BB/CBB UK - Rewatch discussions

another last thoughts on BB12. Both the Palmer sisters seemed to have speculation about what their actual age was as well, I remember Faye's intro VT had her at 20, then after a few would refer to her being 'only 19... is she 19?' and then The BB Eye Art judging segment on BOTS had her as '19-20-21?' and now I see wikipedia lists her as 22 at the time. Jem on the other hand appeared to be caught out during the Icemates task iirc revealing her real age as 28 and not 25 she presented as initially (She has her own wiki page with more info about her appearance on Gladiators, with her birth date).

Also I knew Aaron was the winner beforehand but every time he was up it wasn't a H2H (except the Aaron V Jem week initially) so there was still some mystery there for me who would go. It was interesting watching though as well becuase I was trying to figure out how he pulled it off being on the outs of the house from practically the outset at times there, He was fortunate to have had a good support from the public I suppose all those times he was up and through to the Finale.

CBB9 (Jan 2012) Begins
Week 1 Part a (Launch to Day 7 Eviction):
  • Launch: The house has been given a bit of a spruce up, bit of a cozy brown and Red kinda decor happening in the lounge, kinda reminded me a little of CBB7 also with a bit more Wooden style flooring in the garden it seems, the heated lounge area off to the side with a fireplace motif plus the Suana has been replaced with a Hotub in the corner there. The Bath has been moved to the corner of the bathroom, and The Bedroom has a cool teal kindof feel with dark carpet and a hint of some purple maybe, It reminds me a little of BB7’s Bedroom in some ways. The Diary room chair is kinda like a tree branch without leaves. The Eye logo has a purple storm cloud theme in it.
  • First housemate in is Natalie Cassidy, who is an Actress that has been on Eastenders. Opening night twist seems to be a revisit of the BB in your earpiece secret task like in Celeb Hijack, only this time if Natalie fails any instructions, a housemate loses their suitcase until further notice. Next in is American Actor Michael Madsen who was in Reservoir Dogs. We got some familiar faces like Andrew Stone and Nicola MacClean who we have seen on the show or on the side shows before, Plus some archetypal kinda casting of Kirk Norwood from TOWIE, an X Factor Contestant in Frankie Cocozza (had an ejection scandal from the season just played) Natasha Giggs, a ‘celeb by proxy’ who’s backstory is her 8 year affair with her BIL, a football player Ryan Giggs, and theres another set of Twins, this time its Karissa & Kristina Shannon, who have been in the Playboy mansion.
  • Rounding out the cast we have Gareth Thomas, a Welsh rugby player who recently came out, Georgia Salpa, and Irish model who kinda looks similar to Kim Kardashian, Romeo (from So Solid Crew), and Denise Welch (From Loose Women and Corrie).
  • Natalie does well with her task, including kissing Frankie at several points, Constantly telling Nicola she’s ok with her being in the house after they’ve apparently had some Twitter wars; and trying to do an emotional speech and crying. She only gets one fail which when revealed to the others, Romeo puts himself forward to give up his suitcase for now.

  • Friday: Mini task to win back Romeo’s suitcase is to find out which of them fit in the ‘connection point’ between two statements to light up the circuit to the light bulb at the end. They each tell their stories including Andrew Stone Auditioned for X Factor in the early seasons. They succeed in finding the connections. Later Kirk gets a Diary room task played to the others to win an Essex themed party by locating same named places around the world on a world map, however he gets everything quite wrong except for of corse, Essex. Geography not his strong suit clearly. Afterwards he seems to be trying to flirt with Georgia.

  • Saturday: Jodie Marsh is the special guest in the house today setting a task based around bodybuilding competitions. The Housemates are divided into red and Blue teams with team captains Romeo and Gareth and are set some mini challenges. Natalie and Michael have an egg eating face off, Natalie wins as Michael left one part of his egg on the floor off the table. Next they all get fake tanned up like bodybuilders and pose for Jodie. She gives Blue team some extra seconds head start for the final in that one.
  • Next K & K face off in a Bleep test in large task room which is based around walking down a catwalk and posing for the camera flash at the end. Final Task is team captains to climb to the top of a 50 ft(?) ladder rope picking up letters of ‘Celebrity’ along way, Gareth gets 5 second head start but Romeo overtakes and wins a dinner for Red team. Later The Twins are joking with Kirk and Frankie, earlier they said Kirk talks too much and may be trying to hard to get with them in diary room, Then Frankie asking about Playboy mansion again, they offend him for a moment calling him Justin Bieber. Nicola and Kirk have chat in the bath to end the episode.

  • Sunday: Nominations: Andrew 7, Georgia 5. Andrew cops a lot for making them too aware of the Cameras. He seems to get in a mood about it but insists he’s fine and he’s just feeling judged but if he goes out he has his head held high that he’s being himself. Nicola asks Georgia about her boobs and the girls all flock to the bathroom to compare. K&K and Georgia compare nominations so it looks like they are still letting them talk about noms freely as there was no pull up by BB.

  • Monday: Jedward return to the house to small task room as Heavenly Cherubs that have a little statue out in the garden lounge area that they use to secretly talk to Denise and Natalie and give them secret tasks. First to take Michaels cowboy hat and deliver it to their hatch, Make Karissa a sandwich and deliver it after she’s taken a bite, and get a lock of Frankie’s Hair (which Denise gets doing some type of pre stage get together thing she says she did). They win a secret wine and dinner in Diary room. Andrew was in a mood still earlier and Natalie said she felt the atmosphere but he’s improved and leading the house in a dance routine with some group choreography.

  • Tuesday: Shopping task is themed around Fairytale land, with Marcus Bentley narrating whilst reading it like a storybook kinda thing. Karissa comes to Diary room first and is cast as Goldilocks picking the other roles. The other characters will all face tasks in order to keep 100 of the 600 coins in the chest in the garden for the shopping budget.
  • First task is Prince (Gareth) trying to climb across a wobbly sting ladder to rescue Rapunzel (Georgia) by unlocking her padlock. He flips over during it but manages to stay on and pass. When ‘Big Bad Wolf’ is played, Nicola (Wolf which she wasn’t that amused by being given by Karissa) and Red Riding Hood (Natalie) must scramble to bed put on rest of costume and Natalie to say the lines Oh My What big ‘’ you have. However the music cuts before Natalie can say her lines so they fail that one.
  • Kristina (Beauty) and the rest of the housemates must match so many of Andrews (The Beast) rankings in the diary room.of if he thinks he’s less or more attractive than pictured housemate. They fail 5 times so thats a fail. Meanwhile a continual task for the 3 pigs (Kirk, Romeo and Frankie) is when the huff puff line is played, to run outside don their googles and hold their straw house in the circle from being blown away by the wolf that comes in to turn on the giant fan in the garden.

