BB/CBB UK - Rewatch discussions

Ah, that "pool orgy" was pivotal to the series as it really was a turning point for Makosi - viewers loved her playing the housemates, but after that she tried to play the viewers too and that was her big mistake.

BBUK6 Week 7 Done:
  • BBLB The Keyring segment took a while this week. Anthon-A got chosen as the lookalike (I thought C was a good runner up), and this weeks BBLB singalong was fun. (the one a few weeks back was catchy ‘B-I-G B-RO_THER is on T-V and D-E_R_M-O-T is on B-B-L Beeeee’)
  • Kemal got 9/10 questions right in this weird quiz where you answer the question with the answer to the previous question. Maxwell had a go of it on BBLB. That won everyone a video message from home. It’s stirred up some discussion though about who Derek’s people were, and also seemingly throwing out the sympathy crutch for Kemal by his family appearing to be fully supportive of how he’s conducted himself. This especially within Makosi’s core group, which is starting to show strains (touch on this later).
  • Big Brother slips a note under the front door that BB will lie to them twice this week, so the housemates are on the lookout.
  • Kemal spends most of the beginning of the week in bed with a stomach thing. Later he does the commentating for the BB Olympic games task, which they failed not getting enough points in the different events (Science and Orlaith did synchronised swimming to James Blunt’s ‘Youre Beautiful’ very 2005 number).
  • Anthony and Craig continue to be a dynamic duo ‘I’ll bitchslap you in a minute if you dont stop acting like one’. They also had a bit of a bicker over Craig spitting the dummy if he made a false start in the cycling. It was again discussed on Big Mouth whether Anthony might be genuinely oblivious to how this friendship ‘looks’ until he’s out.
  • Dermot was on Big Mouth this week. Bit of Discussion around Science: is he trying to get in with Ant and Craig to be the new Maxwell? Makosi is starting to get a bit of an arc like playing the game is getting a bit much for her, Derek’s starting to drop little bombs of doubt, Kemal has gone weird about her again (even more so when BB wrote ‘There is a Mole in the house’ on the mirror) and She’s started to turn against Orlaith a bit too as part of that little side of things. There was a scene where Orlaith tried to pipe up in the loft that everyone has their own little gameplay style and Makosi kinda shut her down.
  • The Lies this week were a doozy, around Nominations being ‘optional’ within a 3 hour window. Only Craig, Anthony and Kemal nominated, meaning the other six were up for eviction.
  • BUT, in a twist the 3 who nominated were told they were the ones up. It was only revealed on Eviction night to the housemates, then they had some time to scramble before the bottom 2 were read out at the dining table and Housemates voted face to face for the evictee! A few things fell into place in a way that they were able to string out that twist to a fuller extent though I think as well, like would they just have told the ones that didnt nominate that they were up if only Craig nominated? hmm.
  • It was really interesting that neither Eugene or Orlaith fell in the bottom, and it might be kinda a wake up call for Makosi, If the public just wanted to set up a ‘harder’ choice for the housemates by just voting hard to put her at risk of going, or She’s genuinely starting to get on the GP’s nerves now. Either way it was definitely a tense process being up against Vanessa and Vanessa going rather than someone like the newbies.
onto Week 8!

BBUK6 Week 8:
  • BBLB this weeks Sunday singalong song about the week again was catchy. There was another whole segment for this season about the BITCHING! from psychologist Geoffrey Beattie.
  • The Mole toy is found! by Eugene in the garden. However Kemal and Derek still are suspicious. Theyre starting to pile on Orlaith, about who said what about who behind each others back. Derek thinks Orlaith is trying to come between Kemal and Makosi. Kemal brings it up with Orlaith in the lounge. Then he cant let the mole thing go and this causes major strain on his and Makosi’s friendship. They have a few heated arguments and Makosi even nominates him. But then they hug it out a bit later.
  • The Derek gossip about Anthony giving closeted vibes comes to a head as well. He brings it up with him in the garden. I keep thinking/remembering there was a little bit of this obsession back then of labelling/stereotyping or having a definitive 'outing' to what someone's orientation is, plus they also haven’t seemed to consider the possibility he could be Bi, and the end of the day who cares and Anthony just wants to set the record ‘straight’ as it were (as if there was something he could do/hasnt already done to 'prove' it when he dosent need to at all), not that it would be a bad thing if people thought he was (as Derek is merely observing behind his back, perhaps not in a malicious way IMO but OTOH it still creates a lot of gossip regardless in an environment/game like this IYKWIM).
  • Then again I also remember this still happens more recently, look at the way Shawn Mendes has to constantly reinforce his sexuality amid rumours and the ‘Larry Stylinson’ One Direction rabbit hole. And on that note Harry Styles just likes wearing dresses and some stereotypically ‘flamboyant’ outfits and it’s nothing to do with his sexuality. At the end of the day, he says he’s not, it doesn’t matter anyway, so it goes.
  • It’s funny though later in the same episode as that ‘comes out’ with Anthony, he wins the ‘2000th Diary Room visitor’ prize of a date with Big Brother and is flirting up a storm with him.
  • Kemal brings up another point later with his ‘discussion’ with Science about the ’shut your gay mouth’ comment that he said to Craig in one of his many heated arguments this week, about Science’s aversions to certain behaviours could be taken as homophobic, whereas Kemal knows he can joke around with someone like Anthony because he can take it for what it is kinda thing.
  • This week’s task is a pairs task of ‘Dogs and Trainers’. Some of the house decor has been spruced up like the DR chair with pawprint and the doona covers.
  • Science goes completely off the rails this week, having several VERY big screaming matches with Craig, Derek, Orlaith and Kemal in particular, the latter as his trainer and “Sci-Dog’ pulls Kemal around the yard running, takes his collar off and takes off, and gets sent to the loft (‘Dog House’) for a while by BB.
  • It’s doing a real number on Orlaith who wants to go home and cant stand being in the house with him any longer, Especially after their argument about moving the clotheshorse, She almost has a breakdown, but wont walk.
  • She’s thankful to be up for eviction after noms, but its an interesting one, because She’s up against Science, who IMO his antagonism has reached a bit of a peak and might be time for him to go (If the housemates really wanted him out maybe being up against someone like Anthony or Makosi might’ve been better/but also a bit risky) but then again Orlaith really wants to go, but they would rather her stay and Science finally go its gonna be an interesting one.
  • Eugene has several scenes where he’s a silent bystander in the massive blow ups, with a ‘Mummy and Daddy are fighting again’ look on his face, he even has a go at reasoning with Science a bit later on (which gets a surprisingly measured debate out of Science compared to his interactions with some of the others).
  • In addition to the homophobia accusations, Derek has been copping it a little bit for delving into the Science thing being like a little bit of racism towards his own kind. One of the rows with Science turns into one between him and his ‘dog’ Makosi about not backing him up, when Makosi dosent wanna get involved anymore in Science’s continual dramatics. Science tries to keep patting Derek on the shoulder to prove he’s not homophobic, and gets called to the DR by BB to settle down before something escalates.
  • Russell on Big Mouth confirms what I was thinking and only realised towards the end of the random scene of Craig alone in the lounge under a duvet and staring off into space weirdly like hes dozing off. but it then ends with him peeking under the duvet at himself and then I’m like ‘OH…. was he doing what I think he was’? LOL
  • Still on Craig and the gay talk, a few more having a sad moments this week; He appears to be struggling with some level of internalisation whilst in a glass closet kinda thing, under the cover with Anthony and Eugene nearby about the way he’s acted and how he will have to deal with his perception on the outside, and also later discussing the possibility of being in the final week/winning as being like feeling an acceptance.
  • When Makosi and Kemal are joking about what could get Anthony to ‘do’ Kemal, Craig gets uptight about ‘defending’ Anthony and Craig mistaking his reaction like it was dismissed. They later hug it out.
  • Orlaith and Science go back to having some civil conversations with each other about being up on Friday. Orlaith comes back around to still wanting to go (and its not just Science, but being in the house whilst Science could last 10 more weeks if the show went on that long). However she’s starting to feel like the public will keep her in and its preparing for at least one more week.
  • It turns out to be an extremely close result, Half a % in it (49.5 to 50.5%) with Science leaving. Still Orlaith has just gotten through by the skin of her teeth to do what no other Intruder has done before in main series UK (discounting Eugene and herself in Wk 7 being up in a six way vote): Surviving their first nomination in a head to head with an original housemate. The situation was also kinda a contrast in some ways to Ahmed Vs Becki match up from the previous series.
  • Science had an entertaining interview with Davina. ‘Power to tha people!’
onto Week 9!

