100% guilty. I see he went back 11 days after first creating the entry to add a photo. The filename was "Jamie8.jpg", which really sounds more like it would be a pic of Jamie Brooksby.

It wasn't a great task but it reminded of a task that was used in BB Belgium in 2006. A task that would mentally fuck me up and would possibly cause me to actually leave. If you haven't watched the British Big Brother special "Big Brother Around the World" or haven't heard of the task before, I'll share with you what happened. Big Brother told the housemates there was 100 spiders released into the house that they had to catch. This was false. They did have to actually catch the spiders but there was only 99. The housemates were on edge attempting to find this non-existent 100th spider. If that was me I would refuse to sleep.

Thanks for alerting us to that. I assume I watched it at the time but great to see again. Love the BB Africa loverate who seduced all the housemates then was greated by his girlfriend, who unknown to him happened to be pregnant, upon exit. Just shows however much producers try and script things nowadays you can never top actual reality!
 
Update to the Vincent files. BB 2003. Day 31.
This man is an absolute peanut.
Not only he is trite, boring af , and delusional, we can now add blatant bullshit artist to his resume.
To set the scene for those who remember. Ben has been nominated and its just before Belinda walks.
At dinner Ben upsets Jo, who retreats to the bedroom, awaiting the male cavalry of salivation to come hither.
Ben then upsets Belinda who also retreats to the bedroom. Then an argument ensues between Chrissie and Ben after Chrisie calls him out.
She leaves to the bedroom on her own accord after giving him a serve.
Prince Valiant ( stereotypical wog boy car pun intended) assures all the girls he is not going to stand for this behaviour and solemnly promises to confront Ben on his behaviour and call him out on it. I think one of the girls says theyd like to watch but he gladitorially says its something he has to do on his own.
Vincent then leaves like a man off to war in dramatic strides.
Sees Ben in a room and.........
starts sucking up his arse so hard youd swear he was a vaccum cleaner. "Oh mate. You threw grenades tonight"
(giggling all the while)
And then just leaves. Later telling Saxon he sorted Ben out.
So we can add liar coward and bullshit artist to an already dynamic resume.

Agree in principle. But from my viewing, Saxon was a toddler in the EQ stakes. Even more immature than his 19 years.

Nothing against the bloke but he was an extremely immature 19 year old. Which makes Gretals choice even worse and hypocritical and blind eye stand out more simply out of lust.
 
Yes I tend to operate as though it’s true despite both denying it. I guess both would potentially have reason to, but also it’s entirely possible it was just a close friendship, but that’s also a bit odd. She was never seen to be friends with any other HMs that i recall, why this one teenage boy?
 
Currently watching the 2004 finale. It’s crazy that I’m already halfway through the 10 era. I definitely spent way too long with this series lol.
 
Starting 2008 is weird. It doesn't feel like Big Brother in a way when watching it, but I remember this very clearly being on air at the time so it does still feel like Big Brother because of my memory. It's just strange that the feeling of watching it isn't matching with my memory. The cast all seem to be casted because of a notable, unique or strange aspect of appearance/personality. For instance Rima's heigh, Travis' voice ect. Kyle and Jackie O are just a strange choice for hosts. It feels wrong watching them. I do however, much prefer the Leon Murray voice above the other voices. I like the sassiness, the quirkiness and the fact he isn't an asshole. This season feels like it should be lumped with the 2012-2014 seasons rather than the 2001-2007 era. In a way I consider it part of it's own exiled era.

Yep it felt very jarring to watch because it felt so different. 2007 was obviously a long way from 2001 but it still felt like Big Brother in essence, whereas 2008 was so different and the wrong vibe. Same thing with 2014 when it aired.

Too much stunt casting and stupid aspects like the giant bed and the conveyor belt of food, and totally changing the format with voting and nominating.

I also didn’t like the set with the stadium seating and K&J being lower from the audience.

But I feel like 08 as a stand alone series is actually somewhat entertaining, it’s just so so bad when viewed within the context of all others and it represents everything people hated about Big Brother. But it’s not as boring as, say, 02.
 
There were clearly many issues with BB08, Kyle being the biggest, but I still think they did alot of groundwork for future series moving forward and still think it was a mistake for Ten not to give it one final shot with BB09 (though 14 seasons of Masterchef later they'll probably disagree!). Yes, some stunt elements were pointless but they always were (did they ever show them changing the duvet?) but other elements I quite liked. The house felt fresher, I actually liked the change in the studio - and the (quickly dropped) seating at the house, and Jackie O was refreshing compared to Gretel - someone who actually liked the show. Unfortunately she was paired with someone who clearly didn't.


The revolving door evictions though were terrible, as was the eviction format in the early weeks which didn't work at all, removed the shows main format point of housemates coping with being nominated, and the way they did it always meant the person 4th in the vote ended up being nominated by default IIRC.

Trying to remember whether BB08 had live feeds - I think it did but not 100% sure.

I agree with all your points about what choices were wrong, but I also do agree with this one. If it wasn't called Big Brother I'd probably really like it, but because I'm comparing to how the show started in 2001 I view it as a massive downgrade. It's so far from what the show started as. I understand why viewers did stop watching, but to me this was dead when Gretel wasn't part. I also knew the ratings were bad but after looking at them again I didn't realise they were REALLY bad. 600,000 for daily shows in 2008, that is piss poor.

I too would argue they should have given 2009 a go, without Kyle, Jackie O could easily have done it herself. Although, with the numbers Masterchef managed for it's first decade on air (especially those first two seasons) I guess they made the right choice. There is no way in any reality that Big Brother would have managed a total of 5 plus million in 2010 like the Masterchef S2 finale did.

I really hated the revolving door for the evictions. The eviction format is extremely awkward. On paper yes it could work, but announcing nominations on the same day as eviction deprived us from content of stress from eviction. Also, with the "danger zone" being shown every night it influenced voting results (again). And yes the save twist was stupid and such a step backward from the 20007 save and replace. Similar to the three-point twist it caused the 4th highest housemate to always be nominated and then the same thing was used for the nominations process.

And yes, on the daily shows Mike Goldman mentions live streaming.
 
At least Kyle barely showed up so we weren’t subjected to him too frequently. This was definitely just a paycheque for him.

It’s hard to imagine Gretel hosting this season. She had definitely long lost the passion, but she would have surely had utter contempt for everything about this version. Could she have saved it?
