BB/CBB UK - Rewatch discussions

BBUK13 Week 3 Part b
  • Thursday: noms talk rules have already been broken and the house gets a no hot water punishment over Caroline and Conor joking about nominating Becky the previous night. Caroline gets the giggles but Benedict has had enough of her and gives her a bit of a verbal dressing down about laughing at Victoria’s eviction and apparently she doesn’t speak well of her parents and thinks it doesn’t paint her in the best light. Caroline later seems to reflect on acting immature and apologised to Benedict. Becky on the other hand needs a bit more time.
  • BB gives the nominees a chance to show a talent of theirs by Lauren running a Karate session with Deana, Arron and Becky, and Benedict giving a sex ed class for Scott, Sara and Caroline complete with how to put a condom on a flask.
  • At dinner, Deana makes an offhand joke about Adam’s temperament being like ‘he’s on his period’ which Lydia gets offended by and they have a bit of an argument about it in the bedroom, appearing to fall out with each other (Lydia has been already trying to distance herself from Deana and her unpopularity in the house lately) although maybe it’s a bit of a misunderstanding (and possible double standard as 1. Deana wasn’t even talking about periods itself and 2. Even if she was, is it just Lydia thinks it’s not dinner table appropriate or is it not as natural as Benedict’s crusade about destigmatising masturbation (in a way)?, you might get Feminists etc. ready to argue that point but interesting tangent ymmv.
  • Benedict the night before had filled in LukeA and Arron on his prank he pulled on LukeS. After watching him win a bottle of protein powder in the eyes on the prize task, Benedict felt he didn’t deserve it and wouldn’t share it, so he mixes some curry powder through it.
  • It doesn’t take LukeS long to find out and he’s not happy. Caroline suggests that Deana could’ve done it. Arron and Sara have a catwalk off which some of the others join in.

  • Friday: Shievonne is upset with Adam about a marriage proposal joke he made to her the previous night that somewhat triggered her. She retaliates by making some ‘shit on you’ joke back to him at the dining table, which once again, Lydia somehow finds herself involved in the background and forth argument about before Adam and Shievonne talk it out outside. Caroline and Becky also have a talk.
  • Arron put powder in a hairdryer as a prank which resulted in them being taken as a fire risk, this upsets Lauren who wants to get ready for the Eviction. Arron feels bad about it so BB sets him a secret task to get new hairdryers, ‘Arrons acts of kindness’: giving Caroline style tips, Benedict an eviction pep talk, and a housemate a massage (he does Lauren). He does a bare minimum job, but BB is feeling generous so they get one hairdryer. oh and the hot water back on.

  • Eviction time. Earlier in the day Benedict was acting sus sitting in the swivel chair next to the diary room in a blanket and unscrewing it from the floor, covering by making a joke like he’s having a fiddle under the blanket in blatant view of everyone. Before the eviction announcement he goes and lifts it up and places it next to the stairs. BB warns the housemates about the fixtures and fittings rule and that the rest of the house will have consequences if any of them remove furniture from the house.
  • Benedict is evicted, and sure enough out goes the swivel chair with him. Oh and by the way, he also tells them sorry about the curry powder on his way upstairs. What an exit! LukeS is fuming.
  • LukeA is a bit upset that Benedict is gone, and the way LukeS is reacting. He thinks he might be next to be put up by that crew because he was close with Benedict. Deana is also feeling it a bit, confiding in Lauren and Ashleigh.
  • I also thought I’d rather see another few weeks in Benedict he was really starting to ramp up and maybe there was a bit of sympathy in play for Lauren, will be interesting now though to see if she can leave this funk of whatever the girls club think about/have an issue with her and just start to get on with it a bit more (maybe continue hanging with LukeA and co).

  • BOTS: Luke Marsden BB9 was on a segment with Emma looking at the ‘perfect housemate’ drawings the housemates made (although Arron drew a house rather than a housemate). Jamie had a mates quiz VT with Chris about Benedict.
  • Some more exclusive clips including the housemates getting envelopes it’s personal pictures and Lydia wanting to give some of hers back because they’re of Andy, Ashleigh and LukeS getting hands under the covers and having to er… clean up, and LukeS and Conor discovering another of Benedict’s pranks in a hidden tuna can stash.
  • Some other Guests included Kerry Katona, Natasha Giggs, Carole from BB8, Johnny Robinson and Kitty Brucknell from X Factor 2011, Anne Charleston and Mark Little from Neighbours, Pat Sharp, and more. This weeks Karaoke outro was Benedict in just a bow tie and Union Jack undies singing Spice Girls’ Who Do You Think You Are.

    Onto the next few episodes!

BBUK13 Week 4 Part a

  • Saturday: the housemates wake up to find BB has removed all chairs from the house and garden in punishment for Benedict’s stunt at the eviction. (They got returned after some time this week, also he was saying BOTS told him to pinch things from the house as a dare (presumably maybe in one of Jamie’s chat segments or something lol)).
  • it’s Ashleigh’s 21st Birthday. She dyes her hair darker, and chooses Conor and Shievonne as her party planners. In the diary room they are tasked with putting together dual parties with a different set of themes and objects from envelopes Shievonnes is Egyptian themed with rock music and a chocolate fountain, whilst Conor’s is Rock star costumes with pop music and an ice sculpture.
  • What Ashleigh and the housemates don’t know is during the night she is asked which was the best party and that party will continue while everyone in the other will be locked out and shut down. She chooses Conor’s, meaning Shievonne, LukeA and Lauren have to call it a night.
  • Earlier Shievonne and Ashleigh were pulled up in an announcement from BB for noms talk while discussing the face board (something about Conor never being put up again). Lydia goes off on her own but Shievonne snaps at her in the bedroom a little thinking she’s being moody about it which turns into a bit of a brief argument.
  • Lydia also tells LukeA she thinks she’s being targeted now because Conor was making a thing about hearing her name being chanted/booed at the eviction. Lydia pulls Conor aside to clarify the chanting was maybe about her and Deana having an argument and not because Lydia was being shady towards the others or anything kinda thing.

