Change in Tahan post Mikkayla

third this

Tahan is - dare i say it - a little boring since Mikk left

I think the same thing would have happened for Tim if Ed had been evicted sooner. I reckon Tim has Eds longevity in the house to thank for his win, we all noticed how Tim started to lose some steam once Ed had left.

There is something incredibly disingenuous about the "Tahan gets along with guys because she's ~just a guy in a girl's body~" BS that certain forum members here like to perpetuate. The reason Tahan gets along with guys better than girls is because SHE treats women differently than she does men. The way she treated Mikkayla and the sugar sisters in the house.... she wouldn't dare treat a guy like that. She had all the sympathy and pity for Ben in the world, whose schtick was just as contrived as the sugar sisters, yet when Ben acted cute he was soooo adorable and Tahan loved him sooo much etc etc, but when the sisters acted cute Tahan would get shitty. Even when Tahan had a fight with Tim, she didn't attack his appearance the way she did the second her and Mikkayla got into it.

Notice how every single HM in there spoke about how Tahan spoke about her female friends on the outside, calling them all ugly and fat and losers.... she didn't speak about her guy mates that way.

If she treated all women the same easy going way she treated all men, she wouldn't have the problems with women that she does. And similarly, if she spent half as much time making fun of guys calling them ugly and fat as she did to girls, she would not have too many guy mates left either.

One of the best female friendships Tahan had in the house was with Boog - and when you look at that friendship, you can see Tahan treated her with the respect and love that she seemed to only reserve for male HMs (I think the only other girl Tahan got along with with Tully). That says it all.

I used to be the same way when I was younger..... "ooooh I get along with guys better than girls, girls are too bitchy~"... of course now I realise what a crock of shit that was. That kind of thinking reflects an immature mind, and I can only hope Tahan and any member here who thinks alongs those lines eventually grows up a bit. There are a LOT of girls who are more sporty or boyish and don't like feminine things... you're not a special snowfake just because you're a tomboy. I'd wager that more girls identify as 'tomboy' than 'girly girl'. It's our own prejudices that determine how we get along with our own gender. There's no such thing as 'relating to guys better', because the values and characteristics you are identifying as belonging to "guys" when making a statement like that can be found in just as many women, I GUARANTEE it. Women need to stop treating other women as silly bitchy girls who are only interested in frivolous things. It's called internalised misogyny people!!! Humans are humans, and assuming that all girls are bitchy and drama queens while all guys are laidback and easy-going is simply idiotic.

Thank you. I've wanted to post something similar all series but didn't have the guts, and probably wouldn't have expressed it nearly as well as that anyway.
Like you said, I think if Tahan treated the females in the house like she did the males she would have had a lot more friends. I also think it was telling that she talked repeatedly only about wanting to beat all the girls. I don't understand that logic of assessing your success based on the gender of the people you beat.

Tahan got along with boog, she got along with tully, she even got along with Heidi by the end of it. Tahan gets along better with certain girls. Those girls happened to be outspoken, boisterous, in your face type of girls. It's normal to not get along with everyone, and tahan did not get along with certain girls in the house because she just could not relate to them and vice versa. She is a tomboy and so her mannerisms to me are very much on par with male characteristics, so girls who are like that too, will get along with tahan and vice versa.

Mikkayla, sugar sisters and to a degree jade are quite prim and proper in the way they conduct themselves, they were going to clash because they are opposites. It's not fair to say that the blame is all on tahan because they expected her to behave in a way that they could relate to, just like tahan expected that too. At the end if the day they are just different personalities and just did not get on. She found a friend in boog and tully, who she identifies herself with.

Sweet_Geek is that you in your avi? You even look a bit like Tahan :)

Gemini, that is me. Thank you. I have the dark hair and features like tahan, but that's all :)

Yes there's so many pretty girls around here lately!!! Some even subscribe to my religion;), it's great!!

I get what you're saying Des Moines but I do think that boys and girls do tend to talk about very different topics sometimes.

