Drew (BB12) drags Matt (BB12)

Although Matt may be prejudice towards muslims, he is entitled to support whatever he wants, no matter how dumb and douchey it is. Drew is a hipster, Matt is a bogan and neither are in the right.

Drew always hated Matt. This person he knew, who in the same small way as himself is a public figure, came out in support of something so stupid, and so he told him so. Matt chose to kill foreigners as a job. And now he wants people to feel unwelcome. As an expat living abroad I cannot imagine how it would feel if there was a protest to stop Australians drinking in pubs here, or working here or whatever. Drew did it because this moron he knew was being a moron and he called him out on it. That's what I reckon. Glad I liked Drew last year. Still do it seems.

OMG how blown out of proportion is this issue on this thread??? And no I am not racist, but its called freedom of speech, seriously who cares, there are Indigenous folk living in tin shanties in the NT because of systemic government issues and you people care about one little tweet from a former BB housemate?? HIGHLY doubt this will make any actual impact on wether the mosque is built or not seriously??!!!

I wonder if Matt's racist beliefs affected his job performance whilst serving in Afghanistan?

I'm sure his inherent racism made his job a little easier, given how soldiers often have to deal with being responsible for casualties.

It makes me laugh though, because he obviously thought Tahan was hot shit, and she's obviously from the part of the world where Muslims exist/come from. (I know she's part Aboriginal but she's also Malaysian/South Asian and it's obvious just by looking at her).

How is it being blown out of proportion?

Matt is a prick. He is a prick who went overseas, probably killed folks in a Muslim country, has a problem with Muslims having places of worship in Australia, etc. He stated this publicly. I think what Drew did, regardless of whether people think it's shadey or not, was completely right. And he was very, very tame about it. If I had been in the house with Matt and saw him post that, I'd have done way worse to him.

I think it's hilarious that people in here are calling Drew some hipster as if that's a bad thing/why he did it. What he did was great, and the more exposure we have when it comes to people who are obviously bigoted, the better. Australians need to wake up and stop justifying this sort of thing.

Resorting to calling Matt a 'prick' is not contributing to your cause .... Im entitled to my opinion, as are you. All I am pointing out is IMO there are other issues that are arguably more significant than a BB contestant tweeting about a Mosque. Enjoy your day :)

I don't really care that you think it's not contributing to my 'cause'. It's a fair statement given what he posted. It's a prick move. Dick move, if you want to call it that.

And sure, there are other issues that are more important, but does that mean that this one should just be ignored? Lol, are you Matty's cousin or something? Your logic is horrendous.

I've followed both Matt and Drew on facebook and twitter since they were on BB and like them both. So many people, esp Tim, typecast Matt based on a stereotype that he doesn't fit. He's posed for gay mags and when the yobs had a go at him for it he told them to piss off. In many ways his actions don't fit the box people put him in.

I'm somewhat confused by this whole drama. Drew doesn't follow Matt on facebook but alleges Matt posted this privately to his friends. If so how did Drew get a hold of it and then why did he make a private post public. I stand by Drew calling Matt out on this, if he did in fact do it, but you have to ask that if his motives were pure then why put this in the public domain.

I have trawelled the mosque Facebook page and can also find no "likes" by Matt anywhere on there. If he did like it as Drew claims, then he has unliked it again very quickly.

I have had some experience with Veterans and it is common that they first are brainwashed into seeing particular races/ religions as the bad guys: it's fundamental to being able to shoot at them to see them as the bad guy. Whilst the realities are quite nuanced, they are easily lost in the mixed messages we get from our own government. Abbott has just deployed troops to go and fight Islamists, and before he did he wanted to speak to Australian Islam leaders. The distinction was lost on them and the government has struggled to articulate it clearly. Not surprising that Matt, if he did in fact post it, is also confused. But if he did, then he certainly appears to have retracted it quickly when it was pointed out to him as racist. What more can you ask of the bloke?

Well Matt (this is assumed mind you) is not a fan of the view of Islam, and I can see why having read it.

Drews uneducated comment to attack something he (again, assumed mind you) doesn't understand.

And for the above posters, attacking a view of Matts is stupid and ironic given Matt is against the VIEW not against the people. Alas most people here are attacking Matts view and THE person - ergo they are more 'racist' than Matt.

and how dare the commentators have sly digs at our Australian Defence Force

Islam is a peaceful religion. A Mosque does not impact on anyone's lives. What is so bad about Islam?

Read the Koran and make your own judgement, I wont sway opinion.

Either way its ironic that people here are attacking Matts view and brandishing a bogan, which technically speaking is a derogatory term

Quran Surah 33: The Clans:
Those who oppose Islam will be slain with a fierce slaughter. 60-61

So ask yourself is Matt right in opposing the above VIEW?
I really didn't want to get involved in this thread but too many latte sippers has got me riled up

Well considering none of us know Matt - let alone whether or not he read the Koran (although I suspect not) - you have no better idea than anyone else if Matt's opposing the people who would attend that mosque or the religion itself.

People find many of the teachings of the Bible to be offensive...I haven't seen that stop churches from being erected everywhere.
