BBAU 2025: Casting open, return to Dreamworld Confirmed

I think it's a bit hard to push the "Original Big Brother" line if they do something gimmicky. But I still wonder though if the vague date reference for applications and the "summer" reference mean they have a full season pencilled in for the early new year. If they do have a 4-week BB sampler while pushing the narrative about a full season coming soon, maybe they'll pull it off.

Some international franchises had a pilot run where the idea was that the winners would be housemates on the first official season. None have done it for 4 weeks, but it could be a way to do some sort of original Big Brother without the need to sell it as a proper season.

To be honest I can see this as an teaser season. It’d leave you wanting more and doing a longer series in 2026. If they are going to the effort to set up a base in Dreamworld, they are fully in this and won’t be doing it for just a 4 week stint each year. The ROI on that won’t make sense.

I personally feel that Endemol put them in a pickle due to the holdback.

They will be able to get a sponsor base done for deals on this season but it won’t be a huge amount due to the turnaround. I think we will see a bigger slate of those and allow them to be out to advertisers with a longer runway for the 26 series.
They need to monetise this to make it profitable more than what 7 managed to do and I think if they do it right it could actually turn the network around.
Smartest move would be to have a ad free live stream on Paramount+ to drive subscriptions while having a ad served stream on 10play.
You can commercialise the fuck out of their social media content, voting, contestant prizes, home viewer prizes etc

Well this is just beautiful.

No-one has even suggested that. It's very obvious this short season was borne out of the holdback restrictions.

Oh, it was suggested – I got piled on for saying it was obviously down to the holdback, and probably not the end of the world to have one shorter season. 😅 The vibe has totally changed since the Dreamworld announcement and the amazing social media/YouTube launch.

Well it was obviously pushed back due to the holdback and anyone who thought otherwise is ... [insert your conclusion here]

I wish they’d come out and just address the elephant in the room… Even if it has to come in the form of a leak. Everything they’ve been doing has been fantastic so if this is due to the holdback I trust they’ll try and make the best of it… If it’s not all the goodwill they’re building right now means nothing.

From a "social experiment" point of view it would actually be quite interesting to put a bunch of genuine normal people in the house for 4 weeks, release them back into society and then bring them back in the New Year to finish the season for another 4 weeks. Let's see if a bit of fame goes to their head!
It's a bit what Pinoy Big Brother used to do for a while: They had different batches of celebrity, teen and regular civilian housemates and initially, they all lived live in the house separately, e.g. first the celebrity housemates, then the teen housemates and then the adults. Each of these blocks ended with viewers voting for finalists and then at the very end, the finalists from all these batches moved back into the house for a few more weeks to determine the overall winner.

This is exactly what I think too. Make it great, and it will lay the framework for a banger next year.

New announcement suggests audition videos will be uploaded to YouTube. Sounds like Australia might get (some) say in who goes in? 🤔

They say it’s the “first time ever” but, to be fair, technically it’s not actually the first time they’ve done this. Sharing the auditions online was half the process for the 2008 season too. I even think Australia voted for a shortlist back then as well.

Wouldn’t be the first time ever they incorrectly claimed something was the first ever LMFAO