  • Wednesday: 2nd half of Fairytale task. in the morning The 3 Pigs successfully hold the house down again, Goldilocks and the three bears (just Denise) have to come to the diary room and Goldilocks tastes each of a large medium and small bowl. Big is Spicy, Middle is fishy, and small seems ok to Karissa until BB reveals its Cow urine, to which she freaks out a bit. She opts for the large bowl of just right whilst Denise has to also finish the other two to pass the task but Karissa isn’t having it so they quit.
  • Finally Gepetto and Pinocchio (Michael and Natasha) must guess between two identical statements, who said it. Which they manage to get all 5 right. Although Nicola feels her chat with Kirk the other night about how Georgia is pretty but not much about her going on is slightly taken out of context. The housemates come off £300 up on budget. Frankie talking about how Miley Cyrus has gone ‘Naughty’ with her music. Just you wait until BANGERZ! I’m thinking lol.
  • Fairytale ball party, during which clock strikes ‘midnight’ and Andrew evicted in a pumpkin carriage pulled by a pony from the garden around to the stage. Georgia then in the diary room played to the others has to choose Fridays 2 nominees. She squirms around for a bit then gives Natasha and Nicola as names. They tell her everyone understands. Later Denise gets a bit snippy with Michael asking him what he goes to BB Diary room so long to talk about (as a joke) and tells him to piss off cause she feels he’s starting to come across aggressive about her asking him.

CBB9 Week 1 Part b
  • Thursday: Jedward Cherubs are back, they tell the Twins to take Michael hat from the Hatch and hide it in Denise’s bed (Michaels already cross with Denise after last nights tiff.) Then They tell them to throw Frankie’s clothes in the pool, he’s not very happy with them. Although the housemates are told it was for a secret task, and also Michael tells Denise he knew someone was trying to set her up, the housemates win a playboy themed party that night. Kirk and Georgia have still been chatting, he jumps into bed with her for a cuddle later on but then seems to suddenly have second thoughts and goes back to his bed.

  • Friday: Frankie and Romeo get a secret task for Romeo to coach Frankie’s dating game with both Karissa and Kristina in the small task room. He drinks from champagne bottle and burps during Karissa’s date, so gets a 0 rating from her, whilst he improves after a talk with Romeo on the 2nd date and gets a 10, earning the house drinks as announced later that evening. Michael and Denise clash again as He refuses to play into her fun hypothetical at the lunch table about last supper requests on death row and stuff, then later asks him to let her finish speaking when she’s trying to sort something out with him in the bedroom.
  • Just before Natasha is evicted (at a surprise to Nicola and some viewers as she was getting some boos and it was a close eviction apparently), Natasha and Kirk joke that they should kiss if she stays or something, Nicola is a bit put off by that and likes her but also conflicted thinking she’s a serial flirt (Kirk and Natasha were also joking around during the playboy party cuddling and she had somewhat of a wardrobe nip moment). Later on the housemates get a bit drunk in the hot tub playing truth or dare and it looks like Nicola getting dangerously close to Frankies face as if she would kiss him, Romeo comes to get her to take her off to bed as the Twins point it out she’s looking like she’s acting messy.

  • BOTS: The Sunday Quiz episode now has Jamie as a regular team captain, and a rotating guest team captain each week. This week it was Amy Childs, with Mark Little and Jodie Marsh on Jamie’s team. Mark BB12 was the scorer, nude (as usual) wearing a BBEye headdress and the scoreboard over himself. He also was the subject of this weeks Carole distraction which was a homage to the Stuck in the Middle with you Ear scene reference of Michael in Reservoir Dogs. Mark Little andJamie did an Egg eating challenge as a round with the eggs having flavours representing each housemate, and theres a new caption game where they draw what they think is missing from the screenshot. Pick the headline was also different it was guess which housemate these online comments are about.
  • Saturday’s episode is hosted by Alice, but its got a theme now too - a chat show with a couch full of the guests instead of a panel desk, Theres a food van outside fora segment (had Nancy Lamb on , and Rustie Lee). The Musical Outros this week included guest Cheryl Baker and the others in Bucks Fizz doing their 1981 Eurovision song, Andrew Stone doing Moves Like Jagger, and Ben Ofeudo covering Phats & Small ‘Turn around’. There was also a Frankie impersonator as an intro doing ‘I Gotta Feeling’.
  • Jamie has a recurring segment playing six degrees of separation between a housemate and another celebrity, also a Phone room segment where he takes viewers calling in about some various top discussion topics of the night. The digital segment guys Henry and Ian also have a bit of a segment and Victor has a VT skit about viewing the house from inside a suitcase. Emma also had a chat to Hugh Hefner on video link.
  • Some of the other guests Included Aaron BB12, Aisleyne BB7 (She knows Georgia apparently), Pete Burns, 2 Shoes and Craig Colton from X Factor, Ulrika, Dom Jolly (playing a did they say they’d ... match up game segment), etc.

    Onto the next few episodes!

Are you finding these series noticeably poorer? I just can't get past the change of style from Marcus, something which was thankfully dropped by ITV.

Haha it’s been alright so far, I do notice he gets a bit animated calling the challenge task segments sometimes.

There’s a little bit of use of flashbacks he narrates as well but usually at the start of the ep. Sometimes they will be stuff they couldn’t/didn’t fit into the end of the daily show before for context here and there.

Thinking back Marcus also had a few moments kinda borderline like that during 11 as well (remember the come dine with me task, and his appearance during ignore the obvious lol) 😂

I took a look at a couple of TOWIE clips and the onscreen name tag fade ins are also there as an edit aesthetic.

