BBAU 2025 house at Dreamworld Exhibition Centre

Great pic 🤣 but the fact they're still there fills me with fear we'll get another season in this set.
I’m not sure we will - Dreamworld will want to have their Exhibition centre back and I think it’d be tricky given the layout of the house to keep any of the build in situ.

I know people have said the house ā€œfeels smallā€ - I actually felt like the bedroom and living/kitchen/dining area felt pretty spacious (but eh, I live in a small 2BR unit). When you go into the house and get a feel for the scale and layout of it, it doesn’t feel like something that could be left in part between now and a 2026 season in 6+ months without being pretty disruptive to Dreamworld’s functions.

It looked pretty spacious on TV (but that's not a good measure), but pre launch when the influencers went in Ben N*rris commented on how big it was, he seemed surprised.

Fingers crossed this set will be dismantled immediately following the end of the tours.

One other thing I don’t think has been noted.

Two of the bed heads (on the right side of the bedroom as you enter from the hallway) had initials written on them - suspect this was in makeup as finger tracing wouldn’t have the same effect. Think this was Emily and Allana’s beds? (ā€œEm :)ā€ and ā€œAJā€)

my girlfriend also raised a good point about the warehouse setting - the lack of the roof was pretty jarring and definitely made the place feel like a set. We agreed that you’d be pretty conscious of staying ā€œonā€ and mindful you were being filmed. I get it’s a small thing, but I feel like the houses of old that were all camera runs and roofing would’ve been much more disarming.
The house so obviously being a set is much more of a contribution to that than there being visible cameras.

Almost certainly will. It's a set - it'll be taken down and reassembled for the next series. That's what happens with BBUK now. Even if they move location they'll probably take the set with them.

BB Canada moved I think three times over it's run but their house was so much better. The first time they moved they made significant changes adding a second floor but keeping the same ground floor layout, but the second and third time the changes were barely noticeable.

BBCAN’s second house is easily one of my favourite houses of all time and the theming was almost always top tier. That said it’s a shame they don’t rework the ground floor to make better use of the War Room or the pool area once it was removed.

Mia just did an Instagram Q&A. I asked if the lack of ceilings were as distracting as they were for me and she kind of gave the most validating response possible:

ā€œIt actually reminded me that we were on a tv show šŸ˜‚šŸ¤¦šŸ¾ā€ā™€ļøā€
Excellent. I'd want to ask "Did the producers talk to HMs about the "content" you were providing and tell you to do better?"

Mia actually replied to me as a DM instead of a story post weirdly lol. considering we are about the same age and everything I know about her I actually feel kind of bad leaving her on read but unfortunately I don’t know what to say šŸ’”

Yeah, this was my first house tour - so maybe someone who has done a few over the years (@Zcsund1234 ?) can better speak to this.
The house itself felt really large to me, especially the bedroom. The main kitchen/dining area also felt big and very open, and I honestly think taking the chairs away probably made it feel even bigger and more spacious, and the multiple seating areas add to that as well. But at the same time, without the backyard the house is basically just three big rooms: the kitchen/lounge, the bedroom and the bathroom.

The lack of a roof was at its worst in the bathroom IMO. The raised flooring mixed with how small and cramped that room is compared to the bedroom and main living space just makes it feel really off and unfinished.

The weirdest part for me was walking into the bedroom. That angle is never available on the show or the feeds since it’s right next to the Diary Room, so actually seeing it in person felt strange. Ironically, the bedroom was the only room that actually felt like a proper Big Brother room. The roof really does make such a huge difference. I’m not surprised Mia said it made them more aware of being on TV. The walls elsewhere are just too short to keep the immersion going. I honestly argue that’s why this cast came across more fake and OTT than previous years, because they’d basically be in actor mode any time they were in the lounge or kitchen.

And yeah, the BB voice plays throughout the whole house, but even if the audio is technically coming from the bathroom or bedroom, you can hear it everywhere anyway. I also really hate the couch placement in the lounge. IDK how I’d even fix it, but it just feels completely shoehorned in and shoved to close to the wall with the screen. I prefer when the couch is at the back of the room facing a proper camera run as the angles were so much better especially for close ups of nominees during live shows. We never really got those clean, straight-on couch shots like we did in the 2004 or 2012 house designs. Seeing it in person honestly just made the layout make even less sense to me.

This was my 5th or 6th time visiting the BB house at Dreamworld. My family first went in 2002, but I was a toddler so I don’t remember that at all lol. The main visits I actually remember were 2004, 2005, maybe 2006, and then 2013. The set as a whole feels a lot smaller compared to the OG house, probably because there’s no backyard included in the tour. I also didn’t see any camera runs or space behind the walls. IDK how others have spotted that, because when I did the VIP tour there was no taking anyone behind the set walls this time. Maybe the VIP tour really was a rip off LOL.

In the OG days I remember there being Channel 9 or Endemol staff around who actually knew the show pretty well. This time there were only three staff members — one at the entrance and two near the Diary Room/bedroom hallway — and they openly admitted they knew next to nothing about Big Brother. Back then the tours also used to end in a BBAU-themed shop in the spare/task rooms, and the camera run hallways were covered in housemate photos. Now there’s no shop at all, and the only housemates with photos up were the final five… placed in the women’s toilet hallway across from the Exhibition Centre šŸ’€

One thing that did shock me was that the Diary Room chair isn't soft, its some sort of leather/rubber material similar to what steps and other things are in children play centres. IDK why but I expected it to be soft and way more comfortable that it actually is. And I thought it was a lot bigger IRL.

A fun experience even if it was no where near as exciting as what visiting the old was. The coolest thing was hearing the full 2001 theme play as I walked into the house. That did make me geek out a little bit. I also filmed a video of the entire house, so I'll upload that too.

Ask her my question above your post!

I believe they replace the diary room chair with the one that the public used to be able to sit on. During the show, you can see it was a different material.

In this photo, you can tell the chair is made of some sort of felt and not vinyl.

Just wondering where this piece of wall came from. It's obviously lying on its side, with an arched/rounded top.

Will post more when done with Dreamworld but wow the other side of the diary room is hilarious

I could've sworn when they had people posting their tour videos when they were in the house before filming started there was a wall there.

Maybe it was a false wall that they would pull back as their way to enter the DR from that sliding door on the right? Its the only reason I can think of why the wall on the very left sticks out a bit.

If it helps this photo was taken against the wall behind the kitchen cabinet. The wall visible is the bedroom

It was mostly just looking really closely at some of the mirrors, you could see little lights behind them (wiring for hotheads? Maybe occasionally cams?). Most noticeable in the mirror behind the sink and one near the fishbowl.
