Poll on the BBAU Insta story asks who you voted to save. Results;

Holly 42%
Jane 38%
Michael 20%

Maybe people confused the vote? How else could Holly be so high? It’s not like she’s 07 Emma and is highly polarising.
?

I was against Emma for her behaviour and making others upset. Wish she got evicted earlier as Aleisha was being pulled down being her sidekick and others in there thought she was queen.

I dont have much issue with Holly. I voted to save her too.

They should honestly bring back the option where you can vote to save someone or evict someone and then they combine the two to see who got the least votes to save and the most to evict. That way people can see that there’s a clear direction of which way they’re voting

Though I don’t know how you making it more obvious than by saying it’s vote to save 🤣
No thats just silly.

Every other shows has you vote for who you want to save.

The limited audience interactivity for the 7 series had you vote for your fave in the winner didn't it? (I dont fully know this as I only properly watched the one they brought Tully, tim, Estelle, etc back for).

The 3 series prior to that on 9 only had us vote for who we wanted to save.

No more nasty targeting for people's hate anymore. YAY!

Got so annoyed by those like Terri in bb04 who just constantly slid by because people were too angered by some psycho girl instead they want to get rid of over them (eg, Aphrodite, TJ - still wishing we got to see more of their crazy stuff).

Don’t know why you’re calling it silly when it’s literally how voting has been done in the past

I still get more excited everyday to watch, whereas before, with 7 snd 9, it was more like, okay, its on, but without the excitement!
Really? I dont see how some keep comparing 9 to 7 like they were similar?

7 was atrocious because of the pre recorded elements by months and turning it into survivor in a warehouse.

But 9 was pretty much the same format as 10 and I even preferred the first and second 9 series over several 10 series. Thought housemates like Michael, Estelle, Ryan, Angie, Stacey, Bradley, Josh, Tully, Tim, Drew, Tahan, Jade, Ben from Brisbane and even the dogs Delilah and Mr Clooney were more exciting than many things on this current series!

Some in this current series I just dont know why they were cast. Just cannot picture some ever appearing in any of the previous 9 and 10 series. I do not have a strong fave sadly. Maybe it's the trash house they're in affecting things combined with rushed series but I find most of them in there pretty meh.

It was done in the past, but primarily it was done to increase revenue from the voting lines and SMS. I don’t have an issue with Save, they just need to be clear and almost hammer it into the audience at least for another week or so

The Nine series really were a downgrade on those on 10 - mostly down to no live feeds and by their third series not even any updates, plus of course Sonia was awful. The casting was pretty decent though, especially in 2013.

Back to this year and I was going to do this anyway but have started a thread to collate our overall thoughts so far.

Then watch every other show. We want Big Brother!
Ok well I think it's good bb moved on from getting its viewers in a frothing hate frenzy leaving the nothings to coast through. This isnt new to BB. You think you could hate frenzy vote others in the 9 series?

Because they realised it silly to have a war of votes fighting between negative and positive. In a time with free voting probably more pointless as with the evict and save votes fighting out kind of makes it somewhat seem as a money raiser.

Anyone suspicious that the eviction result is very much a captain call rather than based on votes ?
Or am i just reading too much into the 'for entertainment purposed only' fine print

Anyone who knows how reality TV works knows that it's production who decides who stays and who goes.

Bring back the showing of the current status of the voting (a graph or percentages or numbers or whatever) at the START of the eviction show and then have the host (in this case, Mel) comment on the numbers.

Mel: "Ooh, Sally and George are close and the lines are still open so you better get voting if you want to save George. Remember it is a vote to SAVE."

And then, mid-way through the show, display an update and do the same again.

Mel: "Ooh, the numbers have changed and it is getting even closer now, so get voting. And, remember, it is a vote to SAVE."

This builds tension and interest and also gives better transparency. And, it also reminds people, often, that it is a vote to SAVE.

Strongly disagree.
Apart from the fact that the votes are meaningless anyway, if they did matter, then doing it this way adds a lot of bias. Maybe show the percentages without putting the names to them.

It definitely will be if it keeps performing well in the viewing demos like it has been so far.

Seriously, the hyperventilating and OTT complaining by some on here a) whenever something happens they don’t like and/or b) because this season isn’t a 100% complete replica of the ‘OG era’ season has become ridiculous such that it diminishes the legitimate criticisms that can be made about this season (and there’s no shortage of issues to tackle).

I love all the people on here ... but, there is a part of me that has to agree with this. I for one do want more of the OG BB and what they are giving us is definitely not it. It is indeed frustrating for them to build it up as OG, and then for them to give us essentially a re-hashed channel 7 style BB with a live stream. But, I can live with it. Having BB on my TV is better than not having BB on my TV.

I enjoy watching it and seeing the dynamics of the house change with each and every little event, drama, blow-up, challenge, or twist that gets thrown at them. And I enjoy it whether it is OG, or very much not OG. It's just BB to me, regardless of what the format it, and I love having it on my TV screen.

Hmmm. Good point about the bias. I hadn't thought of that.

Percentages without names? Yes, that could work. I think they should at least show something ... even just a crappy bar graph with grey silhouettes. At the very minimum they should make sure that Mel announces often that it is a vote to SAVE.

Here is a good place to not just rate your experience of the show, but leave your feedback on the production and areas to improve.

Fuck, I can't do a link to save myself!

I think it’s unfair of you to continually downplay the disappointment MANY members on this board have every right to have about this reboot.
Firstly, of course people have every right to feel disappointed, frustrated, angry, etc about this rebooted season and I'm not trying to downplay the strong feelings some have about it. However, two things need to be said about your point.

Firstly, despite what some here want to believe, there's seemingly a spectrum of views about what we've seen so far and I think it's unfair that some of those who are disappointed have continually challenged or get outraged at those who don't agree with them rather than acknowledge that reasonable people can have different views about the same show.

Secondly, what I was getting to with my original post is there is a huge difference between measured, grounded criticism based on things that have or haven't occurred and bad faith criticism which is (among other things) exaggerated and OTT. For example, there are some who participate in the live threads who within a few minutes of a daily show beginning suggest (among other things) it'll bad just so they can repeatedly criticise everything they don't like and respond to those who share their views with "I told you so" type posts. To me, that is the definition of bad faith criticism because they're pushing a pre-determined agenda based on how they feel rather than legitimately responding to what they're seeing (or not seeing).

10 heavily advertised OG and they are not delivering aside from the live format.
It was clearly articulated during the lead-up to BB's return that the "OG format" references were about bringing back the key pillars of that era rather than every single aspect of it:

The references to "OG format" was about going back to live evictions, live nominations and the show being set at Dreamworld. Those where the three things Mel mentioned time after time when she was asked about that during promo interviews.

This notion some seem to have that the show should simply be a carbon copy of how it was between 2001 and 2007 whilst ignoring we live in a completely different world since BB's original iteration is absurd.

This eviction episode was an absolute dumpster fire, especially after the improvement we saw Friday night. I’ve already posted my thoughts multiple times about this reboot, and in an effort to not light a fire under members like @SoftKitty who seem to think this series is acceptable...
Don't know how you've drawn that conclusion when one look at my post history would demonstrate I've been highly critical of key aspects of this series from how badly combining daily shows with live elements such as an eviction has turned out to the 'rest day'.

I found it strange they’re not utilising the fan pit, if it’s positioned between the house and stage why not have the housemate walk out the house doors and film them walking through that crowd? The stage has no actual runway so it felt strange to just open the doors and jump straight into the interview, give it a bit more fanfare then opening the doors to no music!
