The Saturday 'rest day'

This is the kind of day that I miss the housemates doing chores.

Plenty of people online these days subscribe to feeds of people cleaning or gardening. A maintenance "day off" seems the perfect way to keep the housemates occupied, with content enough for the livestream, but not content enough for the daily show.

Did Colon come up with this "rest day" idea?

It seems like more work to monitor the housemates and tell them to stop if there's something they wouldn't be able to use, than it would be to just film it and use it. Especially since THEY'RE ALREADY FUCKING FILMING IT!!!

No, it was BB. It's just that there are some housemates that are triggering BB to shut them down more than others.

I know it was BB's decision. I'm just saying only someone as stupid as Colon could have made it.

In fact, maybe that explains the Colon favouritism, there's someone just like him on the inside 😒

If anything, in a weird way this is the most OG the show has been. No producer influence, just simply the HMs left completely to their own devices to go about their day naturally. It’s mundane, but today is the most 2001-style live stream I’ve seen all week.
Yes, except for them not being allowed to talk about particular topics.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure during the Nine-era Fridays were used as a rest day and we very rarely saw any footage from them on a certain season. Can't remember which though.

And even though it was basically a different show, 7BBAU definitely had rest days too.

So its hardly new or that surprising. Maybe a little disappointing though.

I wish it wasn't on a bloody saturday because that's when I can actually watch the stream during the day! I'm sure others are in the same boat.

Yeah was it 2014 whereby they would skip that day and most of the night footage as well? No wonder that season was so bad.

It's the byproduct of a lean production team, which calls back to budgets.

Whether anything makes the edit is to be seen, but they obviously are filming. The Sunday daily ep has two days of coverage, so Saturday makes sense as a down day. I'd guess that the instructions were more about minimising the need for production oversight/intervention than explicitly avoiding making edit-worthy content.

You can guarantee something will happen today then.

I've no problem with the day before an eviction being a quiet day - not sure about BBAU but that's how BBUK was originally so that the eviction show could focus more on live events, but the HMs shouldn't be told that. Imagine Sunday will also be chilled up until the evening and then the Monday daily show just pick up in the evening and then focus on nominations.
