Today I ........

I’m sitting out on my balcony in unseasonal 11 degree weather and I was reminded that Calgary came reasonably close to bidding for the 2026 Winter Olympics. This weather would be great for spectators but a mess for those participating in events that require snow.

Oh that would have been a disaster. I wonder just how much life there is left in the Olympics (both versions). Nobody wants to spend the kind of money required to host them any more.

Oh, and I'll post a house update soon, hoping to (finally!) move back in on Sunday.

OMG and the contrast of the tiny but loud separatist movement here in Alberta. I wanted to support the bid but I’m glad I didn’t.

As for the Olympics themselves they could probably get away with having 3 or 4 host cities that they rotate through but I doubt they will go away completely.

Yeah, they obviously need to rethink the model. How embarrassing that Brisbane is hosting the 2032 games.
