The Starburst Golden Ticket episode from 2007 was memed with soundbites for all it was worth on the Podcast I recall as well when they get up to it, there was Gretel getting a bit sarcastic and impatient with one of the stagehands or something to hurry up and hand her the envelope/next part etc.

I remember multiple times in BB06 (I rewatched it not too long ago), Gretel would have to ask for someone to hand her the eviction envelope on air because it wasn't ready. And one time when she opened the envelope and it was empty.

I assumed it was just a prop so empty every week with the name fed via her earpiece.

Perhaps by then it was but Trevor had a peek and appeared to see his name moments before she announced it. Could be total theatrics on his part. Also her reaction in 03 felt like she read Reggie’s name. Neither of these precludes it from being a prop and it’s very possible in the later years they had a physical envelope just for continuity’s sake. The empty envelope is actually hilarious if it wasn’t normally like that.

Yeah I always thought Trev saw his name before she announced it. It was only a split second between him seeing it and Gretel announcing it, but yeah the way they were positioned was perfect for seeing the envelope.

It should be fresh in my memory but I missed this part of the stream, my memory is that he looked and widened his eyes slightly and then, yes, seconds later it was announced anyway. I guess for the finale at the very least they would want it in writing.

I guess we have seen times where just an envelope or just an ear piece can result in the wrong winner, though not with BB obviously but what a thought.

They suggested the way she began to move her mouth before speaking made them think she was about to say a different name than what it was.

It then cut to Gretel in the studio, laughing, and she jokingly defended her mouth movements. And mentioning something along the lines of having the name in writing in front of her.

Also!! Remember the eviction (I think maybe early 2006?) where she received the envelope and it had NO name on it, and she cracked the shits and threw it away!!

My empathetic side always felt for the HMs... in that very split second, you can see them almost look relieved / think it was a ruse / not a real eviction. And then she actually follows through with announcing a name.
