Ed - fake or genuine?

The pen is mightier than the sword.
Don't get me wrong, he seems like a sweet & handsome guy BUT is he flying way under the radar? I just think there's more to him than meets the eye.

What I liked about last year's winner is that we got to see his funny, evil, sad and kind side (Benjamin) - that is a real person in my book - he didn't hide anything (so, a fair winner).

Guys like Ed, Matt and those 'blokey blokes' don't seem genuine. People like Tim should go far because they're showing all aspects of their personality.

So Ed, is he really himself? A guy as quiet and reserved as he is, in my opinion, doesn't deserve to win or let alone be in the top 5...(remember the dullest housemate ever, who won even, ahem...Jamie in 06?)

I believe he can be just a nice person. Time will tell
 
I am really hoping by Ben being last year's winner that we have now broken the mold of the typical, under the radar, nice, and fairly good looking non-confrontational male winner...Ben.. Peter.. Trevor.. Greg/David.. Jamie

And if that's the case Matt, Caleb and Ed should all be out of the running...fingers crossed...
 
Definitely a nice guy - I've watched some of his personal YouTube clips where people just film him at home and he's 100% genuine. He's a top bloke but that doesn't make him a worthy winner.

haha yet you're totally gunning for Drew to win when he's pretty much like ED - a down to earth, genuine fella. :p
 
I think he's genuine. I think he's boring as bat shit, but a genuinely nice guy. Doesn't exactly make for good viewing.

Haha! What Casper said - Drew and Ed are both genuine but Ed is "boring as bat shit", Drew isn't :D
 
Wait just a minute there, Miki!! I reckon Drew is almost as boring. Sorry! :)

Even when he was with Moley McBirthmark there, he didn't have much to add.

He may prove me wrong. It sounds from updates like he might be getting a little fired up. That'll be good.
 
This is a total generalization and you can prove me wrong but I think Ed is your typical white picket fence, given everything in life guy. Guys who are just nice and boring and calm don't have anything to worry about.

Then you see someone like Tully and you can tell she's been through some personal shit but she's criticized for it.

We know Matthews been to war and witnessed a comrade die but he doesn't come across like a guy from the army at all. more like a surfer. if you want to talk about fake.

I so agree with you! There have been way too many good-looking, "nice", but MUTE & F'ING BORING waste-of-space males over the years, who seem to have been chosen for looks over personality (ie they have none). Not just the winners mentioned above but Vincent, Patrick, Wesley, Kane, John, Ashley, Gaelan,Thomas, Jamie Mc, Andrew, Billy (another shocker), Joel (the worst because he thought he was hilarious), Rory (would have been nothing if not for being one of the bully-boys), Ben Mc (ditto), Michael, Barney, Nathan, Josh, George, Ryan and now Matt/Caleb/Ed and to an extent Drew
...and I don't think the list is exhaustive.

ah come on, at least i can admit to being shallow and wanting Ed to win just cause of his looks! hahaha! :p You'll feel better when you admit it, trust me! hehe!

They're just so undeserving - those non-confrontational, nice male winners. Jamie was the worst BB winner ever (that year, David or Claire deserved it - over Jamie at least).

Basically, these nice guys, they just go in there, make sure they're good looking at first, be quiet/be laidback and, voila, they're actually winning or getting to the top 3 (Travis in '07, Rory in '08). I loved how last year, we broke that trend by evicting Ray and George (potential finalists) early. ;)

We need more winners like Benjamin and Aleisha (she was at least loud & silly but nice)...and finalists like Layla and Estelle (this year I guess, Tully and Tahan?)...

I think, personally, that either Ben, Tim or Drew should win (at least we see his emotive side, unlike Matt & Ed).

It's interesting that the 'non-confrontational boring quiet archetype' is almost exclusively male. I'm hard-pressed to think of legitimately boring females...Claire '03, Catherine, Melanie, Elise, Karen & Sharon are all I can think of. There was a bikini model in '08 but she evicted herself which added a bit of interest, I liked Zoe's psycho bunny-boiler snap & Ava at least made me feel something, albeit revulsion.
 
Isn't it Big Brother who eventually decides who wins or at least makes the final three? He is director of this little piece of television
Ed is likable and there are others that are too as its early but we will wait and see if Ed shows another side and if Ben comes out of his shell a little more and we see another side of him
Ed is at least genuine if not a little dull, he won a lot more points after the showdown with viewers
