The individually uploaded ones are obviously still amazing but have all been re-encoded, compressed and they’ve excessively upped the colour saturation on every episode. The colour especially looks awful on a HD big screen.

Yeah. YouTube videos will typically always suffer from some sort compression, but I'm guessing the BB team are also adding some sort of upscaling and/or colour enhancement before they process them.

Threw together some side-by-side comparisons below. Not a complaint at all, because it's still absolutely amazing having the episodes in this quality, but there's definitely a difference between the live stream (broadcast master) copies and the individual uploads. They still look great, although you lose a lot of sharp detail on the latter, but I'll never get past how unnatural the colour is...

They’ve mentioned obs, which is a streaming software. You could select to stream a certain window in obs. But I don’t think it’s what they are doing. Obs has a vlc plug-in which is better than obs’ own media player.

When using the vlc plug-in, you can put together playlists and stuff and I assume they’re just throwing all episodes into that playlist. You’ll never see the original vlc interface and stay within the obs interface.

I doubt it because VLC will show the video title/name at the start of each file (see: Dash Cam Owners Australia's streams on Twitch)

What they probably mean is the VLC Video Source in OBS where they can create a playlist of videos.
 
Ok what a twist, good I guess? I was just at peace with it remaining a fever dream but this is a good development even if Friday night is probably my main viewing time. Saturday morning absolutely not.