I'm pretty much finished CBB9 now, wrapping up my notes for week 2, just have to do a bit more clean up loop of a few things through the final week and wrap up notes, but I'm about to get BB13 started as well in the meantime. ;)

CBBUK9 Week 2:
  • Saturday: Nicola is aghast at the gossip about her messy drunken behaviour in the hot tub last night and is thinking of walking, although Denise, Frankie and Gareth reassured her she didn’t actually do anything and didn’t kiss Frankie it was close to his face in a jokey way and urge her not to quit.
  • There’s a nominations immunity task played in pairs (Georgia and the twins are counted as a pair) in jumpsuits they have to crawl under a table through a sticky treacle type mush, and rip open feather pillows to search for 4 of their coloured bears.
  • Denise has a hard time with it, Kirk and Michael almost win, but it’s Frankie coming up behind last minute to take it out for Himself and Nicola. Michael is still annoyed by Denise, and later, Denise and Romeo’s punishment task for coming last is to sleep on a single bed in small task room whilst BB plays some clips of Michael’s snoring to annoy them.
  • Sunday: Denise and Romeo come out of the diary room talking about Michael’s snoring being played and Michael is getting irritated with Denise again to the point of not being able to stand being in the same room. It’s noticed and the others try and tell Denise to just leave him be with some space for a while and not badger him about whatever it is he’s having an issue with her about. Although after nominations (Pretty focused again this week with Georgia on 8, Michael on 6 being up, and only a handful of others on very low points) he goes to put on Denise’s dressing gown and comes to seemingly build a bridge again with her.

  • Monday: This week’s Shopping task is based around ‘Minute to get in it’ with a big minute timer in the lounge and housemates have 60 seconds to act on BB commands. Today’s tasks included Kirk and Frankie having to go and stand inside the wheelie bin outside, Romeo in the chest in the lounge, Denise gets in the big high heeled shoe, and Gareth dons a sumo suit then has to go to the portaloo.
  • Michael’s first impression of seeing all the random items set up for the task wasn’t great however, and Natalie is particularly taken aback when he remarks that no one choose him on their team cause he doesn’t care about what happens with any of them or something like that, but they chat about it later and Natalie wonders if its just Michael sounding off about being nominated, She asks him not to get too focused on wanting to go though because he could stay. Michael gets into the task though later on by standing in the bin.
  • Kirk and Georgia have a bizarre moment in their task, handcuffed either side to a mannequin, Kirk tells Georgia he left his Gf on the outside before coming in to save her having to watch him be all like ‘oh that bird’s fit’, but… he actually kinda regrets it and potentially would want to get back with her or maybe marry her or something. What now? Georgia cant half tell if he’s joking/messing with her, but on top of that he keeps trying to peck a kiss on her and asking her if she wants to give him a snog. Like thats not awkward…
  • Natalie gets a task to get in a swimming costume, then go in the small task room, submerge herself fully in some blue dye water and have her head under at least 30 seconds. She comes out looking like a Smurf, or maybe the blueberry girl from Willy Wonka.
  • The Twins minute task is a secret one - to get in tomorrows headlines. They burst out of the diary room in an argument with each other, and start throwing an egg carton and potato peeler at each other (apparently over one or the other saying something about each others boyfriends or something). They’re pretty convincing with it, even bringing out the waterworks.
  • Frankie later gets a minute to open a guitar case with a tape recording to play, which tells him to get to the podium to ‘get into it’ as Justin Bieber’s ‘Baby’ is played.
  • BOTS also showed one where two housemates were tasked to ‘get in Big Brother’s (large stretchy) pants’ and then again some more housemates had to try and squeeze in.

  • Tuesday: The minute to get in it task continues: It’s Frankie’s 19th BDay, and BB wakes him up to get to the diary room, put on a candle outfit, and make a dash to get to the big cake outside and get on top. Denise has a minute to get into a Dog costume, then act like a dog.
  • Things get a little tense when Kirk is asked to get the two housemates he nominated (Georgia and The Twins) to sit with him in the rowboat in the bathroom. He thought it would be a good opportunity, in a light hearted way, to get out in the open what they nominated each other for.
  • But it descends a bit into The Twins and Georgia calling Kirk out for something he said in front of Georgia the other night where he was talking about fancying/dating someone but then you realise theres nothing there or they’re giving you nothing back kinda thing or something to which Georgia thought He was indirectly addressing her. Frankie chimes in that he nominated the Twins for not talking to them and Nicola calls Natalie in to try and calm them down a bit.
  • The number of fails they were allowed is read out from inside a nested box task as the final minute to get in it, and theyve passed. Later Frankie gets a rock n roll themed party with costumes for his BDay while Kings Of Leon’s ‘Sex On Fire’ is played. Denise starts getting on Michaels bad side again after badgering him to get up and come have some JD & Coke they just got. He was getting up, but she just kept at him thinking now he’s off with her for some reason again and doesn’t seem to get its because He’s still at him when he’s already getting up iykwim.
  • Denise gets a bit tipsy and a bit later the housemates are shocked as she proceeds to get in the hot tub and starts getting her baps out.

  • Wednesday: Michael and Denise are still a bit snippy at each other. Michael also aborts being part of the ‘actors’ side of todays mini task, which required Denise Natalie and the Twins to put on white spandex suits and ‘act out’ with props some charades for phrases, instead being one of the players on the red team with the remaining housemates. The Blue team won this round.
  • Eviction is Georgia, after which BB holds live nominations with writing on blackboards. It wasn’t just that everybody who got a point got nominated, but it turned out Michael and The Twins both tied for most points on 6, followed by every other housemate bar Gareth getting 1 pt each. So everyone was up except Gareth. Natalie has gone off Michael again after how he framed his nominations of Denise as her being ‘mentally disturbed’ and an emotional wreck. He does realise how it came out though and feels a bit bad, as he explained to Romeo and Natalie the following day. The Twins think they have a gameplan and the next evictions figured out.
  • Thursday: It’s letters from home time - with a twist. Split into two teams, one in. the lounge area and the other in the large task room, they have 15 minutes to decide whether to push the button first to get their sides letters and shred the other teams. Nicola really wants the letters and reasons that most of the other side might be ok with it. The others agree so asap Nicola pushes the button after 1 second.
  • Friday: Gareth gets a secret task to win back his letter from home. as the only one not nominated for tonight’s eviction, he must give each of the nominees an encouragement talk peppered with some phrases then round off with leading the group in a rugby style scrum with a song. The others watch him emotionally read his letter out in the diary room.
  • The house is a little bit shocked at the Double eviction of Kirk and Natalie (as was I, I was expecting Romeo to be at least one of them). Later Denise tells the twins to use their inside voices in the bedroom to which Michael overhears and puts his 2c in, causing a bit of a bitchfest between The Americans and Denise to each other/the other housemates, although it also looks like the Twins are making amends somewhat with Nicola.

