Episode Day 22 Eviction Show - 30/11/2025

I see Abiola kept her mic after walking off with it.

,,,well,,,she DID have an obligation to record a " goodbye to the house....."If you're watching this i have taken 15 bands from your prizemoney and am going to be sleeping on this huge wad of ca$h whilst you smell the farts of the remaining specimens inside"

It might hold up on TV, but I think it's more down to there being a certain number of people watching the show on TV and keep watching it because they can't find anything better on TV.
Considering we live in a world where viewers aren't restricted to five main FTA networks and have a myriad of on demand services and options available to them, that argument just doesn't fly.

If people aren't liking what they're seeing, they wouldn't keep tuning in.

Keep dreaming that dream, baby.

These live shows are becoming more unhinged as we go along. Thankfully I watched the replay to skip all the uncessary stuff but real tragedy is Holly's eviction. I find it hard to believe she had less votes than Bruce but, whatevs. Yes, she was a menace, but her delusional theatre was incredible only because I loved reading's peoples reactions to her on this forum. We've now lost our antagonist, and the producers can continue to force feed us Colin's winner narrative which NO ONE HAS ASKED FOR.

You might not be restricted to five main networks, but that doesn't mean that everyone makes use of the added variety. Choice overload is a thing. Most people that watched FTA TV yesterday won't consider streaming today. Most people that watch FTA today won't consider streaming tomorrow. They're going to pick their entertainment from the same pool of choices they have.

I don't have data for Australia, but if you don't mind using Google Translate, i can show you data from Europe that shows that people tend to pick their entertainment form a limited pool of options. But you might also check and see if Big Brother drew a huge number of young people back to FTA or if it's mainly the ones that already watched FTA last year but now switch to Big Brother instead of watching whatever they've watched last year.

It's obviously not true for every single person, but it's true for a bigger group of people.

I totally missed this when watching the show - an out of focus Colin was looking at the camera during the pause before Holly's name was read out (and ruining the shot).

How was what I said an unrealistic comment?

In this day and age, people simply aren't going to watch something they don’t like or don't want to watch. For better or worse, BB's ratings performance so far suggests that this season is resonating with viewers. If it wasn't, the conversations we would be having would be very different.

Yeah Mel's script was very Sonia-esc tonight, but I really love her delivery and she effortlessly makes the role her own. I personally thought she did very well tonight considering the absolute MESS she is fronting. To me tonight's live show was a bit better, I do love the live chat to the housemates.

Honesty, I wouldn't even care if they cut the daily show segment to 20 minutes (with ads even) to just focus on the live aspects more. The daily show editing sucks anyway.

Good on Abiola too but that rap scene had me physically cringing to the point of having to turn and face the wall as well as cover my face.

What’s also important to consider here is the time of year this season is currently airing in - end of year and ratings season. There’s little to no competition on FTA right now as people enjoy summer which would certainly be helping the show’s performance. The real test will be when the show is aired in a more prime time position in the year with other competitors.

People will be way more ruthless in switching off if there are other options, which there will be next year during ratings season. I genuinely do not think that this season is a valid enough attestation to the show’s long term success. Big Brother is a unique offering, there’s no real shows like it but they really need to consider these factors and overall sentiment towards the show now before producing the same rubbish next year.

Ratings don't show if viewers are resonating with the direction a show is taking or if they're just sticking with it because they've started to watch it.

Seven's version of Big Brother is the proof that your theory is not holding. After an initial drop, ratings for their first season were quite steady. Seven was probably excited that the show resonated well with viewers... but then some of them, a fifth actually, didn't return for the next series. All of them had steady viewers that then wouldn't return for the next season, leading to ever declining ratings. Even their final season had steady ratings.. despite nobody saying a good thing about that series, indicating that a lot of traditional viewing is done out of a habit and less because people are genuinely excited.

Thank you for contributing logic. I’ll stand by it, if the show continues in the same style and fashion next year, even if it is a longer season and especially at a different time of year, it will plummet against every other network. They’ve already failed this revival on many levels and have given viewers little incentive to stay invested next year, especially if nothing changes (particularly the live shows) and even more significantly against the real MAFS and Love Island etc on other networks if that’s all Big Brother’s narratives are emulating anyway.

This was their chance to come back fresher, stronger and different. The only reason the ratings are so strong is because the other networks are dimming the lights for the year - this was Ten’s opportunity to prove there’s a reason to tune back in next year. Now, a week out from the Finale, engagement online is growing negative and it’s clear they didn’t quite hit the mark on the quality of the show nor the hyped promises of what the programme would entail. Plain and simple.

The ratings aren’t the be all and end all. Watch next season bomb.

I'm just going to put it out there...

The reason for the stunt where they'd get a player to walk is because they knew two people had to go, but didn't want to lose potential storylines.

They were happy to lose Holly, because she was so unpopular with the public and then they could give Colon his winner's journey in the final week. But there's still some storyline with Bruce and Coco, so he has to stay. Vinnie is their alternate winner pick, especially if as we suspect, Channel 10 have got something lined up for his media career post-BB, so he has to stay. And it would be an incredibly bad look for their disability advocate to leave, so he has to stay.

The producers probably shit themselves when they saw the four nominees, and had to pull together some massive ass pull to prevent their plans from going astray.

Yeah, it's rigged. And they're not even trying to hide it.

Everyone in the house was over it, I would be too. They shouldn't have to go to sleep at night hearing their lip smacking and worse. Should they just bitch about it behind their backs instead of addressing something that is making the rest of the house uncomfortable?
