BBAU 2025: Casting open, return to Dreamworld Confirmed

Another thing with the Celeb seasons is they don't seem to be as network focused and self cross promoting as sometimes some of our celeb reality shows can have a slight edge of at times, Like DWTS likes to cast Home & Away cast, Seven news/network personalities, although exceptions like remember Sara Marie, Shannon Noll were on DWTS after they were ex-contestants of reality shows on TEN, similar to how CBBUK the last few seasons have had quite a few XFactor alums as housemates and guests. But they also have drawn from Corrie, Eastenders, TOWIE etc which are all on different channels IYKWIM.
The Aussie networks have a very old fashioned attitude in that regards compared to the UK and even US. I think only Ant and Dec have "golden handcuff" deals now and the BBC even use ITV shows to announce some of their line up for Strictly. They know the battle is no longer with each other but with the streamers.

Yeah, Channel 5 relied on the Channel 4 days when they promoted the launch of the show on their channel, too. The main advert for their first series was former housemates doing the whole "when bruv takes over” singing and dancing. They even got more former housemates than Channel 4 did for their UBB adverts. Some people back then took it as a sign that Channel 5 will invest a lot of money and will make the show better again. Oh well…
The difference back then is most fans felt the show needed a rest rather than that C5 were saving something that shouldn't have been axed. I'm probably more positive about the Seven era of BBAU than what C5 called Big Brother UK.

It may only be two years since it ended on Seven but they did such a poor job of BBAU to most people it feels longer - and in a way Seven fucking it up so badly has meant Ten haven't had to promise too much to win over fans, though I do think they'll piss off many fans with such a short run.

DID YOU GET THAT TULLY!? 🤣

It was worth it for that, but yeah, never again.
It never made any sense for me, why are they putting them in a clear chamber to nominate when it’s against the rules to talk about nominations, and any interesting content generated by the chamber would’ve been discouraged by the nature of the rules. Completely oxymoronic

👏👏👏👏👏

Not a lot of point when the HMs just covered their mouths and mumbled anyway.

Although I'd rather have the chamber back than YOU'RE RUNNING OUT OF TIME, GET TO THE POINT, WHAT ARE YOU REALLY TRYING TO SAY ABOUT HER

Ah yes. Thinking on it sometimes it seems not even that much of an issue contractually or anything its more that they like to self promote from network produced shows and such. As for the ex-reality contestants, I guess they also are free agents after their season ends, its not like they are a fixed cast member of a currently airing show (In the Shannon Noll on DWTS case that was quite a few years after Australian Idol had ended on Ten anyway).

Compare with say Osher Gunsberg who just appeared on the most recent season of DWTS, His run as Host of Ten's The Bachelor and Masked Singer has been over for some time, Vs maybe being a potential cast back in the earlier seasons whilst he was hosting Idol as Andrew G. That being said I'm not Sure if Shaun Micallef who also was on, is also hosting anything atm (maybe on ABC, or if they would care as much as Nine or Ten etc) But anyways thats getting down a bit of a tangent, but interesting haha. ;)

on the post upthread about how Ch 9 kicked things off with the show's return if there was any nostalgia grabs of the Ten era; I rewatched the first 5 minutes of BBAU9/2012 the other day and they just had a short auditions casting call intro, then bam out comes Sonia and Dancers with that LMFAO Shuffle dance to Party Rock Anthem (Flashbacks I actually went along to one of the filming days for those pre-season ads - the one at Olympic Park as an extra in the dancing mobs outside the stadium that was used for like a millisecond from a wayyyyy sky high angle in the final advert but hey, it was a fun day out and we got to see Sonia which was cool but I digress lol). So anyways after that its straight to business showing the house etc etc.

Do we know how far along in the the casting they are?
They seemed to have stopped posting audition videos on youtube almost 2 weeks ago.

idk with 6-8 weeks left till production i'd assume they're almost there
Back in the original 10 era I believe the shortlist of housemates were finalised the week before lockdown, they’d send the top 24 off for psych and medical evaluations then from there they’d narrow it down.

We are a looooong way off having a finalised list of housemates, I think someone here said zoom calls only started a week or two ago..

Only reason I think maybe they're being a bit faster with it is because of how short the season will be this time. I guess we'll find out one way or another! I hope they choose some really entertaining people for sure

Guess who opened up a case on Deal Or No Deal last night?

It was BB07 runner-up Zach Douglas!

There’s a new version of a promo! Only caught the tail end.

Had text like “what will make history this year ” or something.

As I recall, the 2012 season had a special task with fake housemates who were from previous seasons.
🤔 Huh? I remember the producer’s attempt at fooling them with fake housemates (and lame footage from the “second house”), as well as actual previous housemates popping in for a completely separate task, but not sure about a “task with fake housemates from previous seasons”.

I read somewhere the other day about how channel 10 in 2018 attempted to revive their once much loved variety show Rove after a decades hiatus but they failed miserably, is it possible their 2025 Big Brother Australia reboot will suffer the same fate?

Let’s not put that out there. My cards are all in on this reboot being the only tolerable Big Brother left on the air.

While i am optimistic, i am cautious nonetheless given this is not the first time channel 10 has tried really hard to revive a former much-loved franchise.