  • Sunday: Lydia decides moving forward to be civil with Shievonne but moves beds to be more independent should another argument arise.
  • Mini-task is around an eating challenge for the housemates to win some sort of big prize. Housemates had to pre-select from a range which dish was theirs to attempt. The twist is the nice looking dishes are actually something disgusting and vice versa.
  • Lydia gets custard that is made to look like mustard but says it’s kinda weird still, and Deana is the only one unable to finish her cake made of Tinned Ham (initially believing it was beef which she doesn’t like) and Arron is giving her shit for it sayiṉg it was an Oscar worthy performance.
  • They end up picking Conor as the winner, who barely got his special egg down, but they find the reveal of the prize (Conor getting complete control of what this weeks budget gets spent on) to be an anticlimax. I think they’re under the impression the prize would’ve been better had Deana taken one for the team, and over such a ‘simple food’ as ham in their estimation, compared to the actually disgusting things some of the others were eating.
  • Later on Conor is still so annoyed at Deana over it in his huff he makes some comments in a kinda joking sing song way but its pretty full on about if Deana wants to talk about pranks he’d stick the epilator up her minge for a prank, thinks shes a POS and dosent care if he gets pulled up for saying it, and if she tries to get him back with water like with Arron he’d punch her in the face. He gets a warning in the Diary room although many are pretty appalled on the outside as its brought up quite a few times on BOTS if He’s proper realised how it came across and should’ve been put up for eviction or something more than a warning for that kinda language.
  • Meanwhile Becky and Caroline are trying to hide Deanas epilator, after Arron hid it in Becky’s drawer, this time they choose the fruit bowl. Deana has been spending time with LukeA, Adam, Lauren and Lydia’s group, with Arron watching from the bathroom and saying how Lydia told him she doesn’t gel with Deana.

  • Monday: Nominations day. Lydia thinks Arron is overreacting and looking to start arguments with her to look good in front of the boys clique, after he snaps back at her asking if he usually sits further up the table.
  • Nominations are announced. It’s Lydia on 6 and Deana on 5. LukeS was just behind and there was a few on 2 pts.
  • Arron has another overreaction with Deana when she butts into his conversation with Becky in the bedroom about his pranks, asking him calmly how he thinks those pranks might make others feel sometimes or something to which he walks out of the room raising his voice like he thinks she’s having a go at him.
  • Deana’s had enough of Arron’s rage baiting, so she calls LukeS out to ask him if he knew that Arron knew about the curry powder before Benedict’s eviction to which LukeS tells her Arron already told him. Arron says to LukeS that he wasn’t in on it he just happened to be there when Benedict told Him and LukeA and it was already done. He thinks Deana is the one just trying to stir up paranoia now and make him out to be a shit friend.
  • More trouble for LukeS as Conor spots Ashleigh crying and takes her aside for a chat, it seems she still is having doubts over carrying on with LukeS and if it will work out on the outside, as he’s started talking about potentially moving in together after they get out.

  • Tuesday: Shopping task is based around getting to ‘100 Points’. A red ball chute system has been set up around the stairwell and far wall of the house delivering balls to show how many points they are on. There will be various challenges over two days to either win or lose points.
  • The first task is to give up enough belongings to counterbalance either a 5pt, 10pt, or 20pt weight on a big scale in the living area. They end up winning the 10pts, but they may have had enough to go close to the 20 pts?
  • Next the smokers are asked to round all their cigarettes and lighters for Arron to face a dilemma to cut them all up for 20points in front of them, which he does without much hesitation as a non smoker. Lauren’s face during this is a sight as a lot of her personal stash goes with it, Arron apologises for doing it but they will be able to buy on the upcoming shop list.
  • Lauren’s still salty so she vents her frustration on Arron’s bed and pillows by smacking the shit out of them. It’s not quite done for Lauren though as she is tempted to step outside the red square in the small task room to spend some time getting a beauty treatment with her sister, but declined and heads back into the house in tears where’s she’s consoled by the others.
  • Next it’s Lydia and Deana’s turn to get payback for noms by choosing 3 housemates each they think nominated them to get gunged. It’s 10 points for correct guess, -10 for wrong. Deana picks the obvious Arron, Conor and LukeS, while Lydia takes a different tactic, for some ‘useful information’ she picks Scott, Becky and Sara. Sara didn’t nominate her so they lost 10 points for that, but Lydia also did it to test her.
  • LukeA turns down a ringing phone call and voice message from his wife. And get your BB Bingo cards out everyone, it’s that time again, even though there’s been quite a bit of hair colouring, but we have our first haircut makeover of the season as Scott gets the boys to shave the back and sides of his head leaving the top, but it takes him a bit of getting used to seeing himself and stop avoiding the mirror lol.

BBUK13 Week 4 Part b
  • Wednesday: Day 2 of the task. BB wakes the housemates up with an alarm, telling them they can hit the snooze button in the lounge for an extra hour of sleep for -5 points but they decide to all get up. However Ashleigh, Caroline and Sara snooze on the couch and lose them the 5 points anyway. Lauren is annoyed telling them she could have talked to her sister yesterday for that, and Lydia says in the bathroom that what would their reaction have been if it was someone else that lost the points. Caroline is bitching about it in the kitchen saying Lauren was being nice to everyone because she wants the approval of others maybe she should’ve just taken the 5 points selfishly as Lauren is shown fuming in the bedroom wondering the same.
  • They are sitting on around 45 points atm. Adam gets a task to eat a whole onion for 10 or eat an English breakfast for -5 or could have both for 5. He just does the onion. Caroline has to choose 5 10 or 20 pts sized jars of sweets to consume in 10 minutes whilst being spun on a roundabout outside. She’s not happy about Adam being chosen to spin her and puts on the theatrics but gets it done. Arron and Sara still casually chatting with each other, is there something gonna happen there.
  • LukeS deliberates on being able to watch all the nominations for -5 points or -1 pt a go as many as he wants but after a long time in the small task room pacing and thinking it over ultimately decides against it.
  • Last Task is a slip n slide, they have 80 pts at this point, Scott gets 5 but LukeA gets -5 as he slid too far to the -5 zone and pulled his hands back (but doesn’t realise he did that). Conor gets 20pts and the housemates are told they passed but LukeA failed his part and why and he feels bad about it even though they passed. LukeS is happy he didn’t give in to the 1pt nominations as he would’ve copped the blame if they finished on 99pts.
  • Caroline also gets a formal warning for bitching about Adam earlier and using language something about that he’s unsanitary and disgusting (might’ve triggered some complaint or something). She decides to apologise to Adam and say she’s become a bully as a trauma thing and he tells LukeA hes taking it with a grain of salt if it’s genuine.

