Episode DAY 26 (Fri 23/08/13) - DAILY SHOW (30m)

Oh the memories! How I miss Gretel.

really? did people actually like gretel? i could not stand her, but the show was a lot less fairy floss and more hard hitting so i guess she was good at what she did ...ie. scare people (me anyway)

Gretel was great that night. Imagine Sonia in that situation.....?

Sonia would have been as mute as Merlin! Or started doing the twist.

She was tough and scary which I liked but more importantly she was interested in the show which you need in a host. (ARE YOU READING SONIA!) In real life though she isn't nearly as terrifying.

Imagine ANY host in that situation. Gretel was one of a kind at what she did and any other personality couldn't have handled that situation as well as she did.

I am not alone in saying that I miss Gretel to death. I have so so so much respect for her and, as a viewer since 2001, it is safe to say she WAS Big Brother. The show shifted when her presence became absent. For many, many reasons she proved herself as one of the most capable live TV hosts in recent Australian history. She was fantastic at what she did - and most importantly, she knew the ins and outs of Big Brother, unlike Sonia.

has everybody blocked me or is there no opinion on this?lol

self quote" IN RETROspect Tim has just changed the game in a big way.Think about it,He has just made the whinging housemates look like dickheads with help from the producers editing. Who would have loved it because it made their job piss easy.
The shit they had to put together the last month has been rubbish.BB has been driving this series
Good work Tim getting your deserved spotlight back from the airheads."

i don't have you blocked. your burning hatred of tully fuels me. :p

that said, I don't think your quote got much response because it's fundamentally flawed - you say he made the rest of the HMs look like dickheads with help from producer editing. The HMs can't know this last part - in fact, I would go so far as to say they have no bloody idea what edit any of them are getting or how that might influence what australia thinks of them.

they'll have plenty of guesses and suspicions, but they can never be sure. for some, they will assume wrong and make mis-steps. for others, they will tie themselves in knots trying to figure it out, the stress from which will lead to them being a less interesting HM (ie self-fulfilling prophecy).

so the game hasn't changed one bit.

but I do like that tim's antics are taking centre stage - without them it's either boring meatheads or manufactured love triangles.

We have a bit more class than that in Australia.

From memory, in all ten seasons of our Big Brother, only one HM was ever booed on eviction - and that was at the "famous Merlin incident" in 2004.

Booing? Egads, OMG booing is a foreign concept Aussie's don't really get.
We are trained from the cradle to revere sport of any kind.
But sport is a battle, the enemy is to be respected for merely being sport players - to boo would demean the battle, and our warriors.
Australian crowds will turn on anyone low enough to boo, this was remarked upon during our Olympic Games in Sydney, our crowds stopped visitors booing.
And I have seen it at events, it's one of our best qualities. Booing here would indicate pure evil or the end of the world")

(Also watched an international soccer/football match where the other team were doing that fake falling over crap - now that got booed and laughed at, and that stopped it continuing)

I absolutely agree, Gretel was engaged and analytical and caring and funny in a way that made the show interesting and an authentic social experiment. Sonia seems bored by it all and I find her patronising to both the HMs and the fans. She acts as if BB is some funny little gig she's agreed to because a girl's got to make a living somehow. Ugh.

Sonia honestly watches less footage from the house than we do. She has no idea what's going on half the time. It's obvious every time she interviews a HM.

Ah well...:(

Yeah generally if Aussies boo, it's because the subject of the booing deserved it.
The yanks are the opposite, they even booed Santa at one NFL game!

Santa is a nasty, judgmental bitch! Determining who is naughty and who is nice?! Who died and left that dipshit boss of me?!! :) Boo Santa!! Boo indeed!!

I shall overlook the "yanks" term. HA!!

Hmmmm I'd probably agree to disagree. Go to Bathurst every year and watch ford boo Holden and vice versa, politicians used to get booed all the time at the football grand final. Ad as for BB there have been many boos over the years in the crowd. I think that blonde who's dad died got a few over the weeks. I think the one fryzy hooked up with copped a few?
I think Aussies boo far too much

All I can say is I am glad that our housemates don't get Booed like the UK ones do I watch the like UK one. I was a fan Of Arron and wanted him to win and when he came out the winner and was booed so much was a disgrace he should have been cheered he was the winner after all

Santa also breaks & enters & drinks beer & then drink flys.

Santa also does a bit of vandalism by sometimes leaving footprints. Santa also is a litter bug, he leaves things under the tree.

Not that I have thought about it that much.