"Outspoken, boisterous, in your face type of girls"? Hmmmm, sounds like you just described Mikkayla to me! As I've said a million times (and as both girls have admitted so you can't say I'm wrong here) Mikkayla and Tahan are pretty much the same person. They were not, as you claim, "opposites". If Tahan can only be kind to people she relates to and she feels are similar to her, they should have been besties. But no, they were TOO alike, hence why they clashed so often.

And if Tahan supposedly only gets along with people who have "male characteristics", why did she love Ben so much? Ben was quite prim and proper in the way he conducted himself, in fact he was more effeminate than most of the girls in that house, but Tahan was fond of him in a way she was not fond of the girls. To me, this is most telling; I think Ben and the sugar sisters were VERY similar in their personalities (with the sisters being more extroverted and less 'witty') yet Tahan's approach to them couldn't have been more different. Tahan didn't punish the male HMs for any personality differences the same way she punished the females. She didn't mock the guy's appearances the way she did the girls. She never insult her outside male friends the way she insulted her outside female friends.

One can't say "I don't get along with girls because they're all so sensitive!!!" when by the same token one is constantly and consistently more ruthless when it comes to girls than one ever is with men. I guarantee you that if Tahan started treating girls the same way that she treats guys, she WOULD have more female friends and there'd be no need to pay for them as she said last week lol.

You are right about Tahan and mikkayla being alike. There is a however though. Mikkayla was also anal about rules being followed, and had that prim and proper approach. Tahan is a rule breaker and far less lady like. Their temperament, reactions and conduct is the same, but that doesn't make them the same as they apply these characteristics to different situations. But yes they did clash because of their so i latitudes too.

Ben is a unique character. I can see why she got along with him and not the sugar sisters. Ill be honest, I never really understood the sugar sisters nor did I take a liking to them. Not because they were bad people but simply because there was a lack of depth there and I would have felt uncomfortable around them. Ben offered sound advice and had depth to him. I can see why tahan thought they were fake because I still have my doubts about them, and this is my own personal opinion. Ill give an example: when Ben or so some was upset the sugar sisters displayed what I call empty sympathy. It was you will be okay with a pat on the back or a hug. When mikkayla was upset about dress not fitting her, Ben took the time to make mikkayla feel better and crack jokes with her. Tahan saw the same thing as she has mentioned plenty of times that the sisters are constantly happy and that's it. There is nothing else, no other emotions.

I think that tahan saying she will pay for gfs was a joke. I did not take seriousness to it. I will admit, I do understand that yes tahan does need to work on her approach to girls. I never denied that, but I don't think it's fair to say that tahan is to blame alone that's all.

some are just gonna get along with the opposite sex more. doesnt mean they cant or wont get along with their side as well. i think we all need some work when it comes to relationships with people. no ones perfect. i took the paying the gf off as a joke as well. before they cut it look like she was about to chuckle.

I didn't like the sugar sisters either. They were there purely because of the 'sister' gimmick, as individuals they didn't bring much to the BB table. Even if I didn't enjoy them as HMs, it's easy to see they were still nice girls who didn't deserve to be treated the way Tahan treated them. Saying they have "no other emotions" other than happiness is blatantly false, since we saw them cry and be sad and hurt and pissed off. And it's one thing to think they're fake - a lot of people who watched the show think they were disingenuous at times, including me - but it's another for Tahan to constantly punish them for that while letting male HMs who were also acting disingenuous - particularly Ben, Ed, Matt - off the hook in her books. Double standards. She said herself she knew Ed was holding back and not being the real him, but she still did not hold it against him in the vitriolic way she held it against Jade. I maintain that if Katie and Lucy were the exact same personalities but brothers, say they were Kevin and Luke, there is no way Tahan would have been so hateful towards them. No way. And if Ben was a Belinda, you best believe Tahan would have been ranting in the DR about how naive and fake and full of it "she" is, and how she can't wait to beat "her".