  • Thursday: Conor does shopping list all by himself, gets some luxury garden games equipment. Spends over £100 out of £80 on Protein powder, and gets the smokers their cigs back but it causes friction again between Ashleigh and Lauren as He said she could have 2 packs to replace her personal ones that got cut up, and Ashleigh has an issue with it. They got their shopping delivered, along with the totem tennis and Foosball table.
  • Friday: Sara and Arron talk to each other again and the others think they fancy each other. BB gives Adam a drill sergeant task to make everyone clean the house and they win a party after the eviction. However after Lydia is Evicted, BB calls out a noms talk rule break about Scott telling Deana he didn’t nom her in the bedroom and they lose music being played at the party and the foosball table, which Arron is annoyed about but Scott doesn’t seem to care.
  • Sara gets put off by Becky bringing up the stuff about Arron again in the kitchen or something (came across like she was saying he only likes Sara because thats his only options in the house right now) and Shievonne gives her a bit of a lecture about performers in the house and people stirring each other up to not like somebody and Becky says its like being treated like a kid in the schoolyard.

  • BOTS: Dr Funke is back and also Judy James hasn’t been on in a bit, with a segment on the housemates Tattoos. Dianne Youdale a former on gladiators now a life coach was also on with some analysis. And Iain Lee was on a few times.
  • Some returning former housemates, including Sophie Reade from BB10, Aisleyne BB7, Nicola Maclean and Tina Malone (CBB), a handful from BB12, Heaven, Tom, Alex, and Harry was this weeks strat chat segment guest with a ‘top banana’ award to give.
  • The mates quiz segment continues, and there was an intro gag about Emma sewing like LukeS was doing during the week. Lydia’s Saturday Karaoke outro was Umbrella by Rihanna.

BBUK13 Week 5 Part a
  • Saturday: Sara and Shievonne apologise to Becky. Arron and Scott seem ok about the table as well. Arron discusses Sara seemingly not interested in him out loud with the others (later Caroline and Conor dare Sara in a drop the ball get a dare game to kiss him on the cheek), while LukeS makes a romantic gesture making a picnic for Ashleigh out on the Garden.
  • Lauren gets a mini task to choose two cooks to display their skills with her family’s Vegetable farm specialty - Potatoes. She will have to pick the winner out of LukeA and LukeS. LukeA picks Adam and LukeS picks Conor as their Sous chefs. Lauren Picks LukeA to have a lunch of Potato items outside while LukeS is the waiter.

  • Deana and LukeS have a bit of a clash that all stems from the topic of romantic gestures or money coming up in the bedroom, where LukeS questions if Deana would rather have an expensive wedding or the money it would have cost, Deana taking the money but backing herself up whilst also taking it as LukeS trying to make out she’s a golddigger or catch her out saying money orientated comments and only there for the cash.
  • Deana is later overheard bitching about LukeS carrying on with Ashleigh (they called themselves ‘Lush’ the other day) with the ‘Outsiders’ (as Bots Has taken to terming the two groups), by the ‘Insiders’, and reluctantly confirmed by Scott coming back into the bedroom on her ‘how low can you get’ comment.
  • LukeS confronts Deana who tells him straight she thinks his relationship with Ashleigh is fake (more on his behalf, as they had another body language expert on BOTS this week, Elizabeth Kuhnke, to discuss). LukeS just says we’ll see then and says he’ll still be civil to Deana but thinks she’s being ridiculous, while Ashleigh doesn’t want them to fight and speaks to Deana, Caroline also calms her down and maybe she should chill a bit and that her attitude to money may be misinterpreted because she’s a successful woman in the outside world.

  • Fwiw at this point I’m still not completely sure about the read on LukeS being purposely manipulative and gameplaying full on, and his showmance being a part of that or just is what it is while hes in the house kinda thing iykwim, although there’s been some questionable moments, and I think perhaps Arron/Conor’s latest antics might be also colouring his perception a little by association as to who really is the ringleader there IYKWIM(similar to Sara with Ashleigh and Shievonne in some ways too, Sara being under the radar a lot recently).
  • I’ll go further detail in the wrap ups but we’ll see how it continues to play out. The LukeA/Adam/Lauren clique seems wary of them both, Deana starting to stand up for herself but becoming a bit loose cannon, and LukeS being nice to them.

  • Sunday: Arron and Scott bicker over the name of the statue bust that Scott has decorated. Arron and Sara also discuss how awkward it is that the others are trying to play matchmaker but Sara also isn’t giving Arron clear signal whether she likes him back either and he doesn’t like feeling pressure to have a chat with her in front of everyone just because others are talking kinda thing because it feels forced and awkward.
  • Today’s mini secret task is centred around making Shievonne too paranoid to visit the diary room as one by one the housemates come out made up looking like they’ve just been through something horrendous.
  • Ashleigh gets gunged in pink and yellow slip, Becky gets an ‘under the sea’ look with wet octopus and seaweed, Scott gets muddy, Arron comes out with fake smoke marks and like something exploded on him, Deana gets feathered, and LukeS is so immobilised head to toe in gaffa tape that Conor has to carry him out of the Diary room.
  • Lauren is playing up nerves having to go in there, and Shievonne is next, at first she says she will just take a look then nope out, but they successfully convince her not to go in and win the task.
  • Caroline upsets Scott as she tells him he hasn’t spoken to her in 3 days and its like he’s only talking to her about Conor trying to influence people cause he thinks Conor is trying to turn Caroline against him as he told Becky, but is later speaking to her again. Conor and Arron ask BB in the diary room if everyone can be up and they can do a secret task, then fake one by wiping Scott’s writing off of the bust in bathroom.

  • Monday: Nominations. BB corrects Sara that it was not a task Conor/Arron had to move the statue from the bedroom to the bathroom and she thinks it was not on so nominates Arron and tells Scott about moving it not being a task. Nominations Arron on 5, then Becky, Deana and Conor all tied on 3pts. It’s also breaking the pattern that was forming of the bottom row of portraits going one by one in reverse order of their entry order into the house. Arron is annoyed and throws water on Beckys mattress which she finds later.
  • Conor was nominated by many as he seems too confident. Scott has been increasingly annoyed at Arron, and Caroline gets upset about him being off with her as well thinking Arron and Conor are turning her against him, as Arron and Scott Clash later on over some cans.
  • Scott is a bit drunk and starts calling him out in front of everyone from the table and also being mouthy in front of the mirror, calling him a ‘rapscallion’ (a posh style term for a rascal rogue) which upsets Caroline as she’s feeling awkward about being put in the middle.

