Episode Day 68 (Fri 4/10/13): Daily Show (30m)

random thoughts

- isn't it a shame we're only just today getting significant footage (ie > 2 mins) of boog and maddy. their fates were sealed days ago. good job making me not care, alex!

- jade's (actual) comment was no worse than when someone says "if s/he was on fire, i wouldn't piss on him/her to put him/her out". and she immediately qualified it saying she didn't really wish any harm, it was just an expression.

- drew misquoted jade, I would say intentionally, though his diary room confessional was suitably deniable - which tells me he's playing the audience and BB too. he knew exactly what he was stirring

- tahan took drew's misquote, paraphrased it, and then started telling everyone it was a direct quote. repeated viewings show her final "quote" was not only completely wrong, but also not in the spirit or intent. tahan really should have known better than to take drew literally, but she's blinded by her hatred of mikka and jade.

- tahan's diary room tears are evidence of a girl in crisis, whose conscience knows better but whose stubborn refusal to take responsibility for her actions prevents her from moving forward. the hole jade saw tahan falling in is one of tahan's own digging. if she doesn't want to change that, that's fine, that's her choice - and then she also has to accept the consequences (ie having no friends)

- and blaming the girls for her nominations is ludicrous - there've been 16 people in that house voting for nominations, and the girls can't control it. she just had to look at her vote total to know that mikka and jade weren't the only ones nominating her this week. but it's easier to play the victim.

- good on jade for owning the comment, apologising and tracking down the backstabber (drew)

- good on mikka for calling tahan on her hipocrisy, for all the nasty things she says.

- shame on tahan for claiming she "always" comes and apologises. really? for all the things you've said behind people's backs? that's just trying to win an argument, because half a second's thought reveals that you are constantly saying nasty things behind people's backs. the only ones you then apologise for, tahan, are the ones where you get caught out - which, to be fair, if that's what you think happened to jade/mikka in this instance, then they are doing exactly what you claim to do (apologising when being caught)

- tim, really? you have a few rocks loose. yes, boog is fun and funny, and only the second new female face you've seen in over 2 months, but seriously, get a grip. though it's a shame the voting is done because watching tim make a fool of himself (again) would be worth keeping boog around for.

- ben once again only appeared in a couple quirky moments - there's no chance of the producers showing ben in any negative light.... though with the discovery that he's a stand-up comedian (as far back as 2007), it's pretty clear he is using his stage persona (which is described as charming and self-deprecating) to win over australia. suckers.

Excellent summation, as always

So much hysteria over Jade saying one nasty offhand comment. Seriously people. Take your one-eye glasses off before you post. Nice to see her finally show some teeth.

Drew is just a little bitchboy. That little dobber kid who causes so much crap in the playground and stands back laughing. Just want to smack him! (ooooooh quick.... I just said something HORRIBLE about Drew...call in the moral police).

If one more poster says "Oh but Tahan is honest when she says stuff" I will puke. If you dish it out you need to be able to take it too. The chick says mean shit all the time, and if everyone she shat over called her up on it for a conversation that would be all we would fookin see. You support her you need to own that side of her too and understand that fairs fair and not get all huffy and uppity when it gets flipped back on her.

You cannot take tonight's show out of context of many many days of interaction with Tahan and start getting all upset. If you worship Tahan for her so called 'honesty' then you need to wear it when her honest gets served right back at her.

I feel very uninvested in any housemate at this time.

agreed to a point

Tahan would own the bathroom conversation - because a small part of it was reported by Mikkayla and brought on Jade's comment

However what Jade said isn't serving that 'honesty' back - it was a pretty low comment and Jade knew it as soon as she said it and watered it down saying she obviously didnt mean that ...

Rather than 'honest' I think people should describe Tahan as straightforward and blunt. She's as subtle as a sledgehammer at times ... would make a lousy politician

However her brand of bitchy differs from Mikkayla's because it is accompanied by a smile, laughter and not a mean, nasty, spiteful face filled with hatred which is what I see when Mikkayla is backstabbing ... People are more likely to laugh along with and AT Tahan for what she comes out with and take some of it with a grain of salt because they know her by now and knows some of it is exageration for effect, entertainment and/or attention ... whereas they would see heartfelt spite the way Mikkayla says it

I'm not saying either style is better - just the reaction they garner is different

I wonder how Mikkayla would have evolved if she hadn't had the luxury of being propped up/backed by the Sisters & Jade ... and how she would cope if she lost Jade ... (we know how she'll react - the whole howling/sobbing/screaming mess all over again - did she learn nothing from the other housemates' comments about Tully's carry on?)

