I like Skye okay just think David or someone else would be better..With Skye ya just don't know what you will getDid something give you that impression?
If Skye has a chance to win BB I'm sure even BB may consider vote to evict, 'cos she may be able to win BB quite honestly and BB knows Skye better than any of us.

Read half of this thread before I watched the show and thought that the show would be terrible and that Skye must be the worst person in the entire world.
Glad I did watch the show because BB was hilarious with the 'duty of care' sequence and Skye's superstitious positive thinking/positive behavior theory is clearly totally misunderstood. Skye isn't cocky and arrogant, she is a young girl with a common technique to keep positive. You behave as if your desire is reality ie not packing.

This is very big with people here in the states who are into "the secret." It isn't generally negative here to be confident or positive, even to the extent of being arrogant, as long as you aren't putting other people down. Arrogance or even just saying that you will win seems to be a very negative behavior in australia. Maybe it's just more common or at least expected here.Read half of this thread before I watched the show and thought that the show would be terrible and that Skye must be the worst person in the entire world.

Yes you must be right. It seems so obvious to me that this is a technique, very like 'the secret'. Priya understands Skye's thinking and explained it to someone last week and Skye offered a poor explanation in this episode. But pointing to the sky and saying 'the universe' clearly didn't really get her thinking across to the Australian public.
BTW did I see somewhere on these forums that you are currently living in upstate NY?

I believe most people get the 'think, act, talk positive' to reach a goal technique. The problem is that Skye does not understand the concept. She is also self-centered, arrogant and mean. That is not part of the 'be positive' technique.

I see Skye as a young immature girl who has been a very good friend to Aisha, Leo, Priya, Lina, Penny, Cat and Travis. She has been kind and supportive to these HMs as they have been to her. Skye is self-centered and probably selfish as well, but almost all 20 year old people are. She's not arrogant..she is likely quite insecure. Mean? I just don't see that she is mean, she seems friendly with everyone except Dave and I even saw her laughing with Dave in the latest episode.

I lived upstate and am now in San Francisco. New York is beautiful but I really love it out west. My daughter just graduated from Columbia and is living in Manhattan, she loves NYC but can't wait to get back to the west coast

Age is not an excuse, she is not 12. Even at 12, most little girls do not act that way. Anyways, how is SF? That is one of my fav cities. I try to have dinner or brunch there often when I have a shoot up there.

SF is fabulous as always. I'm very lucky to live here. Are you in Socal?
I mention Skye's age as an explanation. She isn't 12 and she doesn't act 12. She acts about the same as a typical 17 year old. Immature for 20, but within the range of normal. People mature at different ages and the human brain doesn't reach full maturity in terms of executive function until about age 25. Functions not fully developed in a 20 year old include planning and impulse control.

australians dont have much tolerance for confidence or success. its so pervasive, it even has its own nomenclature: tall poppy syndromeThis is very big with people here in the states who are into "the secret." Thanks. I've noticed it on these forums where somtimes posters are very angry with housemates who are confident. I enjoyed Tahan s confidence and drive with her underdog status last season and it would be no big deal in America. Skye doing things like not packing for eviction isn't such a big deal here, I don't think so anyway.australians dont have much tolerance for confidence or success. its so pervasive, it even has its own nomenclature: tall poppy syndrome![]()