Well obviously it was a joke... the joke was "Paying girls is the only way I can have them as friends ha ha ha get it because no girls like me". I'm saying there are so many girls who would love to have Tahan as a friend because she has a lot of good qualities, she just needs to start treating her own gender with the same 'default respect' she gives men. But as long as she's consistently more bitter and bitchy with other girls than she is with guys, as long as she's harsher with girls and harsher on them, girls are going to want to keep her at arms length. And in that case, it's got nothing to do with girls being more sensitive or guys being more laidback, it's got to do with the double standards TAHAN employs in her interactions with, and tolerance of, other people.

des moines, I now understand what you mean. I don't know why she has this view on girls or what makes her feel like they have to be competition. But she hasn't been this way with all the girls, which is why I can't apply your theory on her 100%. Maybe it's the girly ones that she doesn't get along with as expressed in your posts.

Tahans attitude towards other women comes from the way she's been treated.
Girls are shallow jealous nasty bitches and i know myself, in my younger days I would have instantly labeled tahan and not given her the time of day because she's so attractive. It's not an excuse to treat others the way she's been treated but you can tell even when she's not being a nasty bitch she still has her defenses up, and has had to learn to be strong and independent.

I've long had a theory (and it's just that a theory) that Tahan is a lot nicer to the girls that she doesn't see as competition. She said herself that she saw Mikkayla as her biggest threat out of the girls, and she was the one that Tahan had the most issues with. With the Sisters, although she probably didn't see them as competition in the game sense, I think it rubbed her up the wrong way that when they came in everyone was very excited and loved them right away, especially "her boys" like Caleb, Matt, etc. I bet that if there hadn't been all the excitement when they came in Tahan wouldn't have had the same animosity towards them.

She was nice to Tully but everyone seemed to know that Tully was unpopular on the outside. She was no threat to Tahan. Likewise with Boog. I think Tahan knew she had her beat given she was an intruder (and let's be honest she can't hold a candle to Tahan in the looks department). I never got the impression that Tahan got along all that well with Heidi and co but she talked to them given they were in the same group. I never got the impression that she was that mean to Jade, but Tahan said on numerous occasions tha she saw Jade as an easy beat. The biggest crack didn't come until Jade had already beaten her.

That's just my theory anyway.

Yeah I can see it from that point of view. I still think that she just doesn't get along with those types though. So perhaps the mix of not getting along with them and them being competition is what really drive the competitive side of it. I found jade and tahan had the same response early on in the competition though. Jade was nomming tahan for the fact that she was a threat because boys liked her and tahans were the same reason. They saw each other as equals in looks and competed with that. They were never mean to each other, but it was a competition to be the ultimate woman I suppose. That's how I saw it anyways.

Crock of shit, since you forgot the very reason she didn't trust anything about them.

Tahan had a theory the fake sisters were moles - and everything about them reinforced her theory.
It was this theory that made her focus on all the fakery, and it was their stupid act that kept annoying her.

And plenty of women are pissed of by females who behave like the sisters.

I certainly agree that it was a combination of both. Like even if Tahan hadn't been threatened by the Sisters' enterance I still don't think they would have been best friends (too different) but I don't think she would have gone after them so much either. Also I don't think Tahan liked Boog just because she wasn't a threat, but more that it allowed her to let Boog get close enough for her to see that she liked her. I certainly think her and Jade saw each other as big competition in the beginning but once Jade fell for Ed and Tahan realised that she wasn't playing the same game she backed off. I also think Jade just saw Tahan as an easy nominations target tbh. Harsh, but I suppose if she didn't want to nom Mikk, K&L, Ed, Tim or Drew it would make sense.

I agree. Consider the girls Tahan does get along with - strong, self assured women who are not threatened by Tahans beauty because they know what they themselves are and what they're not and they own it. A beautiful women would be able to sense when another woman is jealous of her, and a jealous person cannot be trusted. I think Tahan has an excellent radar for this.

My theory is her defenses go up, mikkayla is very insecure and it was obvious even to me she was intimidated by not just tahans looks but her confidence as well and she had a kind of ott niceness that to me seemed fake especially when she would then run of and Bitch
The sisters were over the top sweet, which is why they got the nic name. That to me screams fake and I would get my defenses up
Tully and boog are confident women who are not intimidated by others making them easier to trust

and to think for a short time in the beginning Tahan & Mikkayla seemed to get along for the most part. the big shouting match completely destroyed any getting along after that lol
