Gogglebox Australia

I agree with you, I do think she meant it as a slur (sadly) but there's hope for her, caught herself up a bit.
Yay, we're on the same page. Disagreement is fun, but agreement is cool too. That lady let herself down, stereotypes are often cruel

Thanks
i happen to be part Chinese, the dog jokes i find funny. I don't like slope head and chinks, thank you very much and a few other things,
but the dog thing, it is based in truth elsewhere, so matter of fact, and re here - it's a joke, there is too much to choose from here to hve to resort to some mangey dog

Thanks

I didn't think it was a big deal either, but everyone has their own "touchy" subject.

Possibly, but maybe she could love fellow humans, Asians, as much as she loves dogs, lol. Just kidding now, sort of
I think she thought in her head it was funny, but then realised when she said it out loud that it kinda wasn't, well, not the dog part. If she constantly said stuff like that, yeah, you're out. A one off I can let it go.:)

Thanks

It was a joke, or veiled racism, deliberate or ignorant. We'll never know, I'd just prefer jokes based on racial profiling to be actually funny, not just old fashioned stereotyping.

I agree, I laughed when she said the pork thing, not so much about the dog thing.
Perhaps she hasn't travelled much?

Hey I wasn't that fussed by her comment either. I just expressed I thought it was kinda racist, and this has snowballed, even though we are more or less agreeing. Bed time now for me, time to dream of kittens and puppies, none of which I will eat (because I'm not Asian :wink::wink::wink:). Night all

I enjoy the bits on shows I've watched, but was bored with the man to boy bit, and if I had any intention of watching This Is Us, thanks for spoiling what must be the major plot twist.

I also think they swear too much, but maybe that is just me, and I expect to get shouted down for this, but in my family no one has ever sat swearing at the tv.

Well it was only the first episode's twist.. and in a way it has been done before (well, not with the flashback/time factor) in Modern Family. In the first episode in that you were introduced to all the characters before they revealed they were all one family (admittedly the show's name might have alluded to that lol).

Anyway Gogglebox has done its job and I'm watching a show I might never have known about otherwise.

including this 'boys to man' crap... I hate anything that is similar to anything that tosser Bear Grylls does... such rubbish... cheers.

While I fast forward maybe 10% of it, that's actually a really fascinating and good show and the host is legitimately nuts and puts himself in danger.

Never seen more than one full episode of Bear Grylls and some random clips and it isn't like that.

It also legitimately seems like he isn't there with a support crew. It's all filmed by him or locals and doesn't feel staged.

IACGMOOH was not playing well enough to watch, so I am watching Gogglebox now (which I downloaded this morning). It's bloody funny too. They're totally taking the piss out of Keira.
