Rewatch Big Brother 2006 YouTube stream (26-28 Sep & 3-5 Oct)

what makes the turkey slap situation worse is that allegedly it wasn’t even the first one.

there was (again, allegedly) another one in 2005, and if you watch the season closely you can tell who was involved

This was actually very bloody insightful and interesting. I absolutely adored listening (and seeing) Camilla in this “interview” - and she looks stunning! It’s long, but I highly recommend!

I've never thought of John and Ashley's removal in the way they discuss it here - they were both already on two strikes. Was their removal solely because of what happened, or was it three strikes-related? The way they were talking about it here seems to suggest it was the strikes.

If they were right and BB had kept them (if they weren't at two strikes already) and then it blew up like it did - it would've been even worse for the show than it was.

Producers had no choice but to boot them either way. It was immediate, obvious damage control. Camilla even now doesn't see it as SA but that doesn't mean what they did was ok. So strange watching them dumb it down and laugh it off though. About the strikes though, I don't think that got mentioned on the show, but it would have been better for them if they had framed it that way.

Also, I'm so slow. I've only just noticed Gretel's hair colour completely changed during the season.

It's funny seeing her older on TARA and embracing the grey, and then you think back to 2001 onwards when she died her hair different colours every single season. The black in S1 was a bit of a shocker though. With the exception of the blonde, the in-between shades suited her better IMO.

She looks gorgeous. I'm so happy she's doing well. They both look like they are.
OMG five kids aged 3 to 17! But sounds like she's really happy with her family living in Bali. Good for her. Good for both of them kinda living the dream really.

I'm glad Dave called out Seven's show as "not Big Brother": they were on a TV show, living on a set, waiting around, being corralled into buses (to the "basement" for challenges), the eternal strategy etc. These things were pretty obvious to us old school BB fans but I'm glad he just came out and said it.

That was really interesting. Thanks for sharing.

I appreciated him saying that. "Not even an echo of 10s version" - or something along those lines. The fact they were bussed around is crazy and defeats the concept of isolation.

Just 212 watching the final FNL right now. Didn't think to look, but did anyone notice how many tuned in for the incident yesterday?

It was the highest viewership since Part 1 of the marathon, but nowhere near that same amount. There was only about 220-250 or so for the Turkey Slap stuff. The average overall this season has been maybe 160ish people, if that.

I take back what I said last week about this being the season most people will tune back in for. I think it’s safe to say from here on out people will keep dropping off and most will just want the 2025 season.

I think a lot are experiencing fatigue. I think this is the first season to have 9 streaming blocks? BB slowing their roll uploading the individual episodes also probably plays a factor. That being said, the viewer counts on the live recordings that are still up isn’t terrible. Lachie has still been hosting the room persistently each time I tune in. Dude is super engaged.

S6 is one of my favourites, but even I can’t sit and watch it en masse anymore after trying to binge 1-5.

I did think that some might be kinda over it by the time the new season starts airing. Either way, I do appreciate the social teams effort. But it’s obvious they dip out for swaths of it.

Totally.

The fact that last week they made an Instagram comment about posting a Season 6 Yearbook Part 2 post (with the Intruders/Replacement HM headshots) before this weekend’s marathon, but it never actually appeared, proves they’ve decided to pull back a bit. Which is fair enough.

In fact, they’ve really stoped posting much at all on socials now, except for reminders about the marathon. I think they’re probably stuck between wrapping up the marathons before the revivial while still aiming to keep some sort of presence in the lead-up to new content. Either way, there’s not long to go on both fronts.

Agreed.

I have been slowly catching up when I have time. Only up to the end of Part 1 for 2006, as I only finished 2005 about 4 days ago. So I don't mind as it allows me to catch up on the marathon!

Yes so much fatigue! I haven’t watched it at all today and may not get a chance to, but am I reading it right that it will finish at 10pm?

I loved Dave and Camilla’s live! She came across so well and it’s amazing to see she’s really done the work and made progress in her life. It was really insightful.

I was intrigued that Dave said he was trolling Darren with his “crush”. And also that Ben from Brisbane was at the audition, I wonder if he has been keeping up his stupid schtick since then.

And Claire eating chicken is hardly scandalous but also quite telling.

@jessy_girl oh yeah there were a few interesting tidbits in there weren't there. Darren being a homophobe definitely came across in the show though. He seemed like an angry/sulky young guy most of the time.
