Rewatch Big Brother 2006 YouTube stream (26-28 Sep & 3-5 Oct)

Hahahaha. Immediately after signing off at the end of the finale (and even before the camera cut away from her), Gretel turned and walked off the stage as fast as she could. She didn't hang around to celebrate with the housemates like she usually did.

That says it all. She did put on brave face throughout it but the fun/joy of it had clearly passed. So she was still a professional even if she was over it by then.

Watching these seasons one after the other it is a bit disheartening to see Gretel's love for the show lessen as the years went on. She had well and truly checked out by BB06 and it is such a contrast to how she was just a few years earlier. It makes me genuinely wonder what was going on behind the scenes.

I just watched Dave and Camilla's live. Camilla looks fantastic and seems to be in a great place all of these years on as does Dave.

I was shocked to hear Dave was offered medication to be able to handle the house, and also to learn that Darren was homophobic.

It must be a bit confronting to watch these seasons as a participant 20 years later.

I've often overlooked the whole lore of Gretel. I wonder what her working relationship with Peter Abbott was like? Her whole vibe changes drastically around the time of 04/05. Initially I think she was just getting confident in the gig and was very passionate about the role as well, but then her frustrations become less discreet around the same time as Kris Noble taking charge.

Yes the whole Gretel thing stands out so much more with this style of viewing. I would so love to know what has gone down and what the working conditions were like for Gretel but I suspect we will never know. She would probably hate that it’s coming back and hate the thought of these marathons occurring, which makes me feel sad about something she clearly once enjoyed for a bit.

That finale was so long! I kept coming and going and there would still be so much to go!

And, please, they both had 50% of the save votes… I’m so confused by that final graph but clearly this is something I will never understand.

The system is also to blame for Camilla's loss (the final graph is a tad manipulated because they showed the %s at the start).

Camilla had more save votes than Jamie but she also had the most evict votes due to being polarising. Even though both of them ended up having more total save votes than evict votes anyway, Camilla received more evict votes which cancelled out enough of her save votes to lose to Jamie.

Oh yeah this much actually makes sense and is really annoying! Jamie is fine. I didn’t love him but he seemed like an ok guy but he was not a worthy winner like Camilla. But a step up from the year before!

Speaking of 05, did anyone notice Gretel referring to Ashalea as being from “last year” at some point during this stream? Obviously she just said the wrong thing but maybe it was a Freudian slip of sorts and just wanting to forget 05 ever existed. I am here for this erasure!

Against my own better judgement I'm gonna give this a crack. Just assume that more people vote to save for some reason:

Say there are 1000 votes to save and Jamie got 600 (60%) and Camilla got 400 (40%)
And there are 500 votes to evict and Jamie got 250 (50%) and Camilla got 250 (50%)

Overall, Jamie gets 600-250=450 to save, and Camilla gets 400-250=150 to save. Of a net total of 600 that's 75% Jamie to 25% Camilla.

It never makes sense on screen because they only ever state percentages of numbers they never disclose.

Also I think more people vote to evict than save but the point remains the same.

For me personally at this time I would probably say he's a top 3 winner from the ten era. And I would even argue that it is a definitive top 3, mostly because theres only three winners who weren't under edited.

1: Reggie
2: Aleisha
3: Jamie
4: Ben
5: Trevor
6: Terri
7: Greg
8: Peter

This does actually make some sense to me. There is hope! If they shared the number of votes instead then maybe it would be clearer for he but I do realise that is not practical.

Hmm yeah actually looking at this list I would say I agree with it and that, yes, by default Jamie is a top 3 winner for me too! This finale I felt I was ok with either outcome but that Jamie wasn’t enough of a winner in my eyes compared to Camilla.

I'm sure it's a commercial-in-confidence kinda thing. They don't want to reveal that kind of viewer participation to the other networks.