BIG UPDATE (there was a lot of interesting content this week!)

BBUK6 Week 9 (plus some very beginning of Week 10 developments!) :

  • Big Mouth ‘John from Blackpool’ been on the Mouthpiece line a couple times now with the ‘GETTIM OWT!!!’ lol
  • I thought the Anthony Lookalikes on BBLB from 2 weeks ago were pretty even, This week though for Craig’s, I thought A, C, B in order (C a bit more after the head shave and got the attitude in the Craigisms) but then Audience goes for B with 52% over 20 ish for the other two (who like Kemal’s had the most expensive outfit) IDK I was a bit ehh on that one haha
  • Nominations this week had a twist, being nominate to save instead of to evict. Orlaith and Kemal are up.
  • The task is a Spy task, Kemal is the secret double agent, which allowed him once he did the secret gnome morse code task in the garden to go watch the bedroom toilet cam and ask Makosi some questions as Big Brother. It seems to finally clear up the is she a mole confusion somewhat. However some of the others notice that the door was locked while he was in there.
  • Yet they still dont pick him as the double agent in the culmination party of the task, instead choosing Derek, whom they then wonder if they’ve just evicted, but no hes just whisked off to the secret area for the night.
  • Craig and Anthony, what a turbulent week for them. (might go into this more in the end of season recap cause It gave me a lot of thoughts) basically they’ve been bickering more and more this week and Anthony has started to snap getting fed up with not only Craig, but Kemal when he had that argument about the shopping list late in the week.
  • First was the party with music chosen by the hm’s (Crazy In Love comes out again as well as Craig has a BB3 Alex moment singing Britney to the rails camera) Getting tipsy as well as Anthony and kissing Orlaith in front of Anthony, always wanting to hug him and then gasp! slapping him in the Diary Room (apparently trying to ‘protect him from Makosi)
  • and then again at the Spy dinner once it becomes clear that Anthony (in costume as an Australian Scuba diver) has drunk himself into a state that he not making any sense, later vomiting when Craig pulls him away to the lounge. Eugene has a go at being more assertive in telling Craig to lay off smothering Anthony and let him talk to BB in the Diary room on his own for a bit.
  • Ultimately I think it might be a combination of a few things, as much as he tries to deny how much his unrequited attraction to Anthony (as they think Derek is trying to smear tactic Craig’s image with for the sake of the game) may or may not be a factor, He’s doing himself no favours by the way he acts and goes too much (needs to take a big step back) and is so overpossessive/protective of Anthony, which is only made worse by the Isolation of the house, the dynamics of the people left (if Maxwell were still there I daresay he would told Craig to sod off already and leave him be, and it mightve turned more into like when Anthony found Science in a similar state a few weeks ago).
  • There might be something to what Derek was saying to Anthony and later the others about Craig not being mature enough at his age or his personality to handle his emotions and doesn’t know how to dial it back (as is a good suggestion for Craig), and also Anthony doesn’t know how to take idk more ‘softer sides of Craig’s friendship towards him (when its appropriate of course) IYKWIM.
  • You could even compare this to something like Daniel and Jason’s relationship last season maybe different dynamics but similar challenges in some respects. I dunno, Its a bit of a complex one to explain but boy is it giving some kinda fascinating analysis points.

