Evictions: Why are they "Vote to Save"?

I'm pro Vote to Save all the way. People vote when they feel passionate enough about a housemate to vote ... and with vote to evict the boring "nice" housemates make it through to the end because no one feels 'Yeah! I'm gonna vote Caleb to evict!' Because he's "nice". With vote to save then no one will feel 'Yeah! I'm gonna vote Caleb to save!'. Because he's nice but boring and under the radar and everyone's attention is on people like Tim, Tully, etc.

Therefore the interesting ones who make for good viewing get to stay.

Much much much better!! I remember the days when people like Ben Williams and Trevor won. SO BORING!

And Peter!! The most boring of all!!! Said about 10 words all season...wouldn't have won if not for being an orphan/carer. Come to think of it, in the first 6 seasons, Reggie was the only non-boring, deserved winner. The Logans wouldn't have won if not for being twins/cute (neither of them were a shining beacon of charisma) and ditto Jamie if not for hooking up with Katie.

I obviously have a very different way of thinking. I've always wanted the nice ones to win. Just because they're nice doesn't mean they're boring. I think they just need more time to shine when there's heaps of loud people talking over the top of everyone. And I'd definitely prefer a nice person to win over someone like Tully. I do also love Tim so it's not like I only love the nice, quiet people, but i'm saying I don't write off all the quiet ones as boring. Everyone's saying that if Tully leaves then the show will be boring. I don't think it will, I think it will be refreshing.

Yeah I don't care if 'nice' people win. I just don't want a house full of pot plants for the last couple of weeks.

Bring Back Save/Evict voting?

I was recently watching an old episode of Season 7 (2007) and I thought about the voting system, where you could vote to save a housemate, or vote to evict a housemate. I think bringing this back would be quite interesting, and would shake up the game. Anyway, these are just my opinions, but what are yours? Do you think it would work?

No, that sucked. If you really want evict, just have evict. Not both.

People trying to cancel out each others votes, wasting money like that sucked.

If this season was vote to evict Tim would have gone in the first round. And Ben (last year's winner) would have gone very early too. Vote to evict means that any big personalities leave early. It doesn't work well. Having the two in combination would just confuse the casual viewer and like Poona said it also cancels out a lot of votes.

PLEASE STOP ALL THESE USELESS NEW THREADS! Farrout brussel sprout!

Does EVERY QUESTION someone have need to be a NEW THREAD. Answer - NO!

Vote to Save is better!! It works for every other reality contest. Vote your Favourite. I don't like the culture vote to evict creates.

The voting public don't need to be confused with choosing to save someone, or evict someone else.

any one else feel like we need more mods (even just during the on season) just to keep everything in place?

no friggin way, evict voting was always how you ended up with the show getting more boring each week

^This x 1,000,000. They're basically non-existent... Even BBBA is a shadow of its former self, like BB...

Agreed! The series is still interesting this year! YAY!

So I guess you weren't happy with Jamie winning in 2006? ;) LOL! I liked him!

Hahah I liked Jamie's schlong... that's about it ;)

Totally agree, last night with so many people on, 4 or 5 new threads opened up about Tully, adding to the dozens right now. People mustn't think anyone's reading & commenting on the existing threads.

We've discussed this in the mod forums and we don't believe being rude to new members and trying to dictate the rules to them is the way to run this place. Newbies often need a bit of time to settle in and as long as they're not deliberately trolling we will always moderate with a light touch.

The original post was a valid point and different to the question posed in the threads other members have referenced.