  • Tuesday: Caroline fills Shievonne in, who was sleeping last night on the nights drunken nastiness towards one another.
  • This weeks shopping task is ‘Turf Wars’ which is kinda like Rich vs Poor/ Heaven and Hell again but in a different way, as housemates were first asked to pair up (Shievonne taking the odd one out/‘Billy no mates’ role) and then being lined up and split into top and bottom deck being Green and Blue team, with Shievonne joining the Blues. Greens: Adam, LukeS, Deana, Arron, Scott, Becky. Blues: Ashleigh, Shievonne, Conor, LukeA, Lauren, Sara, Caroline.
  • They will compete in several challenges to win control of different areas of the house, and the ultimate prize is the diary room and control of nominations next week, but they don’t know that yet.
  • The first challenge is for the Kitchen, and exclusive access to the luxury shopping budget. Its a tug of war as pairs are tethered together and must try and bag as many grocery items on their side as possible for points. The strength ratio is a little bit weighted towards Greens in some of the match ups they put in, although Conor puts up a good effort to nab 20 points against Adam for the Blues, it ultimately goes to the Greens. The Blues have to make do with the ration fridge and trunk next to the Diary Room.
  • Scott appears to be speaking to Arron again on same team while sober. Meanwhile Shievonne and Ashleigh think Lauren and co are lying about having extra cigs as they can see them rolling outside but they’re actually scrummaging from the ashes for stuff to roll.
  • Task two for the living and dining areas is the teams rearranging them on the couches in order from least to most Bitchy, Attractive, etc. while Shievonne and LukeS guess in the diary room. Every correct placing wins a point and Blues take out that one.

  • Wednesday: Day 2 of Turf Wars. Battle for the bathroom is a relay where they had to transport a rubber duck out of a toilet filled with gloop with their mouth to a bathtub. Blues finish quickest but BB disqualified them and hands the bathroom to green as Sara dropped her duck then tossed it to the bath using her hands. The Blues will have to use a bag shower.
  • The bedroom is the next room, where 3 from each team (G: Deana, Becky, Scott/ B: Conor, Caroline, Lauren) had to sit with a blanket and teddy in the diary room and guess who said the bitchy comment about them.
  • Greens win 3 to 2, and They discuss some of he comments, like Deana wasn’t impressed with Conor ‘Its like she has a split personality, he doesn’t know my personality’. Blues have to sleep on sleeping bags in large task room. Ashleigh walks into the bedroom so blues have to do washing up for the Green in Tubs.
  • Adam and Lauren appear to have been flirting a little lately, he also told LukeA he liked her.

BBUK13 Week 5 Part b
  • Thursday: this weeks BOTS segment where they ask the nominees viewer questions in a group in the Diary room was pretty awkward, with Arron and Conor making Deana & Becky sit on the floor in front them and taking cheap shots at each other (Arron flipping them off behind their backs at various points). Afterwards Arron comes to the bedroom to talk it out with Deana Becky and Scott about how Becky also takes the piss out of him and sometimes takes it far or something like that.
  • The turf war for the garden and pool is a best of 3 first to sink in pairs bailing out water from a boat in the pool. LukeA gets back at LukeS steamrolling him in the tug of war challenge, whilst Adam and Becky go overboard to my heart will go on as the edit music. Blue team wins the Garden and raises their flag.
  • However later on Arron’s gotten restless again and fed up with the people on his team, and decides to be rebellious and goes and jumps in the pool and raises the green flag, writing ‘F U BB’ on his chest and going on a bit of a rant when called to the diary room. BB calms him down and Arron agrees it might have come off slightly aggressive and wipes the writing off himself. BB tells the house a punishment will come for the greens in due course.

  • Friday: BB wakes the housemates with the announcement that Greens will lose the luxury budget and everyone will be on the ration trunk, furthermore the kitchen and bathroom are off limits until the end of the task (the zones will continue until nominations). LukeS is fuming (this is now the second time he’s lost the protein powder) and tells Arron he didn’t consider that the green team had more to lose as Arron apologises that he thought it would be on the same level as the blues having to wash the green's dishes.
  • Adam gets some payback on Arron by grabbing one of the blue tubs with some anchovies milk and water and tipping it on Arron in bed. He says if Arron stays tonight he might do it every time he switches beds until the task is over, to which Arron tells him as he sets up the bag shower to clean off that he made his point and got him back that’s enough now.

  • Later the eviction takes place and I thought it was probably one of the wildest/kinda dramatic and entertaining ones yet this season imo the way it played out, maybe rivalling Benedict’s with the chair.
  • Deana is saved first, followed by Becky, leaving the house kinda shocked and now it’s down to the two boys, Conor now wanting his name to be called to go so Arron stays, but… it’s Arron. Conor: "FOCK!" and goes to walk off. Brian: "Arron, you have 30 seconds to say your goodbyes.. BEHAVE". Lol. After the eviction Conor is then shown crying next to the bedroom door being consoled by LukeS, Shievonne and Ashleigh. It’s kinda similar to the same point last season when Anton was shocked he didn’t go over Aden, could we see Conor perhaps having a bit of a humbling moment there. Sara also suddenly starts sobbing and wants to be out soon, apparently something to do with Caroline (LukeA and Lauren discuss how it seems like she’s running the house and influential that sorta thing iirc) and takes her aside to sort it out. And meanwhile Deana and Becky celebrate.

  • BOTS: the Sunday boys vs girls Diary room pub quiz segment continues, it’s borderline outside information with some of the questions, but they aren’t giving them the answers and it’s multiple choice, so it’s still vague enough to slip in then current hot topics like which countries made the Euro finals or which celeb couple announced a divorce (it’s Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes which I remember being a shock at the time) indirectly and non confirming.
  • Thursdays ep was an all Welsh Panel of Imogen and Glyn from bb7, with Gareth Thomas. Some other guests were Jeff Leach, Ryan Maloney & Eve Morey from Neighbours, Nasty Nick, Sinitta, Jodie Marsh, Frankie Cocozza with a bit of a haircut, Gemma Collins, etc Iain Lee filled in for Jamie one ep, and Jamie had a VT visiting Gos from BB4.
  • This week’s Karaoke Saturday outro was Arron singing Wham - I’m your Man switching to his red hot pants outfit midway through, lol.

    Onto the next few episodes!