  • And then we have Orlaith, still dithering on wanting to walk, and her pager personal task. Makosi again not buying it instantly (although BB shouldnt have activated it when Orlaith was that close to someone to detect the vibrations, she would’ve passed it otherwise as the latter attempts (once she came out with a cover story related to her wanting to leave - which Makosi still thought was bullshit as BB activated it immediately when Orlaith was then stading next to Anthony and Orlaith had to sing his praises when it was Craig and Makosi who’ve been her lean on lately).
  • The pass the parcel bit. You could’ve just come clean about the original secret mission Makosi as your ‘secret’, instead she comes out with ‘I had an Abortion’. Well that really brought things to a record scratch awkward pause! The way everyones been acting especially this week you cant tell if she’s being serious or not, who might be playing the game hardcore. They also won some pampering products and a kitten to watch over for an hour.
  • Some interesting guests on BBLB and Big Mouth again, John McCrirrick, Holly Willoughby, they had Ritchie from Five on last week, they’d been broken up for a few years already but apparently he was on a celeb reality show called ‘The Farm’ the year before.
  • They had a few ‘Science Talks’ mini segments like Maxwell did. Also someone brought Kinga back up which was interesting cause:
  • Shock the eviction was close again, and it’s Kemal who goes. Lots of ‘Faberlous, Baby Doll Tzusj” talk in his interview. Shame I did enjoy him, he had a cool arc with his expressing himself and really entertaining diary room entries. Orlaith is now resolute that she is walking the next day. They play as the morning alarm ‘Should I Stay or Should I Go?’

    Start of Week 10
  • Theres been such a flip in Orlaith’s behaviour IMO towards Derek as well especially the last few days as she’s broken down even further and finally completed her decision to walk. She despises him and actually now seems rather afraid of him and says she wasnt sleeping properly, when before it was mainly science who was breaking her down. Even though yeah, theres no love lost from Derek either there was one particular day he was in a foul mood and was bitching about Orlaith being a blonde self absorbed bimbo with Makosi, almost walked in on by Orlaith, I kindof do get his POV in some way as well of why is she dragging it out so much and allowing herself to be persuaded by the others to stay if she cant hack it mentally and being a bit older than the rest of them finds her contant whinging about it a bit much at times.
  • What is curious though as well was her interview with Dermott where she not only called out Derek, but Eugene as well and what came across was she couldnt give a shit about what the public thinks of her for waiting until Kemal was evicted to definitely walk because she ‘knew he was going’ which has kinda put a bit of a sour sting in the tail of sorts. Even her disinterest in getting the ‘crowd experience’ was interesting. Anthony couldn’t believe that she didn’t want part of that anymore and was just over it.
  • although to her credit, she did continually try and leave even before the eviction, but then at that point what else are the producers gonna do with the eviction show (cancel it like they did after fight night)? Keep Kemal in and open up a snap mid week boot from everyone left, double in Week 10, etc or something maybe?
  • Anyways it really did a number on Makosi that day losing both Kemal and Orlaith. Even though a few weeks ago she said she was gunning for her, she’s the only other girl, and even though she was bitching with Derek about her, She has a breakdown in tears and is consoled by Craig in the toilet that she thinks Derek hates her. It seems to be a bit of a pile on towards Derek next week now.
  • But… now things seem to be simmering down a bit again afresh for the final two weeks, Anthony forgot to read out the bog roll on the shopping list, so BB gives them a game to come to the Diary room and win some by naming the Horse (Silver) that BB is thinking of. Derek gets the clue and wins it and they later have some further trivia game in bedroom later So theyre a bit more interactive with only 5 left.
  • So I knew it! we werent yet Done with Kinga! I was surprised when that seemed to be over with back in Week 5 because I do remember knowing something about a wine bottle that we hadnt seen yet. I guessed either Orlaith goes and they just cant have such a Gender imbalance with a few weeks left or Orlaith walks and they decide to replace her or maybe shes a special guest for some task or something.
  • It’s an interesting one because she’s not fresh fresh this late in the game but she unlike Jon Tickle’s return is also eligible to potentially win, and thus gets a special immunity from noms task to get into the final week - at least one housemate has to NOT nominate her.
  • Her return (in a special daily show presented by Davina) has also helped perk up Makosi a bit again too. Wonder what the task is gonna be.

and that’ll do for now to where i’m up to!

onto Week 10!

Might have to watch that spy dinner again.

Can't believe you're still keeping up with Big Mouth and BBLB too. The longer series with longer episodes put me off rewatching the later series in full, never mind the spin offs too. The first few are nice and easy to rewatch as with half hour eps you can get through a week in a night.

Its Day 62, Craig Makosi and Orlaith are going on about Derek being a double agent, Nek minnute Anthony just starts slurring about who wants to win or whos said they think will win - a completely different subject and Craig takes him off to the Lounge.

It can be hit and miss depending whats on BBLB and Big Mouth - sometimes If I'm a little ahead on the main daily shows (like the nominations episode in particular before the results are shown on BBLB) the 'sneak peeks of tonights episode' or footage that comes up later on the dailies during BBLB's 'Big News' segment are a little bit skimmable but sometimes its extra stuff.

Same with Friday BBLB is usually a little more of a fluff episode before the eviction just the friends and fam 20 second support thing, chat with the crowd, chat with Davina, Eviction Prediction and Last calls make up the most of it.

I Reckon they must be close to running out of languages without going fictional or repeating for Dermot to do the opening welcome spiel in which has been a thing this season, - one of the eps I recently watched he did it in Esperanto. lol.

