BBAU 2025 house location - Speculation & discussion

Well the second Aussie series did something similar.

Will be interesting what direction they go with the house - will it just be the set for the series or will they do more with it to make it more ofa player in the game. Nothing will be as ambitious as the BB3 house but is pretty standard now to have some secret element to the house.

Although we don't want too many twists and turns in the C10 reiteration of BBAU!

Should be back to basics. Stylish but let's go back to the days with little to no luxury, have them wash clothes by hand, bake their own bread, etc. If any sort of secret area is necessary perhaps having a group of potential intruders live in a separate area for a few weeks before the public vote them in to the house.

How many millennials would know how to bake their own bread these days though?

I’d also like to see this. The house doesn’t need to be such a big showey thing with an overuse of bright colour just to stand out. A simple house with a bedroom (or 2), kitchen, dining/lounge, bathroom and backyard is all that’s needed.

I’d rather there not be any secret rooms. I think TEN need to focus on just showing the audience that they’re serious about doing big brother property before they play around with it.

Exactly. Keep things as simple as possible, resist the urge to meddle, and let the story tell itself. As I said earlier they should really be thinking this is a hard relaunch not a continuation, there’s some room to give things a bit of 2020’s polish, but back to basics is where the show should be headed.

Also given how well the last two eras have been received, all we need is something mid, and we’ll eat that shit right up.

Not casting Sonia as the host is probably enough to make that level of decent tbh. Having a host that isn't there solely for the cash goes such a long way.

Who can forget her classic blunders like reading instructions for her on the autocue outloud during the first eviction of 2014? Or the first eviction of the pre-recorded 2020 season where she said "lets cross live to the house"?

She was painful, especially at the start. Read a line. Smile to camera. Read a line. Smile to camera again. She was like a robot, but at least she didn't read those bits out loud.

If you thought Sonia was bad then you should have seen the stumble rate of now-retired 7news Adelaide 6pm bulletin reader Jane Doyle.

Certainly agree with going back to basics food wise - along with bread I'd try and avoid giving them anything they could make themselves. If HMs want pizza or cake have them make it. Lets remove all the hair and gym stuff too - at least hold them back to be earned a few weeks in.

One thing I would bring back from the older houses is the punishment room. BBUK IMO hasn't got that element right in the revival and punishments are too arbitrary but reviving the punishment room would work well, completing a menial task to be released.

I did like the punishment room/naughty corner in 2006 and 2012. I agree with your take on BBUK too, it just felt like there was no risk of severe punishment for talking noms, whereas in Australia Michael in 2012 was actually given 2 strikes and was warned if he got one more he'd be ejected.

I like the back to basics approach too. Having the housemates needing to earn their luxaries/personal items would fit in well with the back to basics approach to the show. Which is desperatly what TEN needs to do for viewers to actually tune in. Even the casual Australian audience of Big Brother should not be so much dismissed as they have shown they will not watch Big Brother if it isn't done properly.

One thing I do hope that the house doesn't have is an extremely over the top designed Diary Room chair. it doesn't need to be flashy and edgy with different shapes and patters on it. A simple designed chair would be great. The 2001 diary room just felt like a spare room that anyone would have in their house.

You do realize that girls love hair products and boys love gym equipment?

You do realise the original point of the show was to do without such things?

It doesn't need to be too over the top but it should be a statement piece so if people see the chair they instantly think Big Brother.

TBH the two ITV era chairs haven't been half bad. I think if the rest of the house was toned down a bit they'd have made more of an impact.

The Aussie houses have always been a bit more muted really than other versions - perhaps the final Nine era was the boldest scheme they went for. They tend to go for muted shades rather than colour.
