Big Brother teased in new Channel 10 2025 promo

Yes this exact one! Wow that promo brings me back to 2012, the emotions and excitment in my household were unmeasurable. As much as this one-month-length rumour sucks I am looking forward to being transported to that again. Or at least I hope that happens. I felt like I was dreaming when the announcement came last year, and now its slowly feeling like I kind of am still dreaming? Like the more I learn and the longer this silence period goes on the more it doesnt feel real?
One month will kill it again for years. It will be a catastrophe.
Viewers wil not be interested in trying to get invested in it when it begins winding up after 3 weeks.
I will be bitterly disappointed.

Where are sources to this? Because the end credits don't list Kris Noble as "deputy Big Brothers" (which I assume are the voices of BB), only as an executive producer.

Btw, by the "main voice" I mean this guy with the deep, distinct, sharp voice - who sounded Snape-ish to me (voice appears from 0:04):

I assumed it was Nick Colquhoun earlier.
Whoever his name is. This is the voice of big brother that most people would associate bb with.

But still rate decently. MAFS brings extra viewers to TV rather than takes from Seven/Ten. Yes, MAFS is way out in front but 7 & 10 don't rate much worse in the slot in Q1 than they do for the rest of the year. A one month series outside of the rating season is much more likely to very a ratings disaster.

It makes me think that the hold back has had a lot to do with it. I sincerely hope it starts early October and wraps up mid December. Because at this stage with the auditions still on pause, and (forgive me) Dreamworld is basically crickets about that "BIG" announcement (assuming it's even there) it seems that it's going to be very rushed. The Ten insta has a story every 10 mins and its ALWAYS MasterChef, just FINISH ALREADY!

Or just push it into April/May next year like the good old days.

After Masterchef would be a great slot for 2026

Masterchef does really good business for 10, they should move Masterchef to Q1 to act as the “anti-MAFS” in the schedule and to start 10 off in a strong competitive position. Then lead that audience into Big Brother in Q2 with strong promotional saturation during the last 4 weeks of Masterchef, pushing survivor out to Q3 or Q4 to compete with The Block.

I'm really sorry, I don't mean to prolong this but he really doesn't. I acknowledge the similarities but Nick's voice was more distinct and much deeper.

These links no longer work, but our very own created an incredible folder a few years ago of soundbites with all Nick's catchphrases from throughout those years - cited here and here. I have them downloaded (it's not my place to re-share the clips) and they sound nothing like Kris.

This is Nick:

And to echo his words: That is all.
Nah, it's all good. And thanks for the mega correction (and for the sources - kinda sad that they don't work, but will take your word). 👌

Just to clarify I cannot verify the authenticity and accuracy of the article I linked, it was just what I found when I did a quick google search and thought I would add it into the discussion. If there is someone like @the Theorist who has more actual knowledge on this please take his wisdom over my link!
I think we took it too literally. The article meant that Kris is behind the voice of Big Brother, like he is a "spokesperson" of some sort for BB, not the literal voice of BB.

It does make sense to push Survivor back considering it'll air another series later this year.

Looking at the year as a whole Masterchef vs MAFS in Q1 and Survivor vs The Block in Q3 feels like good competitive complementary scheduling, with BB then in Q2 where no other franchise dominates. Amazing Race and I'm a Celeb could round off the year, though potentially replacing the latter with Celebrity Big Brother.

Watch the Ten News video posted here by James T of Kris Noble speaking.

He is definitely the 2004-2007 main BB. The guy sounded a lot like him (listen to the vocaroo where I lowered the pitch/tempo).

Nick may have been the relatively 'squeaky' sounding one during the daily shows (in the 2006-07 seasons) who provided the voice to relieve Kris.

In 2008/Season 8, it's Leon Murray.
I really don't hear it. I don't think it sounds like BB at all.
Only way to find out for sure is if someone who worked on the show could confirm

Survivor you could change around, because ratings wise it doesn’t really change… But since MasterChef is a $30 million production and rakes in $50 million, I wouldn’t put that in the 1st quarter up against MAFS (1 million viewers+ every ep) and Australian idol (roughly 900k viewers) it’s just a huge risk and 10 are happy with IACGMOOH in the Q1, they’ve played around with that and it rates the best there.

