Rewatch Big Brother 2007 YouTube stream (10-12 Oct & 17-19 Oct)

I still stand by it - Jamie is one of the most ingenuine, attention seeking HMs to ever come from this show.

For context, he was once again posting a dozen different “facts” about the show tonight, one of them being that “Emma is one of the worst people I’ve ever met in my life”. Literally moments after sending that, he went on to send these continuous messages, completely unprompted:

Jamie: “Travis was a fantastic guy but his farts were beyond toxic - being trapped with him inside of a police car during a task was hell ! Still, he was a great guy to live with

Jamie: “Travis is a 10/10 housemate

Jamie: “ok maybe 9/10 if we account for the eye-watering farts

Jamie: “They weren't silent

Jamie: “but the smell was instense

Jamie: “the heat, the odour...they burned my lungs

…it’s also worth noting he was very vocal last weekend about walking into the toilet after Zoran, too. Saying a bunch of similar things. We get it, we’re all human, but these messages are simply unnecessary.

Then, someone in the chat wrote: “@JamieBB07 respectfully youve criticised HMs like Emma for being mean, but for 2 weekends have said how much Travis & Zoran stunk in the house...it was decades ago, maybe ease up on the public humiliation

He went silent for a bit, then his next message was: “Gotta head off, great talking with you all again

Some comments by viewers after this:
lol Jamie leaving after someone called him out for being a hypocrite
I know right
truth
Jamie got scared off

Idiot.

It was very cringe worthy watching him during his eviction and nominations interviews, as well as FNL. I guess just trying to stay relevant. Surprised Benjamin Norris hasn't made an appearance 🤣 I wasn't a fan of him.

The fact he finally admitted last weekend that his behaviour was all exaggerated and an act makes it so much more cringe.

Gretel saw him at the time for what he was. A phony. Simple as that.

I remember that Gretel interview, she wasn't very nice to him. Probably a sign of her growing disinterest in the show.

I didn't mind Jamie back when I watched it because he seemed normal enough.

Watching the eviction chat earlier, it didn’t come across too harsh to me. She was worse to HMs like Michael and Glenn. She was literally just asking the questions the media and fan sites (cough) were asking and discussing heavily at the time. Is Jamie an actor? Did he have a plan to play the game? Is he using a character to get the audience on his side and further his time in the house?

It was obvious from the start and, as it turns out, all of the above was admitted to be true years later.

Aren't they all playing a character on reality tv? Not that it matters that much.

Editors are often highly skilled at manipulating things on tv though.
A few of us here are experienced in, or have had training in, professional editing. We’ve also watched this show in various forms, as well as other RTV, for decades. We know how it works. You’re preaching to the choir.

It doesn’t change the fact you can still see through people’s behavioural traits at times, if you’re intuitive or know what to look for. In Jamie’s situation specifically, considering a portion of the behaviour was on display during live shows, your argument does not stand.

The furious burying of his acting past and never disclosing his desires for an acting career also annoy me and add to his super fake vibe. Just own it, so many were open about this and personally it never bothered me.

I guess if you dislike a certain housemate it's easier to assign negative attributes to them whilst ignoring those housemates that you do feel a connection to when watching the shown. Which everyone does of course.

I said what I said. And I also said I’ll stand my ground on it.

A lot of my feelings about Jamie as a housemate are because of those attributes he displayed. But my sentiment about people playing up roles or using controlled methods to advance their time in the house (or, low and behold, “play the game”) stands - regardless of the housemate. This rhetoric that someone “can’t act for the entire time they’re in the house” is a load of crap if you know what you’re doing. We’ve had multiple examples to draw from over the years, some succeeded at it better than others. It’s not necessarily “acting”, it’s knowing how to play both your fellow housemates and the viewers. It’s one of a handful of ways you can actually attempt to win a show like Big Brother (this version of it, at least).

I would say exactly the same thing about 2004’s Paul, 2005’s Tim, 2006’s Michael, 2012’s Michael, 2012’s Benjamin, 2013’s Ben From Brisbane and 2013’s Tim. They’re ALL prime examples and some of them I actually like, or will commend, how they analysed the game or played up certain characteristics of their own to further themselves. 2007’s Jamie is no different, he just wasn’t half as strategic or discreet about it as some of the others, and that is why I’ll call it out for what it is.

Actually the only amendment I would make to my above post is separating the likes of 2004’s Paul, 2006’s Michael and 2012’s Benjamin from that list. They would go into a completely separate category of game player, joining people such as 2007’s Hayley/Andrew, 2014’s Priya, etc. The exception is 2013’s Tim who kinda falls between both, but more so the above.

The others mentioned are collectively similar, if we’re talking specifically about those “creating and evolving” a character in the house in an attempt to win over the audience and housemates. 2014’s David is another example of this I just thought of.

Anyone who thinks that’s not possible to achieve is naive.

I just don't see it as a bad thing or something to get upset about.