BBUK6 Week 10:
  • BBLB: They showed Kemal his lookalike who had a whole new look for this appearance. They made up a Eugene too - my pick would be B, C ——A. They voted for B. They’re also gonna have a vote for which of the ‘BBLB Sunday Outro Songs’ to play at the reunion episode).
  • Makosi’s weave - she’s still got the wig from the spy task which gives her hair a bit of an updated look. But wait ‘____WATCH’ is back and its WEAVE WATCH as Anthony got Makosi’s hair wet and she’s deciding whether to take it off. I think towards the end of the week she’s now wearing this flat straightened wig look full time for the time being.
  • bam Day 67. Anthony and Craig are having another argument. Craig’s now being dramatic about Eugene offering to help Antony sew a button back on his pants. Anthony’s had enough of his catasrophising and tell him off. Go Anthony! although hes back to caving in to Craig a little later when Craig has a sook feeling that Eugene is ‘evil’ and trying to tear him down. They have another tiff later in the week, then back to all chummy and its pretty rollercoaster with these two atm.
  • its almost all of them Bar Kinga up (she manages to not get any noms at all) with a tie on 2 a piece but it ends up being Makosi’s votes in the final noms to put up Derek and Eugene this week.
  • Later Kinga gets reallly plastered more drunken shenanigans waking Makosi up and taking her to the lounge to calm down. Later she’s still up with Craig and Anthony and THE WINE BOTTLE! lol.
  • The Task is a Rodeo task where they have to do some things like Linedancing (to Shania Twain ‘Man! I Feel Like A Woman’) Sharpshooter and Lasso. Theres also a mechanical bull they have to stay on for a collective 2 mins
  • Makosi has flipped on Kinga, She’s too loud and also like Craig starting to bitch about it feeling like BB is trying to mess with her by putting her back in. Theres also her having a go at Eugene for not cleaning the bin liner after Craig runs in and causes drama by telling her that Eugene said he didnt like being spoken to like that. Eugene starts to get emotional a little later about the prospect of being isolated if Derek leaves.
  • BBLB they got Orlaith and Kemal on at the same time to try and clear the air a bit - that went about as awkward as the Penny and Stuart one back in BB2.
  • and lol they got Blair McDonough (BBAU2001) on BBLB (Day 69)! He wouldve just been finishing up on Neighbours a little while after this IIRC. They get him to do a guess the neighbour bit and also talking about Kinga that Aus BB nicknames them Intruders, and there was a permanent Basketball hoop in the BBAU1 house (he should’ve told Dermot about the gym equipment in the AU houses at the time! that would’ve been a luxury for a few hours reward in BBUK). Haha.
  • Davina was on Big Mouth on the Friday episode.
  • The Eviction was Derek leaving. Eugene cries mixed tears and Derek had a fun interview with Davina (also apparently the accusations about initials being traced into hands mightve been Vanessa he says! Also Wimbledon was a month before this Derek). He makes a bit of a toast to the remaining 5 before he leaves.
  • Theres gonna be something on Wednesday, Mid Week eviction.
onto Week 11 - Finale week!

BBUK6 Week 11 and Season Finished!:
  • Craig and Anthony again, whew that one was pretty explosive. Craig’s driving him absolutely up the wall, This time it was triggered by Craig attempting to throw a half bottle of beer over Anthony, and again with a glass of water later when he and Makosi are in the pool. The next day he has a bit of a panic attack when theyre arguing about it again but then after chilling out in the diary room its back to calm. Makosi also has a bit of a teary moment and Anthony wets her with the hose but didnt know she was upset.
  • BBLB Sunday : Derek arrives at the studio by horse. Roberto came out of a cake for Derek’s BDay on BBLB. They had a comp where the got the best ‘put the housemates masks on pictures’ viewers to do an elim challenge a day from various previous tasks (Room 101 Prawns, Pirate Bilge Bucket race, Rodeo bucking bull, Thinking Cap answer the previous question) to attend the BBLB Reunion.
  • The hypnotise mini task where everyone wasn’t actually hypnotised but all had competing Secret missions to make everyone else think they were.
  • Makosi gets ‘kidnapped’ in a gingerbread house cage whilst the rest are tempted with treats to keep her another 30 minutes or to let her out. Kinga pretends she got given Cherry Tango in the house. Eugene has a bit of a cry and lets her down.
  • LOL the BBPlay mini task the genre theyve chosen is ‘arguing’ and straight off its Makosi playing Sam against Craig as Lesley and Makosi’s whole bit is just going ‘F U FU, Bitch, Bitch FU Bitch!’. The one where Anthony and Craig were playing each other was a little awkward it was like role play therapy in a way lol.
  • lol its non alcoholic drinks for this party, and Kinga’s still acting drunk and loopy. Singalong with Eugene in the bedroom haha. He does start to get a bit annoyed with her drunken antics later though when she keeps questioning him about being a virgin with a condom on her hand.
  • Theres a mid week eviction in the middle of the dinner, Craig has to get dressed quickly and walk out. It’s a big shock to the rest who think theyre being called to the lounge for another one, But its just for the Prize money dilemma - Eugene comes to the Diary room and takes half the 100K - thinking it will evict him but its not, he can still win the other half - but he didn’t know that not taking it would have doubled the prize money - which the others are told. It takes a while and for BB to literally tell Anthony for him to get that (tbf he was preoccupied with getting his eviction outfit ready at the time).
  • Craig still has some issues to sort out - it sounded like there was a bit of unease with his parents appearance on second last BBLB that they felt he was being edited and portrayed a certain way which was a bit of an awkward one for Dermot.
  • ‘Weave Watch’ Makosi keeps asking for a new one and a blow dryer - finally takes the weave out and her natural hair is frizzy - BB gives them all pampering products products on the final day and she’s able to wash it out and attach a sleek hair piece to the back for the Final night.
  • The final of Big Mouth was really entertaining, they brought back a couple of the BB Obsessives and such in the back row audience, Main panel was Jade (BB3), Vanessa Feltz and Jon Connell, and front row audience was the ex hm’s (minus Derek - although they propped up that ‘little monkey’ in the corner of set from his Big Mouth appearance as a homage to that bizarre moment in the house last week lol).
  • Duncan from Blue is back, this time on BBLB finale in studio as part of Makosi's fan club.
  • On the final day, the morning alarm is a live voiceover by Marcus Bentley like he’s doing the daily show. also Davina calls in and tells them she’ll see them tonight.
  • Kinga fourth, Makosi Third, comes out to a whole lot of booing which continues throughout her interview with Davina - and she doubles down on the ‘nobody knows what happened in the pool’ take which gets a bad reception.
  • Eugene comes out as Runner Up, leaving Anthony as winner. Both have some posing moments on their way down the catwalk (which is done up similar to CBB3’s Finale - only the stair entrance is back this season).
  • BBLB Reunion - The winning viewers song was the ‘Youre never alone’ with some updated lyrics. Bit of a tense moment with Anthony and Makosi about what she’s been saying about the pool incident in the papers - later expanded on a bit in the after specials). Jenni Trent Hughes was back on too.
  • The ‘What The Housemates Did Next’ and ‘Winners Story Episodes had a lot of different updates, Photoshoots for Orlaith and Sam (feat. Vanessa (BB5), Maxwell and Science both appeared on ‘MOM’ a kids show that had Holly Willoughby co hosting, Kinga said she’s made a lot of money from appearances and such, as well as Makosi, as has Anthony beyond his winnings with magazine deals and things.
  • Derek Maxwell and Kemal appeared on ‘8 out of 10 Cats’ along with Jade (BB3) Victor (BB5) and Michelle (BB5). Eugene doing a lot of radio appearances and going on TOTP meeting Andi Peters who was a supporter of his on BBLB.
  • Lesley and Science pursuing Music (and Kinga), Mary acting, Eugene had a lot of radio interviews, Roberto doing more cooking and also DJ’ing on a trip to Italy. Theres some talk about how Saskia and Maxwell are going on the outside (feat Helen (BB2)). Kemal doing a lot of appearances, Some following Derek around town, Craig homecoming (I did laugh when I thought he said ‘oh you get lynch mobbed’ - I think he means flash mobbed) and Anthony coming home doing his dance troupe thing etc, and thats a wrap!
Next: Overall season wrap up and Housemate final thoughts!