Nevermind, The Theorist confirmed in the last page that the BB voice was Nick.

Watching Neighbours this afternoon and saw the short promo for Big Brother for the first time. Woo hoo! I do wish they had gone with the old format, one month is barely enough time to get to know the housemates and then it's over. That is disappointing news.

I felt I may as well give this a proper reply without being snarky. I understand the rationale of protecting Masterchef over at 10, but I feel MAFS does so well because there hasn't been a truly competitive format going up against it. Masterchef has an incredibly loyal audience that would be delighted at the thought of getting a new season earlier in the year, and I feel summer-autumn is a really great backdrop for the format.

I have no doubt that Masterchef would siphon some of Australian Idol's audience, it wasn't uncommon for MKR to rate over 1m an episode up against MAFS.

IACGMOOH in the Q1, they’ve played around with that and it rates the best there.
Does it though? 🤨🤨🤨

Aired Q2 March–April
2023 averaged 820,000 (Consolidated Total TV 7 Days, rounded to the nearest 10,000)
2024 averaged 830,000
Aired Q1 January–February
2025 averaged 750,000

I keep spreadsheets used to measure and compare each reality series that I watch, and I can say with absoluteness that this is not true. The numbers clearly indicate that the show performed better when it was airing into Q2. In fact, after returning to the Q1 slot this year, the show ended up 10% down on last year's series which, funnily enough, was the show's best numbers in a while.

Survivor is up against MAFS and still managed over 800,000 viewers. Meanwhile, MasterChef is so far averaging 760,000 (down 5% on 2024's 820,000). MasterChef could handily match Survivor's numbers against MAFS. It's probably TEN's only other offering that would still survive against Nine's Q1 juggernaut, which could result in future seasons rating higher than what it is now.

Survivor is about to air in Q3, and I would guess it will match, if not beat, what it currently does and the 2023 season still managed 900,000+ even against MAFS. Who's to say Survivor couldn't reach the 1,000,000 mark even just once when away from MAFS? It was on the increase from 2017 onwards, with the 2019 season averaging 840,000, and in my opinion, that figure could be even greater with the new OzTAM measurement in Q3.

I would argue that when looking at these numbers, it is clear that both MasterChef and Survivor could thrive — and potentially do even better with a schedule change. Survivor has been proven to do well in Q1, but was doing just as well, if not slightly better, when it was airing in Q3. Seasons 1–4 & 6 aired in Q3 away from MAFS and altogether averaged 768,000, whilst All Stars, which aired in Q1 against MAFS, is the second-lowest rating season at 733,000.

Survivor you could change around, because ratings wise it doesn’t really change…
Thus, this statement is also incorrect...

MasterChef also has a lot of potential gain going up against MAFS and could even do with being cut down to eight weeks as well. I'm a Celeb could follow and do well, as it has before, in Q2, and Big Brother could either precede a Survivor season or be sandwiched between two Survivor seasons if TEN really wanted to. They could even close the year with Celebrity Big Brother or some alternate spin-off show. I too used to think MasterChef should be locked into Q2, but this year's ratings do not really do the claim much justice.

Here are some sources where you can verify the data that my attached spreadsheets display:

Fair to say the holdback didn't end the beginning of July and doesn't look like it ends the middle of July either. If it's at the end of the month that's an even tighter turnaround than we thought in the first place and more of a reason to push BB into 2026.

Only benefit of it airing at the end of the year is they might have given up on 10News+ by then so there is the possibilty of BB returning to it's original 7pm slot. I don't really back the idea that Ten should permanently move it's primetime schedule half an hour earlier but I think with Big Brother it is a scheduling move that could still work, especially if they have to have two nominations and two eviction shows every week. On those nights have a 30-minute daily at 7pm and live show at 7.30pm then on the other nights run the daily 7-8pm.

I am convinced it's due to the 7 holdback, all the BB socials still have 7 content and are also following the 7 brand. August 1st should hopefully mean the flood gates open, and they'll have 3 months to cast, assuming they're casting organically, if not they'll just take from the existing gameshow talent pool. Time will tell, but they're really pushing it. Unless they're looking for a smaller number of housemates to make it less rushed? So many questions.
