Do guys like Ed exist?

I've seen a lot of hate for Ed lately which I think is partly due to editing to spice up ratings.

From what I have seen Ed is:

1. Well mannered
2. Takes care of his body/looks
3. Treats women with respect
4. Mature minded
5. Stands up for what he believes
6. Educated (Bachelor of Finance)

Australia likes to knock people off their perch (tall poppy syndrome) and I think he is a good role model for young boys on to how to behave/conduct yourself.

Are people really that unhappy with their lives that they must project their insecurities on this guy?

Treats women with respect ? is this the same guy that keeps telling a young 23 yr old he wants nothing on the outside, but then allows her [jade] who has a super duper crush on him to flirt, kiss and lay all over him... that's the same guy Ed you are referring too right!

Same guy, that attacked Tim for nom his friend Jade, yet he threw Jade under the bus himself = Hypocrite.

1. he's socially inept (example: he's annoying everyone with the constant 'how you going with it all')
2. he takes it too far..he's vain imo
3. he laughed when Tim said 'theres nothing you can do to get rid of her.' And the 'make do with what you have' comment sums up the whole Jade situation.
4. ye he was real mature when he had to give Ben a peck...and mentioning 'i touched Jade's boobs last week!'
5. when?
6. that's nice

I wouldn't consider him as one who treats women well. Do people forget him laughing about jades infatuation with him to the boys? Him putting her up for eviction to save himself. Him nominating her. ..

As Drew said, he's ordinary.
He & Jade are doing a good job of maintaining a stereotype - stupid pretty jock & stupid pretty blonde model.

For arguments sake let's assume your descriptions of Ed are correct. Then the answer to your question of whether 'guys like Ed exist', is yes.

Side note: Tall poppy syndrome isn't so much about knocking people off their perch because of jealousy but more about reminding people of wealth/status/importance/whatever that they're no different or better than joe blow on the street.

Ed is in a no win situation with Jade. From what I read on here Ed could save a kitten from a burning building and some posters would blame him for not carrying the kitten properly.

Yes they do and they're not as bad as they're made out to be. He seems like a nice conservative guy, making the others look bad. He doesn't put on much of a show though so people have been working over time to portray him in a negative light

1. Well mannered.......good manners are one thing, good intentions something else entirely. Ed has little of the latter.

2. Takes care of his body/looks.......that speaks very little of character.

3. Treats women with respect ...is openly letting a naive young girl fall in love with him...feelings clearly not reciprocated. The way he speaks about "gews" (he rarely speaks of women) is classic AFL training speak.....anyone who has paid enough attention to the long and hard AFL campaign to clean up its sexist image can recognize in Eds tones, language and mannerisms when reffering to 'gews' that he is a product of that campaign. The giveaway was his spiel "i believe in womens rights, I stand up for that".

4. Mature minded......has a relatively well trained understanding of the importance of public perception and the key elements that can contribute to a positive public perception....look respectable, say the right things, show manners. AFL players like most elite athletes are trained in these 'skills'.

5. Stands up for what he believes ...and what he primarily believes in is that his beliefs are RIGHT and everyone who believes different is WRONG and God forbid you should believe that he is not genuine he will feel insulted and vctimized and will fight you until you concede that your beliefs are wrong while his beliefs are right and that you will change your beliefs to be in line with what he believes. mumble mumble mumble.
(...or thats how I imagine him saying it anyway)

6. Educated (Bachelor of Finance) ....again, education speaks VERY LITTLE of character.

....he is a good role model for young boys on to how to behave/conduct yourself.

Yes. Indeed. The message to my son will be....."Son, it's okay to be manipulative, it's okay to falsely accuse others of fraud and manipulation, it's okay to conspire against people to bring them down, it's okay to step over people to be the first to the prize, its okay to blatantly lie, it's okay for you to hide who you really are if there is financial gain in doing so, it's okay to fool young girls into falling for you if it is advantageous for you in some way......BUT ALWAYS REMEMBER.....it's all okay as long as you are polite and show good manners"

Are people really that unhappy with their lives that they must project their insecurities on this guy?

..are people really so deluded so as to think this guy is anything but a total FRAUD ?

phatbeats33 100% Agree. I find it almost disturbing that people don't see through it.

What do you think of Tim, Phatbeats33? Is his manipulation ok? Or is it only Ed that should not be manipulating people?

Ed:
1. Well mannered - self-conscious
2. Takes care of his body/looks - vain
3. Treats women with respect - contrived chivalry
4. Mature minded - overly cautious
5. Stands up for what he believes - opinionated & arrogant
6. Educated (Bachelor of Finance) - boring

Why is having an education boring? Is Tim boring for going to uni for all these years?

Tim has openly said from the moment he walked in the door....this is a game, he would like to have fun and enjoy his time in the house, to have a laugh....but in the end it's a game and he is here to play. Tahan has also been open and honest about that from the start....ED on the other hand has always claimed that he doesn't 'play the game' or that he is not here to win...THAT RIGHT THERE is without doubt the BIGGEST ACT OF MANIPULATION anyone can commit in a Big Brother house. If a person comes in and flatly denies that they are here to play the game and instead wants the rest of the world to believe that he is simply here to 'have a nice time' then that person is the biggest fake and fraud possible.

Tim and Tahan (others as well) have been honest about why they are here....that sneaky rat ED will scream until he is blue in the face that he is different, yet the whole freakin' world saw AND heard him say "Sorry Jade, I can't beat Tim, my best chance to survive at this GAME is to pick you....[cue awkward laugh] ...we can do it together"

When someone is honest about the fact that they are here to play the game, here to win and then go on to 'manipulate' then YES....IT IS OK.

How do you know ed's intentions?

LOL.....how can you NOT read his intentions ?? ...mate, ED has been telegraphing his intentions like bad D class boxer telegraphs his punches. Have you even been watching the same show ??