I get so confused with these live threads....lots of dislike towards Jade every time and then I come in later and see posts in her defence. Jade fans = just late to the party? lol

Agree with you about Drew, definitely, but got to disagree about the girls. Jade was momentarily angry and thoughtless (in response to Mik's conveying of the bathroom convo) - but quickly regretted and withdrawn. Mik was nasty, and that seems to me to now be her normal manner. She kept derailing while Jade was answering Tahan - i really wanted to hear that.

And I really wish they had shown that whole conversation, as in the update Jade had said to Tahan that someone had told her to cause conflict, and that is exactly what Tahan wondered to BB in the diary room about Drew's motivation - so I wold have liked to see the outcome there

Admittedly that was the only part of BB I saw tonight and because I've always trusted your judgement, I'll rewatch when I can find it available online. I also went into that convo knowing (as you may have if you saw the LF) that Tahan had tried a few times to discuss it with Jade solo but then finally gave up and confronted her in front of others. So again I admit I might've been tainted.

I am just really disappointed in Jade. Mikkayla I loved for a few weeks but I knew I was grasping at straws most of the time so giving up on her wasn't a shock. But with Jade though I think I'm disappointed I bought into the way people would extrapolate one sentence of hers to = she's a saint, she's this or that. They'd make really big positive assumptions based on one sentence and take that to mean she must have xyz quality or be thinking a certain way. And yet again when she's shown a nasty side of her those same people aren't willing to extrapolate that.

I wanted her to be at the end, always knowing she'd have no shot of winning but I figured it'd be a great confidence booster for her once she left the house and also subsequently saw how her supposed friends treated her. But I just can't buy what she's selling any more... and it's not just because of this one incident as I've been saying that for awhile. My heart goes out to her for so many reasons but I don't really like what I've been seeing of her the past couple of weeks. Not at all.

riddim...you are a fully-realised ray of sunshine in a dark at times uneducated forum world...always look forward to your spot-on summarys and agree, agree....AGREE...

Mikkayla and jade are so fixated on finding out who "double crossed" them that they forget that THEY are the ones who said the awful things! Talk about trying to shift blame and responsibility!
What awful awful girls they are. Take some ownership of what you said! I am actually happy drew told Tahan! If I were Tahan I would wanna know!

Brands of bitchy is like saying degrees of dead. Bitchy is bitchy and dead is dead.

Tahan has been so bitchy for so long that fans are getting used to her attitude. Jade has not been so it is so 'shocking' when she blurts out something mean out of frustration (like everyone says Tahan does when she wants to punch someone in the face) and everyone melts into self-righteous puddles.

Tahan fans should NOT be condoning Tahan's 'brand' of bitchiness as ok because she is blunt but then deny the Jade fan's their defense of Jade being frustrated.

How silly am I?

very very silly - but so is your mover for mocking you for watching it and then showing how easy it is to get invested in what goes on and having an opinion on it :) another one sucked in

every year my husband says Oh No NOT Big Brother - how can you watch it ... but 2-3 eps in I might arrive home mid-show to find he already has it on and is avidly watching it and can fill me in on the bits I've missed!

ahhh the BB deniers - got to love them! ;)

I didn't record the show but did someone notice if Jade said something around the end of the show maybe passing comment to Mikkayla or BB? about someone dug their own grave? I thought it was funny considering the subject of tonights show.
Im sure it was Jade but maybe it was someone else?

it will be interesting to see if Jade and Drew both sit down for a chat when the heat dies down, and resolve things, and if Drew will stay away from saying anything much Tahan, as he knows she is trouble LOL

WHY do people like Tahan???? It's beyond me. NONE of the hm's like her. Even Mikkayla has at least one friend in the house. No, Tim does not genuinely like her (Tahan).

Besides the fact that she is hypocritical, rude & nasty (only to females) and fake, she is BORING. The only way she can provide any form of entertainment is if she is in the middle of a bitch-off. (Oh and if you're a creep, also when she is prancing around in her skimpy little bikini).

I think Jade was just letting some built up frustration out when she said what she said..Honestly, anyone could tell she didn't really mean it.
People who have always disliked Jade are just using it as fuel to their fire now.

thought it worked at well for Tahan looking like the victim at the end of the week. now she has a almost 3 days to get pity votes before any other footage is shown.

I guess that sums up tonights show perfectly! Thats what the objective was and Im sure many a fan are busy dialing away and sending their sms to save Tahan and to prevent poor Tahan from ever shedding another tear (make sure it doesnt spoil her eye makeup in the mirror) Im sure she was upset to a degree but I didnt see too many tears. When she said she cant trust anyone, well thats true as you really cant its a game after all, but its not supposed to be Survivor--- whats with the outwit and out play business.
I agree with poster who said why cant they all just have it out and try and clear the air. But I dont think thats going to happen some how. It probably wouldnt make it on TV even if they all did sincerely apologise to each other.

