Episode Day 1 (9/11/2025) - Launch

Probably waiting for Western Australia to finish. There's a 3 hour time difference right now.
Surely they could release it on a state by state basis. I'd guess with the way Aussie schedules work people would pick a 7pm reality offering to watch live then would expect to be able to watch another on demand afterwards.

Its not the case for any other network. Once it finishes Sydney time, its pretty well up straight away. Means Western Australia can watch via catchup or live. There is no need to make the whole country wait

As per Google:
MBAFF stands for Macroblock Adaptive Field/Frame encoding and is a feature in the H.264/AVC video standard that improves compression efficiency for interlaced video. It allows each pair of macroblocks to be encoded as either a single frame or two separate fields, which helps in preserving picture quality while reducing bit rate by intelligently adapting to static or moving content within the macroblocks. This is often found in modern interlaced content like Blu-rays and broadcasts, as it provides better quality than older field-only encoding methods.

Short version: even though its encoded/broadcast at 25fps, there is actually 50fps inside it.

@matts bb Episode 1 is uploaded to 10.
Finally.

Yeah so that's called upscaling and its not "untouched" You can't make 50 frames out of 25 unless you multiply them which actually degrades quality

Its not upscaling. Its clear you don't know what you're talking about here - whereas I assure you, I do.

The 1080p is a raw, untouched capture of the broadcast.

On the livestream, they were discussing intruders and someone said "they usually come in about halfway". Someone responded "halfway is two weeks".

Possible length confirmation?
I donโ€™t want to know the answer to that because one month is not enough time to get vibing.

I found it very unimpressive that none of it was live. I thought it was live for half of it then realised that it was fake as hell.
The Launch night is always pre-recorded. It's how they get the ball rolling for the 24-hour turnaround of Daily Shows, etc. Excluding Ch7, BBAU has only ever done one live Launch - in 2003 and it was a mess. A lot of the overseas' Big Brothers usually do pre-recorded first episodes as well... it's very standard.

You cannot get 50fps from a broadcast transmission. The only way would be to get it from the actual feed prior to the playout centre broadcasting it, which would mean someone nefarious from there is capping it.

Yeah BBUS' live launches from 2020-2023 were messy AF and very awkward at times to watch. I personally prefer having some daily show content to watch on night 1, I hated how in some BBUK seasons the first daily show wastes so much time rehashing the housemates entering the house

If that is true then I am very, very surprised. It always seemed live.

You don't know what you're talking about here. I assure you that you are wrong - its the same reason that BBUK is 50fps too.

MBAFF video is technically interlaced, but its able to be deinterlaced by playback rather than needing an encode to apply deinterlacing, which results in the file being 1080p even though its broadcast at 1080i.
