Classic BBAU series on official Big Brother YouTube channel (from 8 pm AEST Aug 1)

@matts bb It should bring up the YouTube live chat with the poll at the bottom (if you haven't voted yet - if you did vote then it should be pinned to the top of chat in a black bubble). Otherwise try accessing the stream directly at the following link and look for the chat section:

I wonder if that had any relation to the 2007 BB Uplate online stream (for SA, NT & WA to participate in brainteasers), which for some reason remained active for the finale (including rehearsal)?

Anyway, so far 66 people responded to @bigbrotherau's YouTube poll asking about favourite OG era. 2001-2002 is currently in the lead:

Nostalgia must be the reason why the first four years were very liked. I thought the show peaked in quality in 2004-2006.

Speaking of Uncut, doesn’t YouTube allow age-restricted videos? You have to log in to your YouTube account and be at least 18 to view such videos.

DVDs are so old-school now, and it is all about streaming now, but I would have loved Big Brother box sets with complete seasons of the original 10 run. They would have been awesome. Something like the sets Via Vision is doing for classic Australian soap operas: https://shop.madman.com.au/products/the-young-doctors-collection-one?_pos=7&_sid=fd21874d8&_ss=r

Also, I had a thought that it would be a kii if repeats of Big Brother were to be aired on Channel 10, like at 11pm weeknights after the late news. It would count for Australian quota rules for FTA. Who thinks that would be a good idea? 😋

That is correct, they said they'll upload them off-line, they won't post them to the livestreams.

They won't be able to put Uncut on Youtube, but they could put it on 10play possibly. I'm kind of surprised they are using Youtube for this, but it definitely increases their reach massively so it makes sense.

If they manage to get TVNZ or Three to air the new show in NZ they could possibly relax their geoblocks for 10.com.au which would be good. But I think NZ might be wary after previous seasons tanked there, but especially when they were airing them days/weeks after the AU air dates. If Three's desperate they should air them live - 7pm AEST is 9pm in NZ - do they really have anything better to offer? It might actually pull a late night audience for them.
Three definitely don't lol their offers are mostly crap but I don't see it happening. AFAIK I don't think any Australian show has ever aired live in NZ. Big Brother is one of the few that was only on a one day delay although I think they might have aired the double eviction in BB2 in 02 live for some reason with every other eviction on the monday. But usually shows are at least a week behind Aus.

TV2 aired a few episodes live, but only because of how they were scheduling the show made the extended live specials a nightmare for them. From my memory, yeah it was the BB02 double eviction and the finale. I think the same happened for BB03, but the finale was definitely live too.

Generally, the Daily Shows aired 6:30PM-7PM. On Eviction/Nominations nights, the show aired 6PM-7PM - but they would intermittently either completely skip the Daily Show that aired the day prior in Australia, or edit it down to only be ten minutes long then remove footage from the eviction/nominations show so that it would air from 6:10PM to 7PM.

Since double evictions and the finales made editing them down impossible, they would air it live at 9:30PM and pre-empt their usual shows for the week.

That sounds like an absolute shit show 😭

You should hear about BB01. We had a "NZ host".

They had a guy called Mark Ferguson on a set where he sat on a bunch of CRT TVs and he'd get inserted into the start and end of the show for about 30 seconds making stupid comments about what was to come/what we just saw. As well as before and after commercial breaks.

On the eviction shows, after his shitty segment at the start of the show he would then "hand the reins" over to HIS co-host Gretel Killeen.

Wait was that Mark Ferguson as in the 7 news anchor here in Aus? I got it confused with Tim Ferguson haha
