We don't know. There's even doubt they will upload S3 even after streaming it last and next weekend. I saw the official account saying they wouldn't be uploaded straight away, but according to @the Theorist they said they won't be uploading them at all. Official account said S4 onwards had already been digitised so I don't know if they'll bother with a marathon for them, let alone if they'll make them available on YT. 🤷‍♂️

To clarify, the indication was implied. Some of the exact quotes were: “no plans to upload Season 3 yet”, followed by “I would love to keep uploading right away but that call isn’t up to me”.

Ultimately they may still upload Season 3, perhaps after the full season has streamed. Or, there might be plans / a requirement to edit or alter the episodes for an unsaid reason before uploading, so they might need time to do that.

Either way, to me there was a different - and vague - vibe regarding what the plans are for streaming/uploading future seasons than with Seasons 1 and 2. Again, we have to remember just how much longer and bigger (and controversial) the seasons are about to get…
 
That doesn't make sense. Okay, so S4 is already digitised - where is it available to watch then? Wasn't the whole point to build apprehension and excitement for the return to 10? Most people watching the re-runs will already be familiar with its content. Put a warning or disclaimer in front of certain episodes. They can't just stop at uploading season 2...
 
I agree, they can't just upload 2 seasons and be like "righto, let's move on..."

But I would imagine they would upload 03 after the stream, surely they would already have the first half uploaded, just unlisted.

They could also be sifting through 04 onwards and removing a lot of the controversial moments. Like Dasnico said, a warning/disclaimer (and perhaps an age restriction) is all they need. It was a different time back then, and I'm sure past viewers would understand that.

Apart from the turkey slap incident, were there many other controversial moments? Also, Merlin's protest was shown in the original 2024 teaser. I just find it silly that they'd remove all of the seasons from YT & DM, and not upload it themselves. But I guess it's their content, so 🤷🏻‍♂️

Honestly, I'm disappointed at the idea of censoring previously aired material. Uncut I can totally understand due to its sometimes sexually graphic nature. Censoring old daily show episodes purely to satisfy the snowflakes out there is just diabolical for a show like BB. Like taking the flavour out or cooking unseasoned chicken. That was what made the show so addicting - watching these people interact in a raw way.

Tbh, I don't remember the turkey slap incident even making it to air outside of the live feed. Correct me if I'm wrong.

What? How old are you?

First of all, any “censoring” wouldn’t be “purely to satisfy the snowflakes” - do you not realise the implications that re-broadcasting a series of events from over two decades ago that were never intended to be re-aired could have? Be grateful we’re getting anything to begin with.

And yes, the turkey slap did make it outside the live feed. Not officially by Big Brother, no, but (due to somebody here recording the feed) it was publicly released and shown as the first news story on almost every major national news programme for days, and was front page news. So yes, it was a huge deal. In a climate when BB was already under scrutinity due to their increasingly contentious content.

Arguably all of 2004-2008 could be considered controversial in some respects. People are really forgetting the show’s downfall and the many events from the house in those years that were picked apart and criticised in the media, resulting in increasing negative public perception at the time. Far from the peak we’re seeing during these 2001-2003 seasons.

My age has nothing to do with this. Obviously I'm old enough to remember the originals being broadcast on TV. What I'm saying is they've already opted to upload/stream the first three seasons, which I give a massive kudos to them for doing. Go big or go home. Anyone watching will know they aired over twenty years ago. It's not like they haven't already been unofficially available online for x number of years. They could easily do what Disney have done in the past on their platform and place a disclaimer at the beginning of any questionable episodes. They aren't rebroadcasting old episodes on national television.

You're correct in saying that BB started becoming the subject of a lot of scrutiny. The franchise has lived on (for better or worse). Why stream the first three seasons and upload the first two just to pull the plug? Controversy was the heartbeat of the show for a number of years. I really don't see it making any difference. I don't see any point in erasing part of the shows history that most of the viewers that are tuning in online are well aware of. Needless to say, if they want to censor their official copies of the episodes, then so be it. I'm merely expressing an opinion as a fan of the original 10 run. I hope they do upload the seasons given that they made a massive effort to remove their content from other channels.
 
