BBAU 2025: Casting open, return to Dreamworld Confirmed

Don’t necessarily think it was always that way. As noted from the rewatch there’s a very obvious change that happened between BB3 & 4 and it only seems to get worse from there.
I think she did genuinely love it and have fun in the early days, but those last years for her must have felt like major burnout. I could only imagine what it was like witnessing the show turn into what it was. It is a real shame she doesn't like to talk about it too much as I'd love a tell all documentary esc special where she goes into detail.

But also good for her for focusing on herself. That is my favourite thing about her, she's just Gretel first over anything.

Haven’t seen anyone else post this, but Mike uploaded a shout-out to Mel the other day:

Check out Mel’s comment… interestingly, I wonder if this photo was taken at a press shoot or something. There’s no way he isn’t back.

My BB mind seeing the post has “don’t hold back” by the potbelleez and being instantly transported back to the 2007 finale

But also my gay mind thinking it’s shade at 7 for the holdback clause

I have a small wish for the revival on Ten... while I'm all for forgetting Seven's era of the show (which I'm certain the majority of the general public would be happy to do as well) I kinda hope they do at least acknowledge the existence of Nine's seasons. We don't need them to focus on it but, in the exact same way that Nine's seasons still acknowledged (and sometimes showed footage from) Ten's seasons, I do hope those three years are still counted within the overall BBAU canon. We obviously won't get the episodes replayed on YouTube, but surely they'd be allowed to show clips from time to time if they do retrospective packages of winners or episodic highlights, etc. It'd be kinda weird if they didn't, to be honest.
BB - this is your chance to download BigKev's folders while you can, haha.

I think it's fine to hone in on bringing it all back to the OG era, but I believe it's also important to not pretend they didn't exist. If 2008 is getting referenced then there's no reason 2012-2014 shouldn't either, especially when so many newer fans grew up with and talk a lot about those seasons.

Seven's era, though, absolutely deserves to never make another re-appearance. It wasn't even the same show, while Nine's essentially was.

I do agree and since they filmed in the dreamworld location it is kind of hard to pretend they just didn't happen, and the reality is a lot of younger fans will think back mostly to the FNL-Ch9 era so retconning them will almost be impossible.

Agreed. I don’t know what exactly BBAU has in store, but I hope they go down the opposite path of ITV in the UK. ITV have failed to acknowledge prior seasons outside of their own, even starting their series count back at 1. Aside from I think two housemates (I can recall winner Kate Lawler from BB3) they don’t even use former housemates as guests.

I’d be hard pressed to believe 10 would ignore 9s run - same house location and basically the same OG format. 7 need never be mentioned again.

ITV though did do similar prior to their relaunch, concentrating on the original C4 era and using nostalgia to try and bring back fans who gave up on it. The difference though is in the UK it seems to be the production company rather than channel that controls the archive.

I'd say only Tim was perhaps a breakout star of the Nine era but once on air the relaunch needs to be about looking forward, not back. Now you mention it though I wonder if Ten will have any kind of chat based spin-off - if so guess it would be a podcast or 10Play show rather than on the main channel.

Oh yeah, totally. I’m not against pushing forward either. I guess with so much of this revival riding on nostalgia for the OG years (or at least this first season back seems to be), if they show something like a quick montage of past winners in the Launch or Finale episodes (which is something BBAU is/was already known to do), I do think they’d be remiss to stop at 2008. At the very least I think snippets of the post-Ten winners would suffice as a nod to those years. Just don’t pretend it didn’t happen. Perhaps take us to 2014 and emphasis that it’s coming back “home” from there.

I’m also aware that I probably sound contradictory by advocating for acknowledgement of the Nine era, while actively okaying the erasure of Seven’s. But I do think there’s a grey area between the two - not least of all how recent the latter’s years are, not to mention the potential impact of their holdback clause anyway.

In my opinion, the only takeaway from Seven’s existence moving forward should be that we are now up to Season 16. While Seasons 12-15 were a far cry from any other iteration, don’t be as bad as Seven and attempt to retcon the number of seasons.

You raise a valid argument IMO, it would just feel incomplete to not include them. But by all means I beg they purposly look no further than 2014. If anything I hope ten go out of their way to make it a point of ignoring the seven era all together. Call Reggie a two-time winner sure, but that is the absolute most I wanna revisit from it.

Same. The absolute most I want accepted as canon from 2020-2023 is the number of seasons we’re up to and Reggie’s double win. (You can’t really avoid the latter, especially if they get her on a live show at some point and she mentions it in a way only Reggie can. 😂)

LOL in my mind this is season 12, Reggie's double win adds some difficulty to that however. If they never did the All Stars then the world would be aligned perfectly, I really am excited to hopefully see some more sas against seven in the promos. The whole "where it belongs" thing is so satisfying for us super fans. If we are right and the holdback is the sole reason for a short season then I hope the sure makes a dig at seven, they know they want to.

Just watching the catch up of the 05 stream, and the Eviction show Best Dressed just popped up. Do you think they'd bring that back? The amount of effort some of them put in was crazy haha.