Finished up through the Week 8 Eviction over the weekend, just doing a loop through of my notes so Wk6-8 recap coming soon, then I’ll continue with week 9. ;)

BBUK13 Week 6
  • Saturday: it’s Shievonne’s Bday but she’s not feeling it, the Turf Wars task has been rough. However Ashleigh gets a diary room task to write her a birthday song, which wins Shievonne a bday message from her Nieces. She also gets a cake.
  • The next turf wars task is for the ‘Secret Room’ which is revealed to be behind the curtain to the right of the Diary room (behind the bedroom, probably about the same position as the bedroom from BB12). In groups of 3, they must all guess the same breath smell from the one to their right and not break the chain. So if the middle person guesses wrong and eats the right item and the 3rd gets it right, that’s still a fail. Blues win 3-2.
  • They get popcorn and drinks etc in the Secret room and get to pick a housemate to watch answer ‘Viewer q’s’ When it’s really the Blue team picking from questions on the walls. They Choose Adam, and Shievonne is not impressed with her being his answers to who is the fakest (Crying on cue). Adam thinks he has worked it out what it was when they exit at about the same time. LukeA confirms it with a nod. Meanwhile after building a mattress fort together Scott and Becky have a mini falling out when Scott gets upset over Becky saying he was being nasty to her when they were outside or something.

  • Sunday: Shievonne and Adam have it out over his comments last night where he didn’t think he had an audience and feels bad he was put in that position on Shiv’s Bday and apologises to her. Shievonne walks out on him upset and Adam throws his tin across the room and goes to the bedroom, where Lauren and LukeA cross lines to console him. Lauren cant believe Conor is still trying to influence nominations by speaking in bad code with initials and tells BB in the diary room when she didn’t need to, BB can see what’s going on plain as. LukeA and Lauren conspire with Deana that maybe they should try and throw the last task (Control of the Diary Room) if its Nominations related. Its confirmed, and LukeA and Adam put themselves forward for the task which is to unlock a box from a multiple key ring, then correctly do two maths tasks how many noms they’ve received from their team plus who is the most nominated housemate. Although he was trying to throw it, LukeA wins it for the blues and is shown in the diary room. Until BB dsq’s the Blues for Conors noms rule break and Awards Greens the Diary room. Conor is not happy and is thinking of walking if he’s not up (although Judy James was back with some interesting body language analysis during the week on BOTS about the way the task played out and such). Tbf LukeA and Lauren’s earlier breach cost blues their access the Pool and hot tub as well. Meanwhile Scott and Becky seem to have made up.

  • Monday: Nominations. LukeS Still nominates 2 green team in Deana and Adam but its Conor and Shievonne up on 3 pts each. More on this later, but I also had a thought perhaps with the back and forth on the rule breaking and such an interesting way to perhaps wrangle a double eviction in there maybe could've been something like both teams only being allowed to nominate their own team members, and the top 2 (or more) of each going up for a double eviction, one with the least saves on either side to be evicted, or maybe they are all automatically nominated and the same is done, only the least nominated housemates get immunity from the double or something like that.
  • Maybe that would've meant they would extend the Turf wars config/reshuffle for another week/few days until the eviction, but OTOH it had done a decent job of a task that shook the dynamics up enough already iykwim and didn't need to stretch on a few extra weeks like with BB3 and BB9.
  • The Task is declared over and the housemates are over the moon about having access back to the kitchen. Scott has another trim and goes to short blonde hair. BB gives an uplift task to win takeaway to Scott and Lauren to use proverbs with other housemates and get everyone into a big group hug.
  • BB announces the nominations. Shievonne thinks she knows exactly who nominated her because there was only 5 to pick from and lets loose at Deana later on when BB gives a noms talk violation punishment turning off hot water for Conor and Co at it again speculating about nominations (Caroline cant fathom why nobody has put LukeA up).
  • Shievonne is upset at Deana for telling her don’t be silly when she was upset about Arron getting evicted, and thinks Deana is saying she nominated her because she turned on her after a couple days or something. Shievonne thinks Deana seems a bit lost and seeking friendships with her and Deana still thinks Conor is out to get her out, he also had a bit of a say during the argument.

  • Tuesday: Sara tried to back Deana up the previous night and Shievonne tells her she shouldn’t butt in because she doesn’t know the whole story, and has another talk with Deana outside. Shievonne thinks that Deana is trying to talk to others to get sympathy and why do the others feel the need to back her up. Deana tries to tell her she’s not needing to get sympathy for others she genuinely didn’t know what the problem was when Shievonne wasn’t speaking to her.I also think maybe Shievonne just has some baggage and is now on the over defensive because she’s nominated. She tells Deana to ‘wake up and smell the hummus’ Lol. They agree to just call a truce for now.
  • Mini task for a party and to win party items is a quiz topics for each housemate randomly selected. Conor gets a good one with Science and Nitrogen was the answer in the earths atmosphere. They also get a free pass to put one of the items they lost back on and they choose the group spray tanning session. After the party Deana and Shievonne are discussing how Lauren seems to be a bit of a gossip queen so they want to test her by Deana speaking to her about Ashleigh and see if it gets back to Shievonne.

  • Wednesday & Thursday: shopping task is centred around ‘rule breakers’ as the 3 ‘bossiest’ housemates are called to the diary room (they volunteer LukeA, Adam and LukeS) and become Rule Wardens. The task result will be weighed on them spotting any rule breaks by the others, as various rules have been set up around the house such as no ball games, smokers must dress in a costume and bounce on a trampoline then go for a decontamination foam shower, seatbelts must be worn on the couch, they must roly poly to and from the diary room, etc. If the housemates get two rule break stickers in a row they must be sent to the naughty corner of the yard to paint rocks white. Conor and Caroline decide to test this out almost immediately.
  • On top of that, BB drops some random new rules at various points such as only interesting conversations . Also gives the wardens secret incentive to be the one with the most tickets given out. Lauren is annoyed with Adam eating a sandwich without offering to give her some, while thinks LukeA is singling her out a bit for rule breaks. Shievonne comes out of the diary room with a placard that she can’t talk with her hands and resorts to holding some fruit to stop herself.
  • BB also calls some of the housemates in with one of the wardens to complete mini diary room tasks with some extra rules. Caroline puts on a dramatic scene about retrieving batteries from mystery boxes without asking questions, Ashleigh can’t make noises while some things are poured from above, Sara mustn’t cry whilst a message from home is played, and Conor can’t say yes or no to BB’s questions but also can’t repeat himself so has to come up with different ways to answer.
  • However it turns out that it was as easy a task to fail as it seemed to be to pass, as they incurred about 5 fails, the number of allowed fails was 0, nil.

