Classic BBAU series on official Big Brother YouTube channel (from 8 pm AEST Aug 1)

Wonder if they're considering YouTube for the live streams and this is a bit of a trial. That keeps them at arms length and perhaps easy to go to a potential new audience than get them to come to you. Can have a chat feature without moderating it in house plus rewind too. And possibly easier to monetize with YouTube ads than through Pluto or Paramount+.

I would love it if they are - way better for international audiences.

Endemol (and Banijay in general) are desperate to get FAST channels going, because you can make some decent money on the side with them. I think the main reason why we haven't seen more Big Brother FAST channels in Europe is that the major platform (aka Samsung TV Plus) doesn't seem to be too interested in Big Brother.. or reality tv in general. They have a better chance in countries where you have relevant local platforms (e.g. Germany, where Waipu is now providing the year-long 5th season, leaving out season 3 and 4) but they'd love to have more of these FAST channels.
Once they get the opportunity to provide them somewhere, we'll see more classic Big Brother from around the world.

It's great to see the subscribers to the BB YT channel go up 1.7k since they announced this livestream, that's a sign they're doing things right, i also haven't seen the stream dip below 500 viewers (at least what I've seen whenever I chime in)

Probably taking notes for when they zhush them up post digitisation.
Maybe they had to go through the videos to see any picture/audio errors and up scaling they needed to do and thought they might as well put a live stream of the original tapes while staff monitor them and interact with fans?

Does anyone know of someone who has managed to watch the whole stream from last night? I would have gone mental by now, haha.

difficult with such short notice of it too. nobody had time to schedule that, even those like me who don't do that much! I have flicked it on occasionally, past the first 90 minutes but I had a medical procedure today so I am not really that with it to focus on watching that much.

I know it's a throwback to 2001 but just to confirm it's no longer 2001! Even Channel 10 have stopped using video tapes now!

Appreciate the inclusion of the 10 second countdown between episodes - guessing that wasn't seen on air at the time
These episodes have been ripped from tapes though. They were all recorded as masters to the betacam tapes. So they have only now started digitising the older seasons.
The countdown is from cutting edge who were the editing company that edited all the shows together. What you see are network masters that were sent to 10 to be ingested.

Well yes, they could be digitising them from this very playout and literally using the viewers to help note the issues before they get to the next stage. Having 500+ eyes and ears would be very helpful.

Silly question, but during the 10 second countdown there's thudding and static, I'm assuming that is just an added sound effect?

Thats just Cutting Edges’ countdown design and sound. Just part of their slate. It is creepy though, it does sound like someone is putting a microphone on haha

Absolutely but TBH just surprised that process hasn't been done already - you'd have they the end of the 10 run they'd have been digitising as standard.