Overall Season thoughts BBUK6:
  • There wasn’t really many dull moments this series, most weeks there was always something chugging along, especially where nominations were concerned there was a lot of twists to them, some relied on a few things to go a certain way (Makosi Week 1, Vanessa in week 2, the nominations lie week etc) but kept it interesting (vote to save week)
  • The casting definitely helped too, in a lot of the post season analysis Ive seen it could be at times a bit of a volatile household there were a lot of different factions flip flopping.
  • Also the way the Intruders were embraced/stuck around had a huge impact on the season like hadn’t been seen before.
  • There was a lot of potential what if scenarios with the way things played out and the different twists this season I thought too.
  • I think the Season can be broken up in a few ways, I’d say probably the first 4 weeks up to Roberto’s eviction/Secret Garden Entered are pretty together, then Weeks 5 and 6 are the Cidergate/demise of Saskia & Maxwell’s dynasty (also contains Poolgate). Next Week 7-9 are Anthony & Craig, Orlaith taking down Science and Kemal then walking, and then Kinga comes in Week 10 for the endgame.
  • lots of catchphrases to rival last season, ‘Off The Hook’ ‘Dog Eat Dog - End Of’, ‘Fabolous’, ‘Sister can clean that up’ ‘Ghastly’, ‘I Won’t Diminish My Character’, ‘At the end of the day’, ‘ Whateva- minger’ ‘ya get me’, ’mint!’, ‘power to the people!’ etc etc.
  • Big Brother even gained a bit of sarcasm in several moments this series.
  • BBLB and Big Mouth had several entertaining recurring segments this season - BBLB had the start of show language hellos, housemate lookalikes makeovers, ‘pick your key’, the end of Sunday viewer song performances were really good too. Big Mouth had a lot more interaction with Russell in the audience, the ‘textual preference/textually transmitted disease’ polls, Jon Connell got his own analysis VT segment, BB Mouthpiece (John from Blackpool actually got on as a call in the finale show ‘get Craig back in!!!’ lol)).
  • The house built on a similar casing to Series 5 but with some different touches.
next: some final Housemate blurbs.

BBUK6 Housemates Pt 1:

Mary:
At first wasn’t sure how to take her with her OTT entrance and some of her antics the first few days, but once she settled down and wouldnt mind staying instead of thinking about walking, but then was promptly evicted, She seemed pretty chill and like I said was pretty well spoken with her appearances almost co-hosting BBLB in some of the segments she appeared in. As mentioned she appeared to be wanting to get into acting, I think I read she fell on some tough times a bit later but otherwise kept going with the spiritual business side of things and that IIRC.

Lesley: She got a bit Catty with Sam (although they seemingly made up after), which was her downfall. even without Vanessa being the scapegoat for the 12 way eviction, She and Sam may have simply swapped eviction order. Still it was a little bit predictable, It would’ve been interesting though to see a little more of her (although she was happy to go and iirc was also thinking of walking) if only for how far ‘team britney' would’ve went from that point. Apparently post show she also had a hard time but has come through the other end.

Sam: I did feel a bit sorry for her getting jumped on a bit by Lesley’s crew, but at the same time she had some boring moments and came across a bit insecure and perhaps compensating a little bit with the ‘I like sex’ personailty. She had a big hand in failing the hospital task taking the bag off her leg. Post show she did some X-rated things and photoshoots and the like. I think she also got a bit of an unfair rap by the female public a lot didn’t like her. Apparently during the box task there was also an allegation of some self love perhaps?

Roberto: I thought He was good value although he started to overlap positioning in the house a little bit with Derek in some ways around the time he was evicted. many of his outbursts with Kemal, Maxwell, Makosi, Science and dramatic moments came from moreso a place of culture or age gap/life experience I felt, he was a pretty laid back guy otherwise and his friendship with Derek was fun. I read that he went back to teaching after the show and did some cooking/DJ? stuff as well iirc.

