And it's a huge issue, because without any voting that the public has to pay for, that means that the result isn't binding. The producers will just evict whoever they want.

I feel like a lot of people are on phone plans now anyway so there's no way to "pay 55C per vote" even if I wanted to.

Telstra stopped supporting premium sms a few years back which effectively killed it in Australia.

Yeah, when Idol came back on Seven, they had to use a regular phone number for voting. Votes were charged at regular text rates (so free for a lot of people, I assume), but it was still capped at 10 votes per number. I assume that was to stop people from taking advantage of free or cheap text rates. I don't see why Big Brother couldn't do the same.

I thought the phone charges were a part of BB's income but I guess they never got a cut.