  • BOTS: Quiz had Tina Malone as guest captain with Harry Derbridge from TOWIE as teammate, Jamie had Andrew Stone. Mark BB12 was again the scorer, this time with a smaller chalkboard covering him, and again was in Carole’s distraction, on the couch with her while I think she was playing a trumpet and recreating Natalie’s giving birth scene from Eastenders. Harry and Jamie did an eating weird things that were fairytale themed during the break challenge, and More or Less game was back.
  • Christian the stats guy appears in VT this season, in different themed green screen style with some themes to the stats as well, last week it was Sauna related, this week he’s in a wetsuit and its beach themed. Jame also visited Kirk’s house in VT and ‘Museum of Celebrity Leftovers’.
  • BB12’s Aaron and Mark also had a VT to record a rap track with help from So Solid Crew, and Alice went out to market Gravy which makes sense with context that one of Romeo’s hit songs was ‘It’s All Gravy’ with Christina Milian.
  • Some of the other guests included Dr Pam Spurr with a balancing scales segment on the psych aspect of Denise and Michael’s relationship, Lisa Maffia, Helen Lederer, Alex BB12, Rodrigo BB10, Terry Christian, Dane Bowers, Pete Burns etc.

The forgotten very first programme about Big Brother on C4, airing a few months before the series as the casting opened. Interestingly it is narrated by Davina - I always thought she came on board with the show quite late.

CBBUK9 Week 3 + Finale:
  • Saturday: The mood in the house is vastly improved today as Denise is called to the diary room for a secret task. She must pick 3 ‘most gullible’ housemates to participate in a fake Japanese chat show ’Superchat’ and have them believe they are huge in Japan. It’s basically similar to what they had Ivanka do in CBB7, but this time all of the housemates are attending the interview in the large task room.
  • Denise picks Gareth, Romeo and The Twins to join her as the ones selected to be interviewed. While they are in the Diary room after being shown some clips of Japanese people adoring their portraits, Nicola, Michael an Frankie are let in on the secret by BB on the plasma.
  • The live ’Superchat’ show takes place with a zany host, some assistants and even a random ninja with a balloon. They have Gareth dancing in a big sushi costume. Afterwards they are let in on the task and passed. Even Michael and Denise seem to be on good terms again. Afterwards theres a Japanese themed karaoke party.

  • Sunday: BB asks for the most something housemate to come to the diary room. There he becomes ‘Queen Bee’ with a costume whilst the others are set up in Bee outfits with shock pads and sit on flowers watching the plasma in the gadren, and Frankie attempts a spelling Bee. to win drinks for the house he must get 5 right, to win a party its 10. He just manages to scrape 5 right (some he almost had but added an unnecessary letter). Afterward Denise gets annoyed with Nicola insinuating she was lying about getting stung because she didn’t have much reaction to it ‘having done ultratone before’.
  • It all kicks off later though in what has been called ‘Pantsgate’, as The girls are all dancing to Cyndi Lauper ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’, Denise, a bit tipsy again, pranks Karissa by pulling her pants down so her ass is a bit exposed for a second. Karissa takes a moment to say she wasn’t ok with that and Denise apologises, but then goes as if to do it again but fakes out.
  • Nicola tries to separate Denise and Karissa having an argument about it, (agreeing with the Twins that If Denise was of the thinking that just because their Playboy models doesn’t mean they’d be ok with their ass being out at any time kinda thing), but Denise also starts having a go at Nicola about pressing the button for the letters from home, which apparently she’s been holding her tongue about despite saying it didn’t affect her. Frankie also tries cutting in to defend Denise, who has gone off to the bedroom in tears. Karissa comes to the diary room in a huff wanting her ass not to be shown, also wanting to walk.
  • A little while later Nicola is in the bedroom, while Kristina is asking Romeo and Gareth who was in the right, and Denise has another try at explaining her POV to Kristina, after which Nicola comes out thinking Denise is talking shit about her and proceeds to have a bit of a meltdown, climbing the stairs and wanting to leave, while Kristina has headed into the diary room to talk to Karissa, who decides to stay. They come out wanting to know who upset Nicola, and follow her back into the diary room until they calm down, but they think they wont be talking to the others for a good while. Everyone calms enough to go to bed.

  • Monday: Everyones still walking on eggshells a little, but eventually Denise and Nicola sort out their arguments and apologise to each other. They do agree the Twins are sometimes intense.
  • Later Michael is on a bit of a rant about the point of the tasks, after which to help improve the mood of the house sets Michael a task to lead the rest in writing/performing some spoken word poetry.
  • Tuesday: mini task in diary room ‘Flour Mountain’ to face first find a hidden ticket in a mound of flour the quickest. Romeo comes out on top in only a few seconds, and wins a movie night in the small task room of The Hangover with Frankie, who wins a rock paper scissors with one of the twins to join him.
  • Wednesday: Frankie doesn’t wanna get out of bed or after come to diary room when called so BB Makes him write lines in the diary room which he drags his feet about in a huff but eventually completes.
  • There’s a ‘Say It Or Spray It’ mini task, in which the housemates chose Nicola and Gareth to describe 5 food items up for grabs that are on a conveyor belt. They can’t use any of the banned description words though for each, so if it’s not guessed it gets sprayed out to the rest of them outside in front of a spray machine.
  • There’s Cappuccino, Chocolate, Bananas, Peas and Trout. Later in another double eviction it’s Nicola out first (to a lot of boos and chants from the crowd in her interview) then Romeo.
  • Thursday: another round of dinner plus some BB Awards.
  • Finale: placings order is Karissa & Kristina, Michael, Gareth, Frankie, and Denise the winner.

