when someone says they're "sorry you're upset" or "sorry you're offended" it's not a genuine apology and it means nothing. it means they're not actually sorry for what they did or said and don't understand how it was wrong
Yep, it's the retail apology. Sorry the customer is upset but nothing can be done about it/staff cbf/ customer is a psycho.