That's my hubby to a T...it's funny how he always knows what time the show is starting each night and already has the TV on and can update me if I am late to the party.. :D

Also, Tahan's whole "Oh! I don't care that I'm nominated. I don't. I don't care. Really, I don't care." As she then immediately proceeds to cry, followed by more of "I don't *sniffles* care that I'm nominated." Uh...yeah.....suuure, you don't care.

Surprised my eyes haven't fallen out, due to all the eye rolling I've been doing as a result of that blatant bullshit.

tumblr_m644llLyWk1rwcc6bo1_250.gif

I thought that was funny. I was like, it's so obvious you DO care.

As for Drew: I've been saying it for 2 weeks and copping it from delusional Drade and Drim supporters. THERE IS NO DRADE OR DRIM. That guy you saw for a few days while fake married to Jade was riding on her coattails because he was too scared to interact. She DOES NOT want to be with him. He DOES NOT want to be with her. And that guy you think is such a funny partner for Tim is nothing more than a slug that rides along and contributes nothing. Not one funny idea, not one funny joke. NOTHING. Just coasting along on the coattails of someone else as he did Jade and then Tully.

YES YES YES YES YES!!!!

(i'm at most times a 'lurker' - but you made me sign in just so that i could agree with this. you summed up drew perfectly, thank you!)

I find it funny how Mikkayla heard the bathroom conversation and reported back to Jade.
THEN, Jade reporting back to Mikkayla that It might be Drew who reported to Tahan and Mikkayla is like " Omg why did he do that?" Like really bitch?

I think Jade was just letting some built up frustration out when she said what she said..Honestly, anyone could tell she didn't really mean it.

Of course everyone knows that Jade and Mikkayla didn't really want Tahan dead and buried, they just wanted to rant and bitch about Tahan at that time. Maybe Jade felt more annoyed with Tahan since she just found out that Tahan nominated Ed, and with Ed being nominated was still upset. Tahan seemed also to just want to take it out on Jade, when Drew told her both girls said stuff.
maybe she sensed that Jade chose to look at her nomination file and saw that she nom'd Ed and Mikkayla? it was the first time Tahan had nominated Mikkayla.

Tahan fans should NOT be condoning Tahan's 'brand' of bitchiness as ok because she is blunt but then deny the Jade fan's their defense of Jade being frustrated.

I for one am not condoning it

I also haven't said that Jade was being bitchy in this - she DID say she didn't mean it - but Mikkayla absolutely did in my opinion. And the filthy look she gets during these sorts of discussions underlines that ...

I don't think any housemate should be condemned for what they express in the privacy of the DR to BB - I think its probably the only time we get to see them venting without the usual game face on (apart from Tim ... and maybe Drew also now - I think they both think they can play Big Brother and viewers via the DR)
But what they say to other housemates they have to know can and usually will be passed on ... I dont think there is one person in the house who has not passed on some little tidbit or another ... so they must get lulled into a sense of security when talking in the DR and let it all out ... I would love all DR convos to be put up in full so we could view them to give us a fairer chance of knowing the housemates ... this mealymouthed edited crapola we are spoonfed with is a PITA ... we're constantly led up the garden path for a few days until we see a daily show which clears the mud!

The OS should scrap Layla's very thinly disguised Ambipur Advertorial/Blog and instead post each housemate's diary entries like they used to

Most of the house considered themselves to be more intelligent that the sisters lol, the reason they said this being that they quite simply are more intelligent than them. Their act was pathetic. And the sisters kept insisting they were way more nice than anyone else in the house, do you really think people should have ignored that? It's ok to think you are better than someone in a particular area if you actually are. Tahan always qualifies her statements as well, she never had the venom and downright blindness of Mikkayla.

Yeah, the sisters weren't as nice as they claimed. I remember a scene where Tahan was serving some cake thing to them and Mikka, and Mikka made some dig at her as soon as she left the room. The sisters laughed and then Katie said "We love you Mikka"

Admittedly that was the only part of BB I saw tonight and because I've always trusted your judgement, I'll rewatch when I can find it available online. I understand what you're saying regarding Jade, and respect your point of view (we'd be a very boring lot if we all saw everything and everyone the same way). What has disappointed me about her is the Ed thing, which has been the main focus of her story arc, but I love her inner strength (which I'm not sure she is aware of), her tolerance, her values, and her general acceptance of others. While her comment tonight wasn't the best one, I liked that she showed a response. Apart from her Ed blinkers, she shows great insight and perception. She is definitely still very much a work-in-progress, and not perfect by any means, but I like the genuineness I see in her and the desire to improve.

(Hope the move is going well :))