  • BOTS: Kate Walsh was guest Captain with Neil Ruddock on her side, Team Jamie had Kirk. Mark was back again as the scorer with the smallest/thinnest blackboard covering him yet.
  • Mark was also in Carole’s distraction which this week was playing ‘Frankie’ in the hot tub whilst ‘Denise’ (Carole) takes off her top and gives him a lap dance. Wild scenes lol how much are they both getting paid for these return appearances haha.
  • Mondays ep was pretty funny, with Pete Burns carried in by some guys, Andrew Stone, Harvey from so solid, and Iain Lee we haven’t seen on in a while.
  • Some more guests included Jay and Louise from BB12, Tashie on about her sex tape leaking, Rodrigo BB10 (also in a VT where Jamie does SuperChat with Andrew Stone and BB8’s Jonty on as guests), Brian Belo, Kim Woodburn, Rich Fulcher and more. So Solid crew did ṯhe finale outro of 21 seconds out in front of the studio to cap off the season.

CBB9 Overall + Housemates thoughts:

I thought this season flowed a bit better eviction schedule wise compared to CBB8 with the twice weekly eviction cycle, also making use of some Doubles. ‘Pantsgate’ was one of the defining episodes this season I think, it was a pretty dramatic. I thought the tasks were pretty fun too, The minute to get in it one was fairly simple but also into some ongoing storyline kinda things as well.

Over on BOTS, they did something a little different with the Saturday show which took on a bit of a variety show format, and also the return of a callers call in segment with Jamie and the phone room. The Quiz episode was also tweaked a little and Emma had one of the guests with her for some BBNews segments.

Andrew Stone: he was kinda all over the shop the first couple days, might have been interesting to see go further staying over Georgia, but then again Georgia started also becoming a bit interesting with her association with the twins and stuff as well. Came across at times like he was a bit over-inflated sense of self about his actual level of fame, as he said Natalie tried to make out like he was on the slightly delulu about wanting yo be a judge on XFactor when he said he meant that if he did well with his music with Starman perhaps he could be in a position like that down the line.

Although he hasn’t really been much in the spotlight since it seems, he has still danced and worked with some big names so that’s something I suppose. He was also a bit ott on the side shows but as well he had a somewhat novelty eviction method with the pony and carriage!

Natasha Giggs: got the Faria Alam kinda cast with an affair backstory, something that also came to light not too long before the show regarding her eight year long affair with Ryan Giggs, which also gives context now to it popping up in Imogen from BB7’s afterstory I recall reading about, somewhere about a similar time.

She and Kirk seemed to be mucking about a bit and it might’ve been interesting if Nicola went instead of her and if that ended up becoming potential scandal on the fire as Nicola thought, at the time Natasha was apparently still wanting to make a go of getting back with her husband. It looks like she remarried another guy last year.

Georgia Salpa: was pretty quiet the first couple of days and could’ve been an expected boot over Andrew in that first eviction, but she went on to kinda have a bit of a storyline with buddying up with the twins and also the weird brief flirtation with Kirk that fizzled out went they went off each other fairly quickly.

She had the lookalike thing happening with Kim Kardashian, a little like Rachael with Beyoncé in BB11, also Greek-Irish, with her accent also had moments where she reminded me a little of Noirin in BB10. She later married a hedge fund manager in 2015.

Kirk Norcross: I wonder if there’ll be a few more TOWIE casts down the track we’ve had two in a row now. He had a bit of a bromance happening with Frankie as offsider, and also the brief thing with Georgia (who was pretty much his type based on the Kim K comparison alone). His eviction was a bit of a surprise as I mentioned, although it also allowed a bit of a shake up in Frankie now hanging out with others in the final week. After CBB he left TOWIE and appeared in Ex On The Beach in 2015.

Natalie Cassidy: I found her fun and she was also a bit of a peacemaker/voice of reason at times in the house. She has returned to her Eastenders role over the years.

Nicola McLean: we’d seen her pop up a couple times in BOTS before. She struggled a bit throughout the season and had that meltdown during pantsgate missing her kids and said she wouldn’t be quick to do it again, but I know she returns for All Stars CBB so that will be interesting.

Romeo: His major moment I’d guess was winning the Jodie Marsh task right at the beginning, otherwise he was pretty background for a lot of the season and I was surprised wasn’t at the bottom of the list to go in both double evictions. Maybe it was a combination of So Solid fans, or voting complacency with Kirk and Natalie in particular and that but yeah. He was alright and also a bit of a peacemaker at times.

Karissa & Kristina Shannon: They were interesting as they came across calculated and like they had a bit of game plan going knowing how reality tv goes with prior experience. It looks like after the show they took some time away from the spotlight and left the Playboy mansion and moved back to Michigan and did bits and pieces of modelling. Theres a recent interview with them where they’ve done a casual clothes kinda style photoshoot.

Michael Madsen: Most of his storyline came from his annoyance with Denise, although he also got close with Frankie as kind of a fatherly role and the twins being the only other American housemates. Sadly also one that has recently passed this year. After CBB, He appeared in a couple other Quentin Tarantino films as well as popped up in music videos such as As long As You Love Me by Justin Bieber (2012) and Black Widow by Iggy Azalea/Rita Ora (2014), which was Kill Bill inspired.

Gareth Thomas: He was a bit of a favourite to win right through as the only one to not face the public vote until the last week. He had some humorous moments such as the dressing up and dancing in the superchat task, after CBB he continued being a spokesperson for LGBTQ+ and HIV issues, and appeared on a few other Celeb Reality shows.

Frankie Cocozza: He got a little bit of a redemption arc from his stint on XFactor which was only a few months before this. He went on to release some music and also came and lived in Australia.

Denise Welch: She was entertaining as well, although at times like when she got on the alcohol a bit, she came across a bit overbearing (as Michael would attest to) and perhaps a bit much in trying to justify her POV when she might be better to know when to stop and give it some space iykwim. Anyways, She continued acting and return appearances on Loose Women, and also is the mother of Matty Healy of The 1975, who started becoming more known shortly after this.