I don’t think anyone is saying they’re definitely going to pull the plug. Just that their tone and vagueness around uploading the later Ten seasons was observed during the recent livestream.

My name isn’t the Theorist for nothing…;)

I wonder if Miriam might be a big part of it... I'd like to think her appearance was mostly handled quite sensitively, but it's bound to be riddled with outdated language (not to mention it's weird that her trans-ness was used as a gimmick at all).

There's at least one weird, loaded joke from Gretel ("We'll be talking to half.............. Housemate, half Intruder Miriam"), and... well, there's this.

I know it wasn't exactly BBAU's idea to cast her in a "transness as a gimmick" reality show. They did that because that's what her career was based on. But that's my gut feeling.

I'm not sure if there is much documentation about her stay at the Australian Big Brother house in general. And in this regards, specifically, I think for it to be an honest statement, it would had to come a couple of years after BB. I mean, she used similar language herself on her first show, where she said "I am not a woman. I was born as a man". And there is no comment from her, but those lines were scripted for her. So if she said something while still promoting the show, we can't take it at face value.

My feeling is that she was in some way upset with the statement. There was a documentation from Channel 4 a few years ago that included some quotes from her. Not so much about Big Brother, but about all the media and how she was fooling everyone.. and that she's been struggling with that and actually having PTSD from the experience. I could see these comments throwing her back to time at the end and after her dating show.

It might have been outweighed by her reception in Australia. As a viewer, I feel like Big Brother treated her much better than the Sky production. They obviously tried to recreate the whole twist form "There's something about Miriam" a little bit, but they also despite the language of the Noughties, they respected her more as a woman - and a human. The dating show producers - and media - have done her really, really dirty. Nobody considered her to be a victim of the production, it was all about the guys getting fooled and her fooling them. Once filming wrapped up, she was on her own. Nobody was there for her. Everyone was against her. On Big Brother, she was able to talk more about herself and a little bit more control.

Her life is so full of tragedy... I wish that she feels how I see it: That it was a better experience despite some - certainly now - outdated language, that it was much closer to the experience that she wanted to have in life. Truth is though: My view might be tainted. And even if it's not: Not my call anyways.

Just wondering if you're sure that was definitely the wording on the Sky show... I've seen the BBAU clips enough times that I remember her Big Brother reveal was, "I wasn't born as a woman. I was born as a man."

Which is still dated, but very different to "I am not a woman".

Does anyone remember how it was handled when Nadia Almada went into the BBAU House in... 2005, I guess? And whether that seemed obviously set up to lead to a "reveal"?

Her time on BBUK was handled *remarkably* sensitively, for the time, so I'm curious whether it was pitched more as "BBUK winner goes in!" or "trans woman goes in!" 😅
 
Ironically her entrance to the house popped up on my youtube suggested list yesterday. I was impressed how sensitive Gretel was with her at the time, but there were some questionable comments and moments.

It's no different than Nadia in season 5 of BBUK the same year. Ironically Nadia's season was one of the most controversial for more reasons than one. Channel 4 even omitted S5 from their "Best Shows Ever" special over the covid pandemic, and it certainly had qualifying episodes.

Hah, I remembered it being handled quite sensitively on BBUK, but I adored BB5 and Nadia, so I'm probably looking at it through rose-coloured glasses. 😄

My memory is that Davina addressed it on launch night (but it wasn't made part of Nadia's "backstory" or intro VT), and then it was more or less left alone. I certainly don't think there was pressure on her to reveal it to the other Housemates – although I do remember Davina revealing it in the eviction interviews every week, which is pretty tacky looking back on it.

I doubt the press or "Dave down the pub" handled it nearly as well, but I don't remember any of that, I was just glued to the show. 😂

I guess it says... something that she came back for Ultimate BB, too.
