The worst is when they try and guilt trip over the cost of being a landlord like we should feel sorry for them.
I’ve been lucky in that the majority of landlords I’ve rented from have been pretty decent. I was with my last landlord for 10 years in 3 units and while she might have been a bit nuts at times (long story) the rent was extremely low and for that reason I never once complained if she increased it. I was sad to leave when they sold their properties and moving was stressful but I completely understood why they got out.
Current landlord is definitely more of a business/professional operation but I can’t complain. Despite paying double what I was paying before its definitely great value considering they don’t build units like mine anymore and a newer unit in the same class the size of a shoebox is going for at least $400 to $500 more/per month in the same area.
