General O/T Chit Chat Thead II

Good Moanin Faux T thread!

My life is SO busy ATM! I have bumped my hours up to a .8pf, and I have to do two nights per fortnight which is making time fly.

I am feeling quite out of my depth on this new Ward. While it has been a great experience so far, it is so mentally stressful. I learn something new every day, but I also feel I grow another grey hair each shift from the stress. This week marks week 3 of my 6 week secondment and I can't believe how quickly time has gone! January has vanished already!

This secondment has shown we as nurses we really need to move wards every 3-5 years for professional growth.

Hope you are all well, special shout out to @el'coopo. Mutley update, he just has his tickets booked for his US adventure in March (unless Trump puts a new ban on hot gays entering his kingdom). He says hi!

Xo

Ditto the super busy life! I feel so much for nurses, the little hospital in my town sure gets a work out, and with no proper dr there 24/7 the nurses have a huge burden. I was there this week with my little man in outpatients, couldn't get into a GP and he had fluro green/yellow gunk coming out one ear. I've never seen him in so much pain before. breaks my heart. But we are up to day 4 of drops & AB's, and was lucky to snag a dr apt for tomorrow to check him out again.

Hope the stress lessens for you soon. Can't be a good feeling x

Yay! Glad Mutz is livin the dream life :D

@timmydownawell - how's the apartment transformation coming along?

@jessy_girl - I bet your little man is rolling & sitting up now? Maybe even an army crawler? Give him a squishy cuddle for me :)

hey @el'coopo funny you should ask. Work finally resumed yesterday as the final building approval only came in time for the Chinese new year break.

The demo crew have ripped up the floor pavers and in the process caused some of the downstairs neighbour's (already cracked) ceiling render to fall. Despite assuring him the builders will fix any damage, he's asking for money - because of course I'm a westerner and have money to give away. But at least the boys are making good progress. By the end of next week the steel framework should be going up, with any luck. I could use some luck.

The adrenaline that comes with the stress is okay. I prefer the more fast paced nursing, even if my heart is in my throats at some point each shift.

Ear infections are awful. If he is anything like my son, it will be a problem that follows him through his adult life :(

Omg Vikings! RAGNARRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

Have you watched cbb? I got addicted. I seriously love the show!

Jessy! Baby pic time!!!

It looks like a HUGE job!

Hey did you find Junior?

Hey did you find Junior?

The boys are doing a great job. Under the pavers was a 4cm layer of screed so they lifted that up yesterday, and it came up easily thank god. Today they'll be hauling that away and finishing up on the slab prep. Monday the roof should come off, and maybe the frame will come down as well. So by Tuesday or Wednesday I should have nothing left but a slab with a stairwell. Neighbour is still being a dick.

I went back to my old place several times to see if Junior ever found her way back, but that was very unlikely as it's too far from where she got moved to. I could go up to that suburb and look around but it's an incredible long shot I could ever find her. So I just visit the cats at the local pagoda, and I'm making friends with the neighbour's cats at the shack. That way I get kitty cuddles without taking on any responsibility. Maybe later I will adopt again. One pagoda kitty loves me. But then, I am adorable.

I see you're doing well in your six week gig! Learning lots?

Oh poor little man, it's so hard seeing them in any kind of pain and that does sound particularly bad and yucky! Hope he feels better soon!

We are not quite there with sitting up yet even though he is nearly 7 months old! He likes being propped up in the corner of the couch and will sit in his high chair though, he's just a bit too lazy to support himself I think! He's started trying some solid foods lately and is loving it, I can't say I love the mess he makes!

Hi Hooley :)

I see you're doing well in your six week gig! Learning lots?

I absolutely love it! I am learning new skills every shift and have made a few mistakes on the way, thankfully none that will cause client harm. It is a far more acute setting so my heart is in my throats at least once per shift.

I can't believe I only have two weeks left.

How bad is it! I always thought I liked the heat but this summer has really tested my limits.

I had to stay at my parents' place over the weekend as i have no air con and, like you, they have a pool, I'm sure I could have survived without that option but I thoroughly appreciated taking it!

Hi hooley. Love the new username- hope I can remember it's you though. I'm shocking with that normally.

Oh. I need to download so much photo/video stuff - I got a new computer and still rely on my camcorder LOL- I will do as soon as I can sort it all out! I have some other pics that I will share xxx All is good in Hooleys World - apart from some shit I still need to sort out, but that will happen - I am sure!!!! Loving the new homestead - the chooks - the veges and the dehydration of excess of them and the willy wagtails singing at me, and the regular steers dropping by for a Carrot in the morn ;)

I can offer a Partial Contradiction about the infections. I didnt get them until I moved to Brisvegas. Something to do with humidity and narrow ear canals. And swimming. Once I moved away again they got less. And now they are relatively rare. While I was there I had about six in two years. So... it can depend...
(Wierdly the opposite happened with asthma and hay fever. Used to get horrible hay fever until I moved there. Now - don't get it any more. Even in Melbourne).