  • Friday: there’s a scream the loudest task in the diary room. Later Becky asks Lauren if she wants to come out of the bedroom for some of whatever she’s baked but thinks she’s being moody with her which upsets Lauren because she can hear Becky go back to the group and everyone talking about her. LukeA comes to console Lauren in the bathroom telling her not to work herself up about them.
  • BB announces Lauren won the scream task and she gets ice cream in the diary room. Shievonne is evicted, Adam grabbing her vacant double bed in the corner, meanwhile Conor seems to be trying to clear the slate with Becky and Scott to get on their good side.
  • Becky Conor and Ashleigh secretly drink one of the bottles of wine delivered to the storeroom and Scott finds out when BB tells him in the diary room 2 bottles were delivered.

  • BOTS: Jamie’s Bedtime Story this week was framed/Themed around from the XXX Film sounding script he found during Arron’s home visit VT the other week. Tuesday’s show had a Newcastle themed panel with Michelle Bass, Sophie & Gaz (who knows LukeS apparently) from Geordie Shore. BB8’s Carole had an agony aunt segment, Simon Greenhall played the fact or Fiction game about LukeS, and Benedict had a half season report segment acting as a teacher. Stats man Christian was also back on.
  • Some of the other guests included Kirsten O’Brien, Luke Marsden, Patrick Strudwick, Josie Gibson, Jeff’s karaoke intro’s of the evictees continue, Chris was back in a dream sequence skit of Emma’s singing Karaoke to Eminem/Dido ‘Stan’ with Rustie Lee doing Dido’s part, and Shievonne’s Karaoke outro was One Direction’s ‘What Makes You Beautiful’, with lots of hand actions.

BBUK13 Week 7
  • Saturday: Conor and Deana get their noms conversations played out yet AGAIN and get punishment to ‘work together’ to do the house’s washing laundry in tubs outside. Becky Tells Caroline that Lauren went to the Diary room before to tell them about Conor speaking in code initials and also they tell Conor - they’re referring to her as the ‘wooden spoon’.
  • Scott has to gather the housemates for a secret task when LukeS is called to the diary room. Its one of those Fake photoshoots from a media company but the others have to act like they don’t know about him talking to them and being asked to play up to the cameras by pranking with Conor, getting some drama with Ashleigh and leading a workout class for the next hour.
  • Later its revealed and the housemates win some nibbles while viewing the pics, LukeS feels a bit embarrassed and made to look silly a bit (with his answer to the suggestion he could do the bachelor after this) but hopes people can see that he really does like Ashleigh but doesn’t know how it will go on the outside kinda thing.

  • Sunday: Shopping task is brought forward this week; (as it turns out, it’s related to nominations as well): Good, Bad and Really Ugly task with a wild west theme. Conor comes to Diary room first so is made Sheriff, choosing Caroline as his deputy. Together they pick 3 each group for The Good (Scott, Sara, LukeS), The Bad (Adam, Deana, Ashleigh, who must be chained together most times) and The Really Ugly (LukeA, Lauren, and Becky). They will do various tasks to gain extra time for their group in the final challenge.
  • First is 'Raw Hide' where a rep from each team tries to paint ball one of the others in the stocks. LukeS moves his butt around while Adam is shooting, then Ashleigh forfeits the Bad side when she swaps out for Lauren. Conor and Caroline pick Scott (Good) as the winner. Next theres a band playing ring of fire as the three teams rehearse and perform a hoedown to it. The Really ugly put on a real show in theirs and win.
  • Afterward Deana is super frustrated as she thinks Becky is trying to start argument with her about cornflakes in the sink (which she never has done she says) in front of everyone for noms while She also thinks Caroline and Luke S Becky etc are talking shit about who they don’t like to indirectly plan for noms whilst they are outside (and Lauren looks over at Caroline looking like she’s taking the piss imitating her it seems). Meanwhile Lauren and Adam flirt some more.

  • Monday: Part 2 of Wild West Task. Becky gets annoyed at LukeA not trying in the Spaghetti eating challenge (he thinks there might be something else going on in the task), meanwhile Scott catches Lauren checking if he’s blabbed to Caroline in the bathroom about what LukeA and Lauren were just talking about in the bedroom.
  • The finale task for the shopping (and also immunity from nominations) is a panning for gold task which has been set up in the yard. The good get a head start first followed by ugly and bad teams. The good team wins immunity (LukeS, Sara, Scott) with the most gold collected, but combined they don’t pass the task as it didn’t reach the line.
  • This week it’s face to face Noms, and it’s done by selecting two cards out a pack before they begin unlike the debacle from BB12, haha. Lauren & LukeA are up, LukeA is feeling a bit dejected afterwards that it seems he’s not that liked in the house and now one of his crew is definitely gone home this week.
  • Deana gets another hot water ban for discussing noms in two separate discussions and feels bad about it. Adam is annoyed with her about the comment that the others are suggesting and influencing his nom of her and thinks she’s always bringing it back to herself that LukeA and Lauren are up like she’s next. Bit of a divide, and Adam moves beds so he’s not sleeping next to Deana.

  • Tuesday: Bit of a filler/breather episode as we had the shopping task and noms a bit front-loaded this week. LukeA tries to do the rounds to clear the air with LukeS, Caroline and Becky. Sara gets on Adam’s case about isolating Deana by moving beds and He and Deana clear it up.
  • Caroline is pulled up for behaviour that might come off as bullying and clears the air with Lauren. Becky and Deana do the shopping list as they said they wanted to last week. Lauren and Sara get called to the diary room for yet another noms discussion about Week 3, and have to wear ‘You cant trust me I talk about noms’ T-shirts for the night.
  • Ashleigh again gets paranoid and feeling insecure about her ability to cook and like LukeS might have more in common with Lauren but he reassures her, while Caroline is upset it seems like she’s coming off a bitch in the Diary room now LukeA and Lauren have been nice to her all day.

  • Wednesday: Mini task for the Boys: Speed dating with Sara. However whilst she’s in the diary room thinking its who spends most time on date with her before she buzzes them out will win a prize. its actually ‘Speed Haters’ and the opposite. Adam tries asking if she puts out on the first date, Whilst LukeA wins by saying he’s married and so not down for this task at just 17 seconds, and takes Adam with him for a lads night and Wii in the small task room.
  • Scott and Ashleigh get pulled up with a warning for possibly stereotyping Deana eating with her hands as a cultural thing whilst Ashleigh gets a warning about her talking about Deana could be perceived as bullying. LukeA Tells Lauren Adam likes her and Adam and Lauren kinda have an awkward chat how they don’t wanna ruin the friendship and Lauren thinks its the environment perhaps making it worse for Adam latching onto her for affection kinda thing as well.