That'll do for CBB9! up next some opening posts for BB13 Week 1, Have finished the First Eviction. ;)

BBUK13 (2012) Started

BBUK13 Launch
  • Launch Night: Musical opening with Showgirls lol. The Eye logo is lots of coloured blocks that have a bit of a spin around animation in the titles etc. The House has been given a bit of a shuffle around redesign, The Stairs from the entrance are are now across then straight down, theres a bit of a glittery/silver backdrop to the front door as well as the backdrop of the diary room, which has a big blue cushioned seat.
  • The lounge area is just to the left of the stairs, and the housemates profile pics are no longer in a grid but scattered along the shelving there which looks kinda cool. The Kitchen is also on that side extending out in the middle there with a deep green kinda colour scheme, and centre back of room is a long dining table with long dining booth kinda seats on either side. The Bedroom is on the opposite side to the Kitchen, and has like a Vegas show lights kinda theme with a makeup/drawers area behind some of the beds on the back side wall. It also has a garden facing window kinda similar to reminds me a little of where the Luxury bedroom in BB9 was situated.
  • Outside theres a undercover kind-of seating areas at the end of the pool next to a hottub, and some desert rock kinda backdrop on the far garden wall and in the bathroom, which is now on the far garden side wall next to a outdoor dining table and under a kinda perimeter undercover walkway past a water feature, BOTS new look studio also has a kinda orangey hue in parts and Vegas skyline sortof backdrop. The phone room also has a bit of a similar green decor that the kitchen has I thought.
  • Opening night twist is the first housemate, Deana, has been randomly selected to enter first, and before she went in was given onstage with Brian the secret mission to observe the rest of the housemates to then decide on 3 to nominate for the first eviction on Friday. (This season started on a Tuesday 5th June, the day after the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Day, so It was only 3 days after I’ll group as Week 1, since the Week 10 Finale is on a Friday).

  • 16 Housemates going in, A few characters, Caroline with some messy hair, Essex girl Ashleigh who kept dropping F-Bombs so Brian hurried her along, Irish hm Conor who apparently had a party trick with his member as a watch, Chris with a bit of a squeaky voice, Another one with an American accent in Adam, and It looks like were Spice Girling with the names of the two Lukes this time, with Luke A (who is a trans man) and Luke S. I also thought Shievonne seemed funny in her intro package.
  • Slight shift up in average age there as well on entry compared to BB12 with Luke A & Benedict at 31 and 32, then a gap to Victoria at 41. But it seems she’s already up for eviction as Deana nominates Conor, Victoria (having to bullshit a reason of ‘evil eyes’) and Lydia, who is a dancer that is keeping the name of her famous fiancé to herself for now (It’s Andy Scott Lee brother of Lisa from Steps). Lydia isn’t impressed at Deana’s nomination, but Deana later feels bad making a snap judgement because she thinks she’ll get on with Lydia and they kindof make up. I perhaps might’ve nominated Lauren as one, I think she was one of the ones kinda blending in on instant impression, but then again could come out more later and/or been good to keep around if they stayed under the radar in terms of being up against and not getting a lot of save votes kinda thing maybe so it all could go any whichway anyway iykwim.
  • Theres a few models in the house, including another Aaron but spelled Arron. A few getting to know each other scenes, Benedict telling the others about his career move from a teacher to adult films and stripping, also Ashleigh brings up golden showers (similar to Rebeckah last season? lol), and Chris reckons Luke S seems like hes trying to be an Alpha male type. Elsewhere Scottish hm Sara and Luke A were in the same audition group or something so she already knows his secret, but they discuss Luke A waiting a bit to tell them so the others get to know him first.

BBUK13 Week 1 (up to first eviction)
  • Wednesday: Luke A decides to just start telling the others about his born as a female secret casually in small groups/one on one during the day after telling BB in the diary room he wanted to go for a swim and not feel like he has to hide his top surgery scars (hasn’t had the below done yet) and it might be better to just get it out of the way. By the end of the day he’s told everyone except Luke S, Conor and Arron, not certain how well they will take it, but by the following day he’s told them all without any fuss.
  • Theres a slight bit of drama when Shievonne gets a mini task to do impressions in the diary room of the others for BB to guess, whilst the others watch and stand up if she thinks she is doing them. Lydia gets slightly put off by Shievonne’s impression of her ‘not being here for the fame, but i’m not gonna name drop who Ive danced with’ and confides in Deana that maybe she should just drop the pretence and just be outlandish if her original approach to having people get to know her isn’t working kinda thing but later Shievonne and Lydia talk it out and settle it.
  • Conor Caroline and Ashleigh are discussing who might get together in the house. Caroline and Scott have also become a bit of a friendly tag team and Emma likened it on. BOTS to Tom BB12 who was a guest that they could be a bit like him and Alex.

  • Thursday: Victoria has been having a bit of a moody day about finding it hard to gel with some of the others and she gets a bit shitty with Lydia giving her yesterday’s salad from the fridge whilst everyone else got fresh bowls. Later the housemates are playing a spin the bottle game provided by BB, with some snog dares for Victoria and Benedict, Victoria later has an argument with Arron in the bedroom, (after going topless in the dark and commented on by the others as a cheap attempt to win save votes) about him saying to her face he’d evict her, in a Snog Marry Evict part of the game.

  • Friday: Victoria and Arron talk about the argument last night in front of Lydia, whom after yesterdays tiff Victoria is still otherwise close to, and Victoria remarks how it seems a bit naive or something for Arron to expect to try and avoid conflict/argument conversations all of the time kindof thing (as she says to Lydia is could be like he’s trying to get as much airtime around the positive and fun banter or something like that) and Lydia discusses how if Victoria stays she can play the game whilst not being fake.
  • Luke S and Ashleigh appear to be getting closer, possible showmance. The day before he was using Lauren as a weight in workouts with her and her also sitting on his lap, but I think they could perhaps get on more as just mates also as she was telling Luke S and Arron that she gets on well with guys vs some girl convos eventually devolving to makeup or boys and stuff.
  • Scott also talks to Caroline and BB about fancying the guys (I mean the other episode there was a workout montage with some eye candy alert between Luke S, Arron and Benedict in particular) and just being in his fantasy land for a moment, and later theres a bit of awkwardness after He joins Benedict and Arron in a pol exercise sesh and Aaron is discussing how see through the frosted glass in the shower is afterward and Scott’s over in the corner like, hmm do I look or do I look at the ceiling? lol the conundrum.

