Rewatch Big Brother 2007 YouTube stream (10-12 Oct & 17-19 Oct)

Something that’s fascinated me every time I watch this season is the relationship between Thomas and Nick. It intrigues me so much. I feel like there was a lot we didn’t see in the Daily Shows.

But can you not see, especially in hindsight, that he was not being genuine about it? And that he did what he did in attempt to win real people like yourself over? It’s his awful attempt at trying to play that stereotype is what gets me. It surprises me that so many people are convinced by it.

Gretel gets criticised so heavily for her treatment of him - and sure, she certainly had a way of speaking at times - but she saw it for what it was, and simply called him out on it. The signs were there right from the moment he walked onstage at Launch.

It was a (very bad) act that was beyond cringe. I’m all for HMs from this era attempting to go in with a game plan, but there is such a difference at “playing the game” between the execution of someone like Tim (both 2005 and 2013) and this season’s Jamie. Even Hayley/Andrew, for that matter.

I wish I’d screenshot the chat, but Jamie did say last night that his sole reason for going into the house was to accelerate a media career. He admitted the “nerd” character was played up way more than people think. He also said he did his best to keep his acting roles a secret before going into the house (which failed, as his cameos and appearances popped up online very quickly once the season started) and said his intention was to get a high-profile radio gig after the show… which he actually did. So that’s all that needs to be said.
I got the feeling most of the housemates wanted a media career after. eg like Chrissy. I felt it was seen as a way of doing that at the time.
I don't think it's acting. Noone can act for that long. At least not amatur actors.
I guess his personally it just one you didn't like. Not everyone likes everyone right.
That's why I feel they did well with the casting for this year.
Lots of different personallities that rubs each other the wrong way.
It why I'm looking forward to the following season. They seem to go the next level with those housemates.

08 will be a tune in quickly here and there thing for me. Or I’ll use some of that time catching up on 05 and 06. At this point I’m just ready for the reboot. And to judge it…

I was hoping to come around on Emma and see her side a bit more but it’s just not happening. But that’s ok. I don’t find Rebecca as annoying as I thought I did but I still get such an ick from Jamie. I don’t remember if it was as palatable in the past and when his schtick wasn’t widely known, but as it stands now just seeing him on screen really bugs me.

Some interesting discussion we had elsewhere on the forum a couple years ago regarding Jamie:

The YouTube channel very briefly had a compilation video of all the title sequences for each season of the original Ten run, but it got removed because it had no audio (lol) - but they've said in the chat it will be sorted out on Monday.

So close to finally get a clean version of the 2004 theme after all these years!

The only thing I remember about Emma is that she seemed to have a sour look on her face all the time. But I don't think she did anything that would still have some of her fellow housemates seething with hatred eighteen years later.

The fact she’s still running with nicknames coined by others (“Blandrew”) is a bit cringe. I just find it ironic - most of these HMs in the chat are very vocal about the “bullying behaviour” by others from 18 years ago, but are fine to do it back to the people they don’t like - except the difference is, they’re doing it today, almost two decades older, in 2025.

When someone questioned her in the chat, she replied: “just keeping the beef alive” (which is a term troublemaker TJ initiated in the chat last night).

I appreciate so many of them joining the conversation but, man, way too many of them are clutching at straws in an attempt to stay relevant during this short period of 15 seconds of re-fame.

Jamie is the worst, revelling in all the attention in there.

Funny though he literally missed "his line" on the stream by about 10-15 minutes, so that was kinda satisfying.

Susannah: “I lied. There are hard feelings. I want my free car

then: “Ok everyone I'm stepping out for a bit. I wanted to see them cry over me and they did so mission accomplished

The chat this weekend has been very enlightening.

I’m pleased that it’s looking like we may reach Day 50 by the time the streams end this weekend. Not only the halfway mark but a significant turning point of this season.

Two huge characters go, two huge characters enter, and the dynamics of the house completely change. I think this is one of the only seasons where there’s no real lull over the course of the 15 weeks. The drama just keeps on rolling.

Plus, it means we’ll get one of the most eerie and humane moments in BBAU history this weekend: Laura’s premonition dream. That sick look on Emma’s face has stuck with me all these years later.

Omg yes, it's haunting! I get the chills from her reaction tbh

Almost all these HMs still hold a grudge towards Emma, wow. So much hatred for her by all who’ve joined the chat, except by Aleisha, Billy and Bodie.
Emma treated them very poorly though. I’m not surprised they still have feelings about that. It’s like the popular girl at school who thought others were beneath her. It was a hard watch at the time with the cool kids vs. the nerds.
