Episode Day 30 Finale Show - 8/12/2025

Well, here's the thing. Pete Cunningham wasn't supposed to be the main BB this year. He was likely to be a deputy, much like he was years ago, for Leon Murray. But production got rid of Leon because his demands were too much for the network to consider, so they had to race around at the last minute. Therefore, Pete was chosen as main BB. If Pete isn't back next year, either one of two things happens. One - Grant Phillips is main BB next year, or two - they hire a brand new BB. They are not going back to Leon because otherwise, the budget (or lack thereof) would be blown to smithereens, and I don't believe either Peter Abbott or Nick Colquhoun are in the industry anymore.
Peter Abbott has credits online as recent as 2024. Nick Colquhoun, while not an executive producer on BB, has less information available. His IMDb credits end in 2010 but is listed on LinkedIn as being a director and executive producer for a company called The Public Domain in Sydney that is a creative consulting firm. He’s likely not freelancing as a producer anymore. Kris Noble was EP during Nick’s reign as BB. There’s conflicting info on him. His wiki says he’s retired and there was also rumour he had passed away. But that was never confirmed.

Grant Philips or someone new will likely replace Pete. I’d be stoked if Nick would reprise his role, but I think those days have long since passed. While BB can definitely be funny and playful, an authoritative tone and presence is still needed.

I wonder if they actually believe this is good TV ?? They probably do when you consider the garbage production that was BB this year..
this was their crowning moment and what they were trying to achieve from the start. So thousands of mums across the country "Go Coco! what a wonderful mum and strong independent woman. Now who wants some Pickers for dinner kids!?"

The live action TV screen all day... just stop it
At some point IIRC before launch there was a photo with the screens having a digital painting on them. But now I can't find this to confirm, was I daydreaming? Anyway this sounds like a good idea to only show housemate portraits when they are nominating or on the couch facing eviction. Even showing just the BB eye all day I think is too much. They should use something that there is even a 0.1% chance that a typical household might put on their TV. The clouds in the BB05 bedroom was a good one (sorry for the crappy pic):

Im going to remain hopeful though that they will get a more experienced team next year or at the very least a few experienced crew over different areas who can oversee the operations assuming they’ll have a bigger budget.
Given how long it has been since Australia last had a good Big Brother season, they need experienced crew familiar with OG BBAU at least to start with to show the ropes to the less experienced. And maybe this crew can advocate for reverting to the dumped human eye logo for 2026, too.

Agreed that's why we can't have leon back. Make it an unknown person
The thing is, the voice is usually a producer in some capacity. Abbott was an EP who did it because most of the crew willing to work on the Gold Coast in the early 2000's were British, and Ten didn't want BB to be British on air.

After Abbotts time, Nick came on as the main voice. I'm not sure when his deputies Aaron and Rikkie started but all three alternated as supervising house and control room producers if you pay attention to the end credits at that time. Afaik Leon was the first who was purely a VO artist (though he may have assumed a producer role if someone wants to correct me). He was originally an editor on the show.

I'm not sure if Pete Cunningham was considered a producer this year even though he is a producer on other shows. On another note, I find it disrespectful to the team that make the show (whether its good or not) to not receive credit at the end of episodes.

A producer in some capacity needs to run the booth to ensure appropriate handling and responses. Rikkie and Aaron did play a good Deputy BB but I don't know what they're up to these days. Just using a voice over artist adds a margin for error as they must have to defer regularly to a producer or individual in charge.

Its not like it took until Leon for us to know who was behind the voice of main Big Brother.

We've known who Big Brother was since the first series. Peter Abbott was appearing on specials, doing interviews and so forth.

Nick Colquhoun never did publicity as far as I'm aware though. Think we only really figured it was him because of the credits and possibly media articles?

Same thing for Leon until he too started doing some publicity but different to Peter in the sense Leon did it as part of a voice reel.

People knowing who is behind the main voice shouldn't stop them from continuing as BB. Its kinda like saying well known cartoon characters and so forth need to stop having their voices as we're aware of who voices them.

In a perfect world we'd have crew credits at the end of each broadcast, which'd by design tell us who is voicing BB.
When we eventually get access to the full 2025 main theme, I would very much like for you to make a mock creation of what the closing of what a 2025 episode should have been.

And perhaps send that video directly to Channel 10 and the production team.

At this point, I don't care who the voice is, they need someone who is capable of being a strict Big Brother. Pete Cunningham, with all due respect, proved both as a deputy and as the main BB to be incapable of this. Leon was. Nick was. Peter Abbott was. Grant? Don't know. But media articles claiming that the soft approach is for the best clearly don't understand the show or what made it popular in the first place. And the production team may have known, but clearly couldn't give two shits about the OG days that got 2 million viewers per season.

As I've kept saying, keep the same production team, keep the same Love Island style showmances, and this show will not last. Sure, it's probably done enough to run through until 2027, but producers don't seem to mind losing their hardcore fanbase in order to push their agenda. And quite frankly, despite all the changes that these forums' members have provided, including myself, I have my doubts that much, if anything will change. I hope I will be proven wrong.

In this day and age I think it’s especially unrealistic to keep the voice of BB a secret, imo.

in keeping with the ' this day and age ' thought process, is it now time to consider the show being changed to 'BIG SIBLING" and allow a female presenter to play the role as the invisible house voice

A Gretel - type person would suit.....not a Mel type,,,,Cornelia Frances of old ( rest in peace bluey ) or any of the Weakest Link type gals

The BIG and the Brother are oppressive in nature for the under 25's that no doubt made up huge amount of demographic ( just look at the age of the chick that ran into Holly's arms at her eviction,,,and even though that cherubic little paid actress has lost her social media privileges as of midday today, she and her mates swoooooon over the fkTards in the house each year

I was 29 when BB2001 started...how old were U ?

Harsh reality is the target demographic didn't watch any of the OG Ten run. They're still targeting the fanbases who grew up with Nine and Seven.

I, for one, first watched the show in 2005, but still watched the earlier seasons (though obviously not in real time).

Correction: 2004. I remember watching when Trevor won.

Yes that's well said. I'm assuming Pete is a producer of some sort simply because I don't think they would have the funds or effort to do what channel 7 did and bring in a voice over artist just for the role, they would want someone who can make decisions on there own like all previous main BBs did. If leon doesn't return which I'm hoping he doesn't then it's just gonna be a producer of some description. Seeing they are running it on a skeleton Crew that's why I believe it's just a producer and not what 7 did.

That's well said. If it's the same production team and same editing BB will be dead by 2027.
Unfortunately everyone involved with the production seem blinded and think they did the world's greatest job. What's frustrating is I know anyone of us on here with no experience could run bb better

Yes b

Yes but when leon is so active in promoting him self as BB. It would be better to go back to how it was on the 04-07 run where Nick never appeared anywhere

If Leon's wage demands where to high then Pete and Nick will be ruled out. I'd do it for free 😂

Serious question.. who is it best to contact. Endemol shine or channel 10 with our complaints. I can't see endemol shine listening. 10 are more likely to
