Rewatch Big Brother 2008 YouTube stream (Starts 7am 25 Oct)

What the actual fuck was this? Either someone made a joke in a pitch meeting and someone took it as a serious suggestion, and/or they were actively trying to kill the show.

Watching parts of that made me realise it was easily the lowest moment of BBAU, until 2020. Even worse than anything Nine’s era spewed. Cringe cringe cringe.

a way to make some kind of revenue
I still wouldn’t put it past 10 to do something like this in 2025:

“Housemates, for this week’s task you will be participating in an episode of Gogglebox and test viewing the latest Paramount+ shows”

if they do force the housemates to cross-promote at gunpoint, I hope they at least have the sense to put it on their socials instead of littering the daily shows with it.

The shampoo incident was worse than I remembered. The fact they burst through the door while he was on the toilet. Awful.

I know the show received controversy during 2006-2007 for what many claimed as bullying behaviour, but the culmination of this was truly next level. Worse that it was also perpetuated by the hosts.

Barney in the live stream chat just claimed: “Trav needed serious medical attention for his eye. The house doctor was very concerned.

Travis took it all on the chin. The fact the constant taunting and ridiculing went on for as long as it did, and BB never called it out, is embarrassing. In a previous season, Ben, Rory and Nobbi would’ve been giving a warning or a strike. The latter two didn’t even show remorse.

If someone has to leave the house for medical treatment due to a practical joke, that at the very minimum should be first and last strike or immediate removal from the house. Little kids watch this and could get the wrong idea that bullying is ok.

Nobbi would have to be one of the biggest bullies of all time in Australian Big Brother, should've been removed for some of his consistent behavior and lack of remorse or care for his fellow housemates.

Yeah. The chat about it and video message shown at the following eviction didn’t help either. The guy literally almost lost his eyesight, and the show continued to pass it off as a light-hearted result of a “blokey prank”. Yikes.

Yeah I noticed that. I assume previous seasons they were prepped to not do that.
Yeah it was actively shot down on BB in the past, but mainly by Gretel. Without her reigning them in, the new hosts didn’t have the assertiveness to really stop the crowd.

Although booing in general is typically not really part of Australia’s culture, it’s usually seen as a big no-no for some reason. It’s often considered poor sportsmanship and widely condemned, even in sport.

Unless the Prime Minister is shown at a game then it's unaustralian not to boo.