Saskia: As I mentioned, I think Lesley and Sam dramas early on made her seem more calm and collected by comparision. It was when she started with Maxwell ‘seriously’ had the Derek ;’Smiling Assassin’ comment; and then put her foot in it with Cidergate against Makosi and then cavorting with Maxwell (“At least someone got wet tonight and it wasnt Saskia!”) My opinion of her went south and I was kinda mixed on her by her eviction interview. I think she got caught up in the Maxwell hype train as well as maybe the cheering/booing from that unique week 2 eviction opportunity in the house cross a little bit and that inflated her ego in the house.

Maxwell: I thought he seemed pretty cool and chill in his VT intro, but he turned out to be very laddish and kicked off with several housemates (Science with the bin, Roberto with the noodles on the head, Kemal with the water and pranks, Makosi with the Cider etc). Similar to Saskia you couldn’t often work out whether he would start to pull it around a bit removed from her, or whether she was the one being dragged down by the showmance, but they both imploded within a week of each other so we didn't really get to see either of those scenarios play out in a fuller way.

One thing it did do was give us a step down in dismantling the ‘Team Saskia’ dynamic into what we eventually got with Craig and Anthony. Anthony’s image also I felt got better first by not being tied to the douchier parts of his personality whilst the couple was in full swing, and then the way he weathered Craig’s antics. The couple only lasted 2 years or so apparently and Saskia is now married with kids I think I saw.

BBUK6 Housemates Pt 2:

Vanessa:
She was an interesting one, a big example of presenting a certain way in the intro package, but then getting into the house and either not delivering because thats not how they actually are in the outside, or finding it a bit of a shock when they’re actually in the house and find it hard to adapt or how to fit into the groove amongst other strong personalities depending how it is.

She did end up having some part in some major moments though: being the scapegoat for the 12 way eviction in Week 2, refusing the Room 101 task, and being the evictee of the face to face eviction in Week 7. She kinda fell into being Makosi’s offsider once team Britney dissolved.

It would’ve been much more of a shock had Makosi actually been evicted in that (maybe if Kemal somehow achieved a blindside) and she became the true ‘Final original girl’ whether that would’ve changed anything much.
I read apparently she later started at a law firm and is a lawyer which is interesting. I did find some of her antics entertaining, like BB repeating her bitching about Sam point blank back to her, the ‘Omigaw big bruvva’ recap of the pool thing gossip etc.

Science: He was one I initially thought was saved by his arguments being overshadowed several times by other goings on in the house Especially during ‘Cidergate’ By Week 8 though it was starting to wear thin when he went all out during the dog task that week. He was kinda interesting too as Dermot kept saying he was his own guy a lot of the time, not really aligning himself with anyone in particular, flip flopping with Derek too by the end Derek thought he was ‘Ghastly’ and Science called him the ‘Dark Deciever’. He had a humble side though when he wasnt getting carried away, this showed in his defeat of Maxwell, interactions with Eugene and sometimes ‘Moloko’ (Makosi) and his interview with Davina. It looks like he continued in the music scene after the show.

Kemal: He was pretty funny at the beginning and his scathing diary rooms and nominations were gold in his squabbles with Science and Roberto. At some point midway though he started to crack under the vague mysteriousness of who Makosi was, and this paranoia saw him align with Derek a bit. It wouldve been interesting to see him make the final perhaps still being wary of Makosi, and perhaps getting on with the Kinga Makosi tension if she still entered in that scenario.

I feel that also perhaps in a slightly different way to Craig even Kemal was somewhat reluctant at times to put a restrictive/definitive label on his sexuality out loud in those days (‘ i don’t know, growing up gay or bi or whatever’) as a coping thing even if its highly likely its anything but completely straight due to the ‘out loud’ obvious markers for it I guess which is fair enough, in your own time/own situation IYKWIM. I did read he had some type of ‘fling’ with Kinga for example after the show, and these days apparently is trans living as a woman named ‘Zulyelka’ and doing public speaking. He certainly was also well spoken on BBLB and such and carried some segments well (if maybe a bit much on the peppering of fabolous/babydoll talk sometimes).

Orlaith: She was an interesting one, who later turned out to be possibly solely in it to further her career and get the modelling shoots out of it that She had me guessing right at the end of her stay whether she ended up deciding to play the game by playing the waiting game (did Ireland really like her that much to get behind her in votes?) as much as she could bear, stir some controversy by getting Science and Kemal out by some fluke close votes and attempt to further character assassinate Derek (and possibly Eugene judging by her BBLB interview) on her way out the door?

On the other hand, maybe she just really did have a rough time and took too long to pull the trigger of walking. It would certainly be interesting if she had walked before either of those evictions, or If Kinga had replaced her earlier or even been chosen over her originally. I think I read she continued to do some modelling and stuff much like Sam.

BB6 is my favourite series and still the one to beat. BB7 is fun but will be even more of a commitment for you with even longer episodes across more weeks.

I'll catch up a bit more on BB20 and also start CBB4 tonight I think (next in chrono order). Which was the last Channel 4 CBB again (I know it skipped a year or two because of the race row thing)? Do they get any longer than 18 days (CBB3 was this long). When they started on C5 its two a year wasn't it.

I also see 'Little Breakfast' in the show titles list. BBLB is on in the mornings this time?

CBB4 is 23 days and one of the best - CBB5 is the race row one. Yes, BBLB did air in the breakfast slot one year for Celeb BB so this must be it.

Think you've missed BB Panto which was between BB5 and CBB3. Not a competitive series but the first using ex-HMs.

BBUK6 Housemates Pt 3:

Derek:
I thought he was good value, with his takes on some things and the posh accent and way of speaking. I think he’s another like Science who had some close chances to go earlier on just it didn’t work out that way. and did pretty well for a Housemate in his 40’s, who, as apparently mentioned on radio hadn’t really watched the show before but just decided to give it a go.