  • Eviction time: Conor is announced as most saved, bowling over the back of the couch in celebration, and Victoria is evicted (It was close like a 1% difference with her and Lydia they said on BOTS). and has to leave through the diary room and be driven to the BOTS studio via buggy, as the Eviction show is moved indoors due to high 50 m/ph winds (apparently June 2012 was a bit of a wacky summer month for the UK, as I found a 'netweather' forum thread discussing it from a 2018 retrospective POV (plus another recent thread), how apparently the last week of May was pretty warm, then there was a burst of great weather also in Late July during the Olympics. It also got a little rain during launch show and by the time of BOTS the Friday night the winds had settled.
  • The viewers had also been voting the previous few days on a wildcard housemate from a choice of 3 Jamie East had handpicked (there was an Auditions episode before the launch as well), Rebecca, Bhavesh, and Anthony. ‘Becky’ won that and had quite the entrance to the house, bursting in, running around then jumping in the pool. LOL. She’ll be fun. She also got a secret mission from BB for immunity in the first round of Noms. In 2 days the housemates will be asked who their favourite housemate is, If Becky gets at least one vote, she’ll get immunity, otherwise if no one picks her, she’ll automatically be up.

  • Chris is getting hangry, and later in the group in the lounge starts discussing and debating with Luke S how it might kick off in the shopping list if they don’t work together and not spend all the money on alcohol or whatever. Luke S is trying to have a calm and reasoned debate with Chris about how its likely not going to go down that way and everyone has a different opinion about the shopping, but Chris seems to be getting agitated with him saying they’re are going to clash because he has a strong opinion on things.
  • It gets to the point where Chris is sitting opposite the Diary room door watching Luke S waiting for the Diary room door to open and asking him if he’s getting flustered and needs to go calm down. He then snaps back a little at Becky saying he looked like he was the one getting angry before , but he says well you don’t know me well enough after what an hour (referring to earlier looking like Becky hit a sore point by pressuring Becky to guess what he did for a living and she said Metal worker or something instead of Doorman/Baliff).
  • Yet thats a bit funny since it seems to me also like perhaps Chris is the the one projecting his own insecurities a little onto Luke S iykwim, (Earlier he was discussing body types with Sara, and he says he works out but he’s also one of the more chunkier side guys in the house) and perhaps coming across like he’s trying to goad Luke S into a reaction to prove he was right when he told some of the other guys he felt Luke S was trying to be an Alpha male who thinks he’s king shit with body and the confidence and all that, when he’s only known him a couple days, and Luke S isn’t taking the bait.
  • He even reiterates it to Arron later in the bathroom and also to Luke S when they talk and clear it up afterwards and Chris has calmed his farm a bit more that they’ve both got strong characters like alpha males of the group, also chatting with Shievonne about it that he feels he’s made a bit of an ass of himself and he should also apologise to Becky and start fresh in the morning. I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t still cop a heap of noms about it, but we’ll see.

  • BOTS: They had a spoof of The Voice UK as the intro one episode, Natalie Cassidy had a opening skit ‘Doing Stuff’ on her appearance, and the musical lip sync/karaoke outros seem to be continuing, They had the band ’Shelter’ with their song Stardust that features Alex Reid, and also Victoria singing that ‘Clothes Off’ song by Jermaine Stewart on the Saturday show. The guy ‘Jeff’ in drag also sings some of the guest intros. Some other Guests Included, Frankie Cocozza, Ben BB11, Amy Childs etc.

    Onto the next few episodes!

(This season started on a Tuesday 5th June, the day after the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Day, so It was only 3 days after I’ll group as Week 1, since the Week 10 Finale is on a Friday).
Actually I think the Finale is Day 70 so its on a Monday, which would still be not long after Friday for Week 10 (little bit like BB11 that finished on the Tuesday) plus this opening first couple days has an eviction so thematically it fits well I think to group as first week.

It was nice to have Big Brother return to it's traditional June slot after the winter BB12 (which I think I managed about 2 weeks of), but it was a shame that it clashed with the Olympics. That said, the ratings for the series as a whole were stable and slightly up on BB12.

I’m up to the shopping task in Week 4 now, just finishing the round up of my notes for week 2 and 3, should have a double update soon. ;)

BBUK13 Week 2
  • Saturday: Chris does a quick round of apologies for his outburst the previous night. BB asks Becky in the diary room which housemate she is going to focus on getting to know and she thinks she gets on with Deana.
  • Later on the housemates have a bit of fun painting each other with makeup after dinner, which turns out to cause some drama. Lydia notices Arron taking more than one sausage (which he goes and gives to Chris in the bathroom), and bitches about it to Adam in the bedroom.
  • Later the boys are pulled up by Lauren going through the leftovers or something, when Adam asks her outside what’s bothering her, she replies that ‘people are inconsiderate’.
  • Following that, Sara is talking about it in the bedroom toilet with Ashleigh and Shievonne, thinking Lauren was implicating Deana, who also had more than one sausage thinking it was spare. They are overheard by Lydia and then Lauren and Conor outside the door, and Lauren confronts them, getting upset that now she thinks the girls she’s just made friends with (Sara in particular) are bitching about her. She tries to get Adam to talk to Sara and Ashleigh to back her up she wasn’t talking about Deana, and later Lauren and Sara seem to sort it out.
  • Meanwhile LukeS, Conor and Lydia have worked out following on half of BB12 and CBB9 that nomination talk is again not against the rules this season (Lydia said that they saw it wasn’t mentioned in the handbook and asked about it). Lydia tells them she is the only girl that knows that she thinks and LukeS & Conor ask her if she maybe can keep it to herself. However later on she’s telling Adam and some of the others that those two boys (along with Arron?) think they have it figured out and the run of the house so if they can get Chris , LukeA etc inside them they have enough to put Arron up and watch their faces as their game plan comes apart kinda thing.
  • Sunday: Becky’s task is revealed after the housemates are asked to write their favorite housemates name on a board then they all read them out. Becky passes only just, she picks Deana and Deana picks her but feels a bit used by Becky, Becky assures her she was being genuine.
  • Adam tells BB in the diary room he will making his own decisions regarding nominations but takes it upon himself to openly announce and confirm it to the others whilst everyones at the table having lunch so everyones got the chance to have an open playing field is what I think was happening.
  • Sara has an emotional moment talking about how much she loves the Queens work ethic and annoyed when people say otherwise, singing an impassioned rendition of the national anthem.
  • Deana and Lydia are talking in the hot tub and later Deana comes to chat to Becky (who could see them from the bedroom?) who might think that Lydia and Deana were discussing her.
  • Later on Lydia storms out of the kitchen thinking Becky and Sara are blatantly strat talking about her (it was about Lauren actually but yeah) with their heads under a rug in the middle of the kitchen feeling uncomfortable that it’s in front of everyone, whilst Becky follows her to the bedroom trying to explain herself. Lydia tells BB in the Diary room she feels like she’s getting a bit targeted like she’s been bitching about others or something for noms when she hasn’t said anything about Becky in that exchange.