  • Thursday: Adam and Lauren still kinda awkward around each other as Lauren Tells LukeA what was said last night but then Her and Adam end up just carrying on mucking about as per usual.
  • Mini task for drinks, Sara comes to Diary room as ‘most genuine’ housemate and is hooked up to a lie detector but she doesn’t know its not switched on, and the Truth or Lie is judged by the others watching on the lounge screen. She passes by answering most questions truthfully as judged by housemates.
  • Later Sara Explains to Adam about her answer to who would you most not want to live with in the house being him that she just thought of her disagreement with him about the moving beds away from Deana thing even though they resolved it, just to give an answer, but she doesn’t still hold it against him or anything like that, it was just for the purpose of the task kinda thing.

  • Friday: Mini Diary room task for a prize is stuffing a marshmallow in their mouth then answering a question. Winner is the one that can fit the most in their mouth whilst still giving a coherent answer. Sara 3rd getting 21 marshmallows, Conor 2nd with 22 and LukeS wins with 24, The prize? The 24 marshmallows in another jar.
  • Lauren is Evicted (apparently it was about a 7% difference this week), and Caroline and Conor seem to be slightly paranoid again about hearing their names being chanted to get out. Caroline is salty with LukeA about him coming across like he’s gleefully playing on it to Caroline. LukeA has a chat with Ashleigh about thinking Becky is fake, it backfires on him though as Ashleigh promptly goes back to bitch straight to Becky, who comes out and confronts LukeA who stands his ground on his opinion that it feels like Becky suddenly changed towards him (like Saying good morning evictee that morning) and started chumming up with Conor after previously not getting on with him. Becky whines about it to Ashleigh and Conor.

  • BOTS: Jamie’s Bedtime story outro this week is full of ‘Shievonneisms’ whilst he gets his hair done in cornrows by Shievonne, Alice filled in for him during the matesquiz VT this week, while on the same episode Ortis Deley did the phoneroom. There was a midweek Song outro about the housemates by a comedy boyband? ‘Rogue 5’, and This weeks gameplayers segment featured Lydia and was themed around a dance studio with the faces on the board.
  • Lydia also appeared in a VT with Chris, Benedict and Victoria called ‘Dish on the Side’ where they went to dinner and chatted about the house. Dianne Youdale was back with some analysis, and some other guests thsi week included BB8’s Liam (who went on some interesting long winded tangents), BB7’s Lea for the BB Birthday ep where Emma visited the Diary room, Angellica Bell, Harry Derbridge/Kirk Norcross from TOWIE and even Roland Rat among others.
  • Saturday’s episode was a bit chaotic with Jedward dropping in on the phoneroom segment, changing some of Jamie’s banned words of the ep board in the background to ‘Jedward’ and ‘Britney’, playing fact or fiction whilst eating spaghetti, and crowdsurfing and backup dancing during Lauren’s Karaoke outro, Journey’s Don’t Stop Believin, which ran out of time for the end of episode before they even got to the Don’t Stop Believin part lol. Maybe they could’ve cut a verse.

BBUK13 Week 8
  • Saturday: its Letters from Home Task, everyone gets a dilemma to win one letter from home for another housemate which will be randomly selected from a post box. Sara had to give up her eviction outfit and dress up as The Queen, Becky has to hop on a bike, LukeS loses the protein powder AGAIN by having to mix it into a gunge tub. Deana loses her makeup, Conor has to be gagged all afternoon, whilst Scott has to slip into a Macclesfield accent where he’s originally from, and they get Caroline with the fish eye eating thing for a second time.
  • LukeA has to give up the tobacco for the afternoon whilst looking after a temptation pack, and Adam’s is to patrol a dinghy boat in the pool. Ashleigh Fails her no swearing task so Deana ends up being the one to miss out on her letter. They both feel bad about it but then make up. Even Conor felt bad for Deana. Earlier Ashleigh and LukeS also bickered about him making a communal dish with Chilli that Ashleigh doesn’t like . LukeA and Becky also seemed to make amends for their argument but Becky telling Conor and Ashleigh after she felt awkward?

  • Sunday: There’s a mini task to win a Pool Party, they must relay through a balance beam and onto spinning platforms where they have to transfer their blow up tubes from one to the other housemate. Ashleigh’s still feeling guilty over Deana’s letter but also in the process not wanting hers read out and thinking she looked ungrateful for not appreciating it enough because of the situation she put herself and Deana in. BB gives Ashleigh a clown dress up task during the party to win Deana’s Letter. Afterwards Deana Adam and LukeA wonder if they’ll be picked off again for noms this week.

  • Monday: there’s a Nominations twist; housemates are unaware anyone who gets a nomination point will be up. It would’ve just been Deana ahead on 4 and LukeA/Caroline on 3 iirc, but it brought up five others on 2 and 1pt also. Only Scott and Becky received no noms. Scott and Conor cant work out why Adam is saying its not a good feeling when theres 8 people up, Caroline is expecting she might go but is thinking she might cause some chaos like failing the shopping task or sabotaging the list to spend a heap on Nutella or something.

  • Tuesday: This week’s shopping task is themed around different types of ‘Parties’. Housemates must attend various parties during the course of the task. First is a children’s party with a relay through a jumping castle, Goodie bag, ball pit, face paint etc. they pass doing the course in about 12 something out of 15 minutes time limit.
  • Next the girls all go to a big slumber party in large task room where Ashleigh is overheard by LukeS and Conor saying sometimes she thinks LukeS smells of onions and fancied Conor when she first walked in. The Boys must bet on the winner of a pillow fight tournament and go with Sara but Becky beats her in the final round who was their second choice. LukeS confronts Ashleigh about her comments and it’s like digging herself a bit of a hole.
  • At the Fancy dinner party where they are discussing topics of regrets and how LukeA wishes he’d transitioned earlier, Caroline finds it a bit awkwardly funny. Ashleigh also thinks LukeS is taking the piss when he tells her when she licked her plate that probably wasn’t the most dignified behaviour for that part of the task. I think they passed that part anyway. Lastly for the night Ashleigh, Deana, and Conor (picked by Ashleigh as revealed on BOTS) dance in a rave in small task room to ‘Everybody Dance now’ on loop. Deana LukeA and Adam are now talking about their group being like 'soldiers'.

