Big Brother 2006 on official YouTube Channel (Live-streamed 26-28 Sep & 3-5 Oct)

You're sassy huh? lol. I knew what she was getting at but I can't wager a guess what day or time of day that specific day 70 episode will play in the marathon. I'm still playing catch up from last weekend.

Oh yes sorry I was being slightly facetious, it’s all good. I was just hoping someone could reasonably estimate it, I have already demonstrated my poor maths skills so simply counting episodes and estimating run times is too much for me.

Anyway, I guess I’ll find out soon enough and hope it just happens to be a time I can watch!

I think you’d be hard pressed to find someone pulling a stunt like that in the first place let alone having people react to it.

I also think the overall reaction to it was completely overblown. Having the footage readily available is actually a good thing… It’s clear exactly what happened, how it happened, who was at fault, and what the consequences were. There also shouldn’t have been the amount of political pressure applied to 10 that there was. Lastly heads should have rolled when 10 got thier hand slapped for things that happened in the 2005 series and greater reforms for the series should have happened for 2006. Obviously what they did put in place wasn’t enough.

As for blaming Camila if you look at any modern sexual assault cases there’s always going to be some amount of people who refuse to see who’s actually at fault for things that happen. In Canada we recently had several high profile Hockey players acquitted of sexual assault and there’s all sorts of opinions about it.

Definitely not today but I wonder if people rewatching it will have the same attitudes at the time.

But yes you’re right it is good to have the footage to remove all doubt. At the risk of looking like I’m defending SA, I do feel it was overblown and John and Ashley didn’t deserve to carry a label akin to rapist, it was more a violation of the rules and very stringent adherence on the back of some events the previous year. Not to say that what they did was all good to just to be clear, and women unfortunately are expected to put their comfort last and just laugh these things off, someone other than Camilla could have viewed it differently.

But anyway, I digress slightly and getting ahead of myself until it airs.

Thanks, although this is rather vague lol. Morning? Afternoon? Evening? Night time?

And yes I am aware it wasn’t aired but it was still part of the episode, I recall the rogue traders concern and John and Ashley were called to the diary room and Mike Goldman gave a non-descript explanation and they were never seen again, HMs realised after hours and were all told in the diary room. THAT is what I am wanting to see. They were interviewed afterwards by Gretel as well, I’m not sure if that will be included in the stream.
It was the early hours Saturday morning 1st July Which was also why initially there was some confusion to exactly what was going on because it was in that delay zone in regards to the main show (after FNL and Friday night Uplate there was no show until the Sunday Daily/Eviction).

I remember watching FNL/ bit of uplate and then the next day waking up to all this speculation and fragments of updates running wild online about what happened, by Sunday iirc it had made its way into the newspapers and greater media and I remember them then showing the housemates being told in the diary room as part of the Sunday daily/ Gaelan's Eviction.

Gretel's interview with John and Ashley was shown on the Monday night in like a 10 minute slot somewhere between Nominations and Uplate (Like 10:30/50 ish or something iirc. I'm pretty sure Gretel advertises the time during nominations.)

Like I was saying, they probably had no choice but to enforce a zero tolerance policy once they realised the footage was out there. They definitely curtailed the amount of alcohol being supplied to HMs at some point. Can't remember if it was a response to this event, or just waking up to RSA culture in general over time.

I would argue that Hotdogs actions were worse but he paved the way for things being taken more seriously the following year.

I can’t quite remember if Gianna was bothered by Michael’s actions either, I wouldn’t say that that was “worse” but it she felt uncomfortable or violated or embarrassed at all then yes maybe.

That stupid 05 cast really ruined everything.

Reminder that the BBBA Podcast started this year, I posted this thread in 2021 during Ch 7 Archive section https://www.behindbigbrother.com/forums/threads/from-the-bbba-archives-the-podcasts.56577/ reuploading what I had saved and the sometimes hilarious cover art they used to have, Then Tim kindly linked to the archives for all of the episodes from 2006-2008, 2012-2014.

I have fond memories of listening to the guys on my Ipod during my train trips to my Audio course in 2006 and '07, all the wacky voicemails, 'off topics' etc. The pre-launch 2007 episode where they got so much mileage out of Gretel's Rove Interview which was such a tangent off BB into her off season activities and imitating Donkey noises is worth a re-listen (and link to the interview if I can find it) when the 2007 stream starts LOL.

Anyways was just relistening to a random episode covering the Turkey Slap aftermath (2006 ep 16a/b and 17a/b on Tim's Archive link) and its quite detailed on the timeline and a throwback if anyones interested. You guys should bring it back this year if you can be bothered or can find a bit of time to record something! Haha.

I asked in the chat why the streams are starting with the OG theme rather than using the 2005-2007 theme from the zip file they released for the remix challenge.

They answered that the original theme is closer to the 2025 one, so is why they’re sticking with it. 👀👀👀

So if David had saved himself and not Ashley with his three point twist, would he have been evicted in a vote against Jamie and Katie? Meaning the Camilla event would never have happened. Ashley would've have been the weakest, right?

It is interesting to ponder, based on Katie's reaction to being nommed I still think most of the evict votes head her way, maybe even more so against Ashley to be honest. David was a bit more polarising and I think he attracts more votes to evict than Ashley would have, even though David was clearly getting a lot of save votes (as well as evicts). This voting formula doesn't really send out under the radar housemates too often so I'm of the opinion that Katie still goes regardless if its David or Ashley. But it does make you think how things would have been different.