  • Monday: Nominations Day. Arron starts getting bored and wants to be ‘Rebellious’ so he runs up the stairs and lays down and has to be called down by BB 3 times. Noms its Arron on 6, Chris on 5 and a whole heap on 3.
  • Later Arron wants to turn the lights off in the bedroom early but BB keeps switching them back on and so to punish him makes the bedroom off bounds for a bit which annoys Adam. Nominations are announced and at first Chris thinks he dosent stand a chance against Arron but they both agree to make the most of the week and they would rather lose to each other than be up against someone else.
  • Tuesday: No Laughing Shopping task begins, a heap of Clowns come through the house while Shievonne is in Diary room (she doesn’t deal well with clowns and was beside herself when the monster thing in a costume sauntered in to give them the task instructions. Luke S is trying to tell BB about it stone faced and not laughing, LukeS, Conor and some of the others all day resorted to making open mouthed expressions or distracting themselves going for a walk or doing push ups etc to avoid cracking up.
  • Arron gets various outfits to wear over the day including a Loo Roll, an Emu rider costume and red tights with a spike collar and hat. Scott accidentally laughs and Becky has an argument with Chris over him coming down on Scott for it.
  • BB tries to make them laugh more by making half of them play a roulette game with the shock suits and the others watching, and bringing in several stand up comedians for a show (including Keith Harris and Orville, who were also on BOTS). During which Arron offends Deana by commenting about her having a drink which they make up about later.
  • Chris gets a bit emotional about his experience getting to know all different types of people in house? LukeS and Ashleigh share a snog in the toilet and Adam Talks to Scott about if Becky is playing a game.

  • Wednesday: Housemates are woken up by two women in the bedroom doing introductions and some type of Laugh therapy speaking in gibberish. Later Scott leaves the house temporarily due to family bereavement it sounds like. Caroline has Ashleigh dye the tips of hair pink and also I Ashleigh did her own plus Conor’s with a slight pink tinge to it.
  • Later the housemates play a bit of a double prank between Chris and Caroline to have a short date with each other in the corner. Caroline isn’t thrilled about it lol.
  • The task result is read out by Chris opening the envelope of how many laughs they were allowed (25) while BB announced they only failed 19 times so they passed, plus won a pizza party on top of that.
  • Later Chris is bitching about Becky’s overeating, whilst Ashleigh gets into an upset over her and LukeS becoming a thing and feeling like the others are judging them based on a joke Adam made earlier along the lines of having a front row seat watching them get it on or something. LukeS and Conor assure her it’s only cuddles and stuff and not like they’re going to get it on full on in the house.

  • Thursday: first shopping list is completed, they overspent by about £100 so the bottom list items weren’t delivered, and now they have a bit of an oversupply of bread and stuff like that. Which annoys Chris, but he also understands.
  • Ashleigh still seems to have some cold feet about continuing further with LukeS saying she doesn’t feel there’s Chemistry. (Meanwhile there’s a humorous moment with LukeS shaving his pubes with a bit of an audience outside the bedroom door. Alright then lol).
  • This leads to Lauren again getting teary and a bit paranoid the girls are bitching about her again and telling Caroline she’s over dealing with it anymore and thinking of walking. Caroline goes and gets Ashleigh sort it out with her by setting it straight that Lauren doesn’t fancy LukeS and isn’t trying to take him away from Ashleigh (given Ashleigh’s current outlook about the showmance not going anywhere it might not be an issue anyway much longer) and says that she even nominated him so why would she do that if she wanted him to stick around.
  • Friday: Caroline gets a secret task for a tea party in the task room to convince two housemates that she is related to the Royal family and is actually the daughter of the ‘Duke of Carnarvon’. She picks Sara and Lauren, making herself cry as she tells them about having to miss some special annual garden party or something that was that day.
  • The Eviction is Chris I was kinda surprised by but then thinking about it more each way he and Arron were both big characters but I thought public might’ve been slightly more annoyed by Arron but it went the other way around (was stated on BOTS Chris got 38% save vote).

  • BOTS: the Sunday episode isn’t a quiz anymore they’ve shifted to a on the couch style panel hosted by Alice with a new regular Psychologist Mark Rackley, the latest evictee, and a guest (this week was Iain Lee).
  • Both Jamie and Alice have a few Vats visiting various housemates home towns/f&f. There’s also a regular pub quiz segment between the boys and girls has them answering the questions together in the diary room. Emma also has a game playing segment with a floor plan diagram, this week was with Anton BB12.
  • Some other guests this week included Andrew Stone, Tashie BB12, Pete Burns, Keith Harris with Orville and Cuddles, Alison Hammond, Justin Lee Collins (Whose appearance was set up like it was gonna be Jamie Lee Curtis), etc.
  • Brian Dowling and Narinder had a chaotic episode where they got spotted in the camera run and had a bit of a play cake fight at the end with his birthday cake.
  • Rodrigo from BB10 also literally overnight made the debut of ‘Rebekah Shelton’ this week, appearing as Rodrigo one night, then as Rebekah the next.
  • The Saturday episode Karaoke outro with the evictee continues, this week Chris sang 7 Days by Craig David.
