What about Beirut, Pakistan, Kurdistan and Iran in last 23 days ?
Greater number killed in name of ISIS than Paris .....
Where was everyone for them?
So sadderer
The media ( social and commercial ) sway our thoughts in many many ways
It is like when a shark takes a surfer's life and there is a huge outcry to 'kill all sharks'
Yet the 13 to 15 on average road users that lost their lives the same day in our country are not mentioned at all..
Also, campaigns like KONY 2012......or the colours for gay pride et al .....Where are THOSE people NOW that once shouted at the heavens in disgust?
Things that matter are topical to some, real life to others.
Outpourings of grief should be consistent...never ever are
Conclusion: We are all sheep..not shepherds[DOUBLEPOST=1447539607][/DOUBLEPOST]
Yes
I actually agree with this. But the reality is that we can feel sad for many things at once and we are going to identify more with some stories than others. Taking away mass killings, a story about someone my own age dying (for example) resonates more with me than others for the simple fact that I can relate more to it.
I definitely agree with people jumping on bandwagons and forgetting about it, but that's the work of the media. It's the same in life, as has already been touched, on when someone dies everyone mourns and rallies together but after a few weeks majority get on with life while those closest affected are still very much in mourning but most people forget this, so to speak.
It's not good, but it's the way it is. What's the solution? New media maybe?