Although sometimes some of his actions did come off as sly and conniving especially to the younger crew, I thought some of hem were just him stirring the game up pretty brilliantly from a playing the game perspective, just it did backfire on him a few times (Saskia, Science and gossip about Anthony and Orlaith coming back around for some examples). He was a bookies favourite in the odds in the middle there it would’ve been interesting to see him in the finals. He went on to become a commentator and column writer afterwards but apparently doesn’t refer to his time on the show much anymore.

Craig: hoo boy, at times its was frustrating/hard to watch but interesting at the same time Craig’s journey, especially when it came to the Anthony stuff. I think at the core of it was probably his unresolved issues with his sexuality, and yes gay Straight friendships can exist but even with any unrequited crush feelings removed, some of Craig’s behaviour was just too much, and he had a very possessive/defensive side when it came to Anthony, and a bit of a persecution complex that was only amplified and exacerbated by the confines of the house environment and also that he was still only 20 a bit perhaps too.

Yeah Kinga didn’t have to bring up his sexuality, and Derek didn’t need to keep poking at the way their relationship looked like maybe Anthony was into it too, but the way Craig just jumped to conclusions that everyone was out to attack his character, or wanted Anthony to defend him, and couldn’t see that maybe he just needed to take a step back and dial it down, had me frustrated and I think made him unlikable in some peoples eyes.

It was hard for Anthony to get away from /try to figure out how to calm him down as well or give him some tough love and leave him to sort himself out kinda thing when they couldn’t truly get away from each other for a bit or didn’t have as close of ally at that point in the other housemates.

I was reading that apparently Craig continued with the salon for a while then did a stint in the Navy as well! anyways a complex hm IYKWIM and I hope that he grew a bit and worked through some of his stuff that was clearly leftover by his time on the show.

Kinga: She was kooky but also in her interviews pretty well spoken I thought. She definitely livened it up as well as kept some tension going in the last two weeks. Again as previously mentioned it wouldve been interesting to see her enter from the time Eugene did and maybe she could’ve developed even more of a following and support into the finals as well as some different dynamics with the housemates remaining at that time?. Memorable for the wine bottle of course, apparently now has a youtube channel.

Makosi: She was entertaining. From the get go with her original secret mission, through to the Secret Garden, and kinda being instrumental in rilling up the Saskia/Maxwell group with Cidergate. But I think past the pool incident, she started to slowly get a bit full of herself and perhaps a bit addicted to playing the game (and possibly being a compulsive liar), running with the pool thing and the obviously fake pregnancy being brought up again at the very end didn’t do her much favours in the eyes of the public and even the other hm’s as her eviction interview showed.

Davina did bring up how she seemed to sabotage other’s secret missions and couldn’t help herself, and/or if She didn’t get that secret mission at the start would her game be different. Also when she started being a little bitchy (and talking about wanting Orlaith out then being a bit two faced like Craig was to her as well a little bit), as well as talking herself up for the win the final week, put some viewers offside I think too. You cant deny though she played a hell of a game, I Loled at the way she played that button press for the secret garden and everyones reactions to it. She in the time since has gone to Nigeria and works as a public speaker.

Eugene: He was an interesting one. Can relate to some of the social awkwardness kindof, but his felt like it was on a pretty deep level. I do wonder whether nowadays he would be more speculated to be on the spectrum or Asperger’s perhaps? He started off pretty quiet in the side of some scenes but gradually started to get a little more assertive and confident as it went on such as having a go trying to smooth over issues between Science and the others, With Craig on Drunk Anthony night, and got a friendship going with Derek.

He did well for himself, His popularity grew with the public as well that by the final he had risen in the odds considerably and people felt for him when he was having those emotional moments, and also he got the Prize money twist which e struggled with alongside getting along with Kinga in that final week. Again they were an interesting Duo from the outset the first time around in the Secret garden. After the show now I read Eugene works with the BBC as a Satellite Engineer.

Anthony: At the beginning he was getting booed going INTO the house for taking too long with his dance moves and being a poser. lol. Then he was kinda Maxwell’s shadow in a few scenes, and also was a potential showmance option with Sam, Makosi and even Saskia If Maxwell left according to the psychologists. Once Saskia and Maxwell left though, The saga of him and Craig started, and I think it made Anthony look/come off better by the way he handled it, even though at times Craig drove him up the wall and he had a few snappy moments.

Overall he was one of the only ones by the end that didn’t come across as having a big game playing or malicious side and that also helped his journey to win I think. I even found myself getting behind him a bit as a winner towards the end for the way he was handling Craig as well as the sus sides of Craig and Makosi really starting to go all over the place by then. He appeared on some tv shows had a workout dvd, and now funnily enough trained as a Barber and runs a barbershop/cocktail bar.

Ok, now to CBB4 (2006)!

CBB4 (January 2006) Starts!

CBBUK4 Launch:

  • Some minor changes to the BB6 house: shower and sink now inside the bedroom where the bedroom toilet area was, there is a gym room as a treat room where room 101 was, the lounge chairs square is slightly rotated. The pool is enclosed to form a heated indoor pool, and off to the side where the outside shower was is now a ’submarine’ room sauna. theres some lights on the far wall and the loft is gone, replaced with a small heated bitching session cave.
  • Chantelle is the first housemate in, but she has a secret mission; convince the other 10 celebrities she is a celebrity to stay. BB says she is from the pop group ‘Kandy Floss’ and their hit single is ‘I Want It Right Now’. I remember reading about this twist a while back too but not sure how it turned out.
  • Im not sure I know Michael Barrymore? (no relation to Drew it seems) Davina said he had a part in Spice World.
  • Pete Burns I know and I remember hearing about having done CBB before. How appropriate I think that was the Marilyn Manson version of Tainted Love playing in his intro package?
  • Traci Bingham I think I’ve heard of before as well as George Galloway and I know of Dennis Rodman. Not sure about Faria, and Rula, I thought her husband Dennis Davina mentioned might’ve been related to Pete Waterman of SAW but no thats PeteR Waterman. Anyway yes she does seem ‘eccentric’.
  • Jodie Marsh and Preston have both been on BBLB before I think, Preston definitely was last season. The Ordinary Boys song sounds kinda familiar but not sure if I know it/heard it. Maggot I don’t know but Goldie (throwback to CBB2! haha) Lookin’ Chain seem to be a comedy band. He’s kinda giving me Bez from CBB3 vibes already.
  • I think Preston and Maggot are good additions though for Chantelle's mission, just obscure enough maybe to the older HM’s or the Americans to have never heard of them/not familar with them vs someone like Pete Burns so If BB asks them point blank about there being an impersonator, Chantelle’s backstory seems more believable next to theirs. Also I thought it was maybe a good move to be 5 Girls and 6 Boys to throw them off if someone is thinking well the impostor might come from the uneven gender perhaps (even though as well Pete has a drag/gender bending look going on).
  • The outro to the launch and Pete is already chatting about the ethics of wearing fur gifted to him.
Little Breakfast Day 2:
  • It’s on at 8am, and leads into ‘Morning Glory’ from 8:30-9am hosted by Dermot. It only lasted while CBB4 was on, ‘Freshly Squeezed’ replaced it from August 2006 to 2012 apparently.
  • The set has been slightly updated with a new couch and the monitors have a rounded kinda border. Theres an onscreen time stamp. The Housemates portraits wall is similar to BB6 though.
  • Song for Big Brother is going to return.
Onto the first daily show then the first Big Mouth ep.

I think this was my favourite "celebrified" house - really liked what they did with the pool/sauna.

Im not sure I know Michael Barrymore? (no relation to Drew it seems) Davina said he had a part in Spice World.
He was a very popular light entertainment presenter of the late 80s and 90s - won the NTA Presenter award annually in the way Ant and Dec do now. His career came to a crashing end when a man was found dead in his swimming pool during a party, a case still not solved 20 years later.

CBBUK4 Day 5 (just passed 'Live Verdict' episodes):
  • Ok so I've just passed the 'Live Verdict' Double episode where we find out if Chantelle stays or goes.
  • Big Mouth set is pretty much the same, Russell has a bit of stubble going on. Theyve brought back the caption competition, as 'Brand's Snatch' and Textually Transmitted Disease. The first ep they only had 2 panel - Miranda Devine and Riccardo who were pretty funny.
  • Little Brother does have actual episodes it seems but theyre sporadic. This one was on around 11am, featuring friends and family of Chantelle, Goldie Lookin' Chain and the other guy from Ordinary Boys.
  • I think this was my favourite "celebrified" house - really liked what they did with the pool/sauna.

  • Thanks for this context, Without me having to minefield the wiki ;) This incident must have happened before CBB? It explains his emotional reaction to not getting booed but cheered on entry, Talking about having been to rehab 8 times and in his chat with Pete about the media expecting him to fail, apparentkly he went off to New Zealand to get away from it all.
  • Furthermore there seemed to be an elephant in the room on Big Mouth with them referring to something he was 'found not guilty' for and it seems like his motivation for returning to the UK and going on the show maybe similar to Faria's, to rehabilitate his public image. Also wasnt overtly obvious on the gaydar imo, thanks to Dennis for bringing that up thats a bit of extra context as well.
  • That fur discussion has become recurring actually - Jodie is with PETA and the Black and White spotted coat Pete has brought in is supposedly 'Gorilla' in origin (the fashion guru on BBLB apparently confirmed it - they mustve tie dyed it or something to get it two toned?) and its a bit controversial - Pete doesnt really have much thought into it and just sees it as something gifted to him. Dennis says hes done stuff for PETA too but it doesnt really bother him.
  • They have a quiz night where BB helps Chantelle with further facts about Kandy Floss for the questions about her for the others to answer. The winning team gets a party whilst the losers have to chill in the lounge.
  • Jodie has a bit of a cry in the lounge talking to Dennis about the flack she cops from the media. She was a bit miffed BB included a question about Jordan slagging off her breasts looking like sandbags or something earlier.
  • Preston is definitely onto Chantelles story, creating doubt in Jodie's mind as well. She's been too specific and inconsistent on chart positions, Telling George the song reached #58 while She told Preston it got to #47.
  • Chantelle has been getting on with Dennis chatting and mucking around. Michael has told a few of them he used to be a Gynaecologist - Traci is making some jokes about it and Chantelle asks what a Gyno actually is and has to guess. We don't know if she is playing dumb.
  • It started snowing lightly one morning outside. Traci gets Michael up to have a look. They've also been using the Gym from time to time and the Spa.
  • Theres another mini task where they all perform something theyre famous for. Michael does a bizarre multi personailty skit including and impression of Hitler, Traci does a Baywatch jog, Rula a scene acting, some of the others are speeches about what they've done, and the singers do a song. BB gets Chantelle to prepare/practice 'I Want It Right Now' in the Diary Room. She does ok but still is reading the lyrics sheet. It dosent fully convince Jodie and Rula.
  • The actual final task for Chantelle is a 'Dont get ranked bottom' in terms of a standing line of Most to least Famous.they get two minutes to arrange themselves. They reckon the Americans should be at the top while George argues that maybe it should be Michael since its a British Show first and foremost. Soon they go lets just get it done go and stand somewhere, Maggot has already gone over to put himself around the bottom. It turns out that Chantelle is 9th out of 11, ahead of Preston and Maggot, passing the task. Davina is watching hosting this special.
  • Chantelle is called to Diary Room and the others watch on the lounge screen as she is told she passed and is staying. It was good for her that this was the decider instead of asking them outright cause Preston, Jodie and maybe some of the others would've picked her out just based on their suspicions. BB asks for her autograph cheekily and Chantelle is still a bit wary if it's a trick question.
  • She comes out and theres a welcoming party set up for her with the others.
  • Nominations must be soon, with first eviction coming up on the Friday.

The ITV revival has inspired me to finally begin my BBUK binge. Or at least the channel 4 series for now. I've spent the last two days watching BB1, about to start week 4. Can't wait to finish up and share my thoughts.