  • Wednesday: Day 2 of the parties task. When Housemates hear Big Ben in the lounge chime, they must assemble and sing auld lang syne at the New Year’s party. Next it’s a Political ‘Party’ debate where LukeS and Scott are arguing for/against Winning BB by playing the game vs being yourself. The housemates all secret ballot vote for Scott and LukeS and Scott guess Scott won correctly in the Diary room.
  • Next up is Office Party games. Sara and Deana, Adam and LukeA, and Scott and Becky have been paired up as Boss and PA respectively. BB gives Sara and Deana a secret task to pass at least 2 of the three party games. Deana sabotages the first game by spinning Sara’s office chair close to Becky and Scott, and Sara wins the race to pour her coffee into a flask and eat the biscuit challenge.
  • Next is dialling BB to guess the housemate weird sounds, which Adam wins. Then Deana and Sara conspire to cheat the Pictionary round by drawing initials in their picture (Becky does a well endowed impression of Arron but Scott still doesn’t get it lol). Resulting in Deana’s second picture being just Conor with half C then a full circle head and Sara guessing it right away. It has Adam Questioning Deana’s loyalty but then all is revealed as the housemates pass the whole shop budget.
  • Earlier Sara had a disagreement with Caroline thinking she was belittling her and taking the piss during discussion on a Scottish person bringing up Loch Ness Monster and a McDonalds near the pyramids or something, and now She’s paranoid about Becky falling out with her and she has a cry in the Diary room thinking she’s being seen as confrontational?

  • Thursday: Caroline decides to go through with her plan to sabotage the Shopping List and pretty much blows the lot on chocolate and biscuits and stuff. This pisses off Adam and LukeA in particular who are beside themselves that she’s done it and doesn’t give a toss. Luke also makes a heat of the moment comment along the lines of that Becky ‘respects the rest of the house like she respects her BMI’ in regards to being on Caroline’s side which seems a bit of a low blow and not a particularly nice thing to say regardless of if Becky seems to be confident in her own skin kinda thing as one angle of it was framed on BOTS ymmv.
  • Scott isn’t very happy with her either and Adam isn’t going to share the discretionary tobacco pouch with Ashleigh at first because he thinks she knew Caroline was going to do it, but after she has a hissy fit on way to diary room and calms down, He doles some out but LukeA and Adam aren’t going to be quick to speak with them or Becky anytime soon.
  • Caroline thinks she’s definitely going so creating Chaos. BOTS showed LukeS winning a Personality Bingo task where the others all described him as ‘Cheesy’ to win a platter of protein (Chicken, Fish etc) meal in the Diary room.

  • Friday: Conor’s 25th Birthday, He gets a secret task to tell a whopping lie to each of the housemates (BOTS revealed it was Alice doing the BB Voice for this). He completes it with tall tales about his personal life as well as about the Eviction.
  • Deana and Sara have a disagreement over Deana saying she’s glad she met someone like Caroline (although she doesn’t like how she bitches) but finds her character intriguing to watch, getting Sara offside by saying in the heat of argument that Sara made herself look good by saying she doesn’t like Carolines behaviour but now wont listen to Deana explain her opinion. But they get over it and apologise when Conor’s Soccer game theme party starts.
  • Eviction is on, voting lines are frozen at several points during the episode and some saved housemates removed from the vote. Until its down to LukeS and Caroline. Caroline seems quite drunk on the boos she gets and is Evicted. I’m kinda surprised at who is Saving some such as Ashleigh and Sara, but then again it might have also come down to some tactical voting by the public to hone in on getting Caroline out if it was enough to sway the vote in the short vote freeze periods or something perhaps as well. Adam and LukeA hardly even acknowledge Caroline as she heads out, remaining on the couch. LukeS and Becky look over to the garden and think Sara is now being sucked into LukeA’s outsiders group.

  • BOTS: There was some interesting noms stats on BOTS: ‘Golden’ Themed show for the 50th episode of the season (featuring Terry Christian, Aisleyne and Rav Wlding), such as none of the existing housemates having nominated Scott, Conor has never nominated a male housemate, LukeS has only ever nominated ‘The Outsiders’, and Sara has never nominated the same housemate two weeks in a row. Housemate strategy chat was with Brian Belo this week with cake themed party groups.
  • Alice Filled in for Emma hosting towards the end of the week, With Dr Pam Spurr and Diane Youdale again had some interesting psych analysis segments. The White Room was teased for next week, and there still not being a double eviction in Jamie’s chat with eviction show producer Jamie. Some of the other guests this week included Eugene from BB6, Benedict, Iain Lee, Benedict, Christopher Biggins, Tom BB12, etc. and The Voice’s Sam Buttery helped out Caroline on B*Witched’s ‘Cest La Vie’ as this week’s Karaoke Outro.

I've pretty much finished out the end of BB13 now, just doing some loop back and clean up of some of the BOTS and Final week dailies and stuff. I've also made a start on CBB10, Should have the end of Season wrap ups and CBB10 Opening thoughts up soon. ;)

I literally just started the UK 2023 season in the lead-up to BBAU, but omg 20mins in and it’s giving major Channel 7 BB in so so many ways. The influence is uncanny, and it ain’t a good thing. Please tell me it gets better.

It’s might be mainly the BB voice, it’d be good if they went back to using the voice booth and different voices imo. But Some of the tasks are fun though and some house dynamics between the housemates. ;)

It’s the BB voice, opening montage, production values, the hosts’ script and mini games. It’s almost like what Seven’s BBAU could have looked like if it was a live format.

At least so far. I hope it levels out.

Yeah, the launch with its intro and also some elements of the house were 100% inspired by the Channel 7 run... pre-launch they pretty much said so that they took a page from how Big Brother lives inside the house (or whatever phrase they have used). There will be more tasks that appeared on the 7 version, too.

What you might also call inspired by 7 is that the narrative of the ITV version is generally quite task-driven, not just for the launch. It feels like they have tasks every day, which leads to some rewards, which will then render the result of the shopping task pointless. And that might be my biggest criticism of the ITV run: It's not people-driven.

But while it's clearly inspired by the 7 version (like a lot of international franchises), it's definitely better than the 7 version. Overall, I thought the 2023 was still quite enjoyable, especially the first half of the season. I do think producers panicked a bit later on and meddled too much with the tasks and twists every day.. which made the series less exciting than the Channel 4 run or the final year on Channel 5. But better than a lot of what Channel 5 aired at one point.

While some UK viewers (especially the ones that were crazy about the Channel 5) missed the drama and screaming, I enjoyed the 2023 cast. I remember them better than I remember last year's cast.

Okay I’ve changed my tune. Episode 4 - the Big Wigs/Middle Men/Bottoms task. I have literally laughed out loud at more one-liners and reactions than I think I have at any show in a long time. This cast is hilarious.
