Every aussie big brother ep is currently being released in remastered HD!!

every episode of the aussie big brother is currently being posted on dailymotion in remastered HD
A friend of mine kevin has spent thousands of hours remastering every episode of aussie big brother using the program: topaz labs ai. Now, he is posting all of his work to dailymotion. He has tried youtube, internet archive etc. however copyright and takedowns have stopped him in his tracks. They should all stay up on dailymotion though! So, for the first time ever, all episodes of big brother australia will be posted in remastered HD. So we can all stop watching the potato 240p youtube uploads. (I was getting very sick of counting pixels on the screen!)

I suggest using an incognito window for those of you who have adblockers. There seem to be no ads for these bb uploads on dailymotion as well.

Meh. There's no point taking something that is lower quality and just increasing the resolution and calling it HD. With such low quality sources, AI is going to get stuff horrifically wrong.

ie I don't remember Gretel's face looking like this:

Or the time the audience melted.

Hahahahhaa fair enough. Yea I think 01-02 are average 03-04 aren't bad but then the 05-08 stuff is very very good. I have compared the 05-08 stuff with the youtube uploads and the difference with those is crazy.

he didn't record 01-04. But 05 onwards was his recordings. So yea, you're right, with the 01-04 ones he's working with stuff that starts at very average quality wheras with 05 onwards he's remastering stuff that wasn't in terrible quality to begin with.

Please though, check the daily shows from 2002. They do look really good compared to what's on youtube at the moment. But yes, evictions are very choppy and cartoonish...

Yeah, even with image generation, AI has trouble coping with lots of faces in any scene. I managed to score a 1080p AI upgrade of BBC's 1974 drama Survivors from DM, and it looks very very good. So for some shows AI upscaling does an amazing job. But live crowd/audience scenes and fast panning etc, not so much.

Watching a few minutes of the season 1 launch and I kind of miss the pomp and pageantry of having the concept of the BB social experiment explained to me… Something 10 really need to bring back but in a way that doesn’t feel like they’re talking down to people. IDK there’s something about starting fresh and doing a complete relaunch rather than just another continuation that I find appealing and think would work perfectly given the context.

thank's Sam for posting it here, I will correct a statement you have made here I have upscaled and enhanced the video file, they are NOT HD the upscale side is I have change them to a standard 768 x 576 which is what it would have been broadcasted at the time, you must remember back in the early days of Big Brother Australia they would have been recorded on a VHS tape, think about it like BB 2001 there were nearly 100 shows each being between 20 min to almost 1 hour and most VHS tape were 2 to 4 hour long so that would have been a lot of tapes to record everything and then who every was recording them would then turn them into a Divx file so they could be stored on a PC hard drives which were very expensive back in the 2000's, than the file would be share by means of Bitorrent files which are the only files I have to work with of the earier shows, also when you record stuff on VHS tape trying to get it back into a digital form from an analogue VHS tape the aspect ratio is all wrong, it can sometime be a 5 by 4 aspect ratio and trying to make it so youtube recognises it as a 4 by 3 or a 16 by 9 it sew up the video and faces look skinny or fat, I have spent many hours on what material I have got to make the best I can. Big Brother 2002 is what I am up loading at the moment those file were some of the hardest to get something worth watching they were in this 5 by 4 aspect ratio and some of the files I had the only copy was in a very poor wmv ( Windows Media Video) format I had to use a few program to add padding black bars to to video so they will display in a 16 by 9 1280 x720 that program was CapCut Pro which I got the best results from also it is the best to remove music from a file so you don't get a copyright strike than after that I put the file through another paid program called Topaz Labs AI which cost me $149 AU a year I am using a
12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-12900KS, 3400 Mhz, 16 Core(s), 24 Logical Processor(s)
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 with 12gb of ram
64GB of ram
and it takes about twice the length of the video time to do each file so a 22 min file will take about 1 hour to do that file, this project is going to take me about a year to run through all the files I have, anything from Big Brother 2005 I did the recording so they are a lot better quality.

but no they are not HD they are upscaled and enhanced

Just skipping around the eps and this nominations episode early in 2002 is a good example of a problem BBAU has constantly had, but was much worse in earlier seasons: Australian tall poppy syndrome culture meant viewers wanted to vote out the most interesting housemates first.

At 6:50 and 9:15, Gretel interviews a bunch of sheepish morons in the audience and one by one they all say they don't like the female and gay housemates for being too loud, outspoken and bossy. You can literally hear Gretel's eyes rolling back in her head.

I thought I would let you know I have started to upload BB03, I know they are not perfect but hopefully they are better than some others on YouTube at the moment, I have spent many hours on each file to try and get the best I can out of what I have to work with, BB04 I got a reasonable copy in a DivX format, 2005 is when I started recording them myself but because of the price of hard drives back in 2005 I also turned them in to DivX files, 2006 and onto present I have the file in either MPG or TS files to work with. I can only upload about 10 files a day so it will take a while.

Hopefully a couple of decades on viewers would be wiser to what such HMs bring. We've certainly seen with BBUK viewers voting more tactically to try and save such HMs.

Which is my favourite design tbh, the spare room theme made it really feel like a normal house
For me looking back at it, it's just so suburban and boring. Like it was an afterthought. What I found really bizarre was Seven's three DRs at Olympic Park. Learning that really showed what a fake farce their whole production was. Those HMs in no way got the proper BB experience. The entire thing was a TV production for them to perform in.

I think the DR is often the place though where it's most obviously a production and generally the only room in the house where we don't see the 4th wall but the housemates do as it's usually it's the one room where the housemates have to talk directly to a visible camera.

IIRC in the C7 case they had to walk out of the house "set" to get to the other two DRs though. I think they were through "hallways" of black material? The floor plans showed they weren't immediately connected to the main part of the "house". So that fourth wall was regularly broken for them. I have no doubts their seasons were like 9-5 acting jobs (albeit longer hours) for them. Not genuine Big Brother in any way.
