Oh and @wittybanter -I have a question to ask you, seeing this is the OT Thread ...... What are your thoughts about Climate Change? Just a question,
I ask anyone who says they have an opinion on global warming where the greenhouse gas nitrous oxide comes from to test their actual research into the matter. Most people have no idea. It's interesting in that it's one of the most commercially useful and valuable greenhouse gasses yet it is released into the atmosphere. It is released from fertilised soil due to the high nitrogen fertilisers used in agriculture.

Anyhow, I think humans abuse the planet and flatscreen TVs use 5-10 times more electricity than tube TVs of 20 years ago, so there is an underlying problem. But. Scientists have zero idea about the actual forecasts or even current numbers. They need solid numbers to get funding and make a difference but there is virtually no actual science behind it so they commit professional scientific misconduct, but for a bunch of fineprint assumptions hidden within any document. Forecasts of global temperature change are complete garbage. Tim Flannery has said polar icecaps could have disappeared 2 years ago. He is a shonk.

There is a huge problem in the gap between needing science to justify change and the actual ability to model a complex system like the planet. Impossible. It's not science. Beneath that it's not a forecast. It's guesswork. Getting accurate data from Brazilian or Indonesian illegal clearing will never happen.

Last point is Australia's need to burn gumtree buildup. Do taxpayers pay for all bushfire controlled burns? The recent out of control bushfire? All these produce Carbon Dioxide. It really hasn't even been discussed where forest burns fit in. I think the current policy is let lightning start fires and say it's an act of God. CO2 still goes into the atmosphere.

If I had kids I'd worry, a lot, but I don't have kids. My mum died of cancer, I think related to being a worrier, so worrying about climate change is less of a direct problem to me than worrying. I own a big old growth forest and don't drive a car, so I'm responsible.

I'm not working in the field any more/at the moment but I have to disagree that things like burnoffs and clearing havent been discussed. They probably havent been COMPLETELY RESOLVED but there is definitely work done in these types of areas/topics.

Mooseface, I think you have been quite level headed, and I think some of your posts have been taken for more than what they were. Personally, I think you have offered some great advice [DOUBLEPOST=1450740041][/DOUBLEPOST]
This is just plain wrong. If I knew where that post was I would report it. And think others should do the same
Thank you Sweetgeek. That is very sweet. (Of course. And not at all geeky). xx

Ha, thanks, since this morning I have been able to get an appointment with his respiratory specialist, and he will see him tomorrow, and we can start him on home 02. And he now has an appointment with a palliative care Consultant. I have been told from former work mates that she is very good. I worked with one that was fantastic, but she isnt in dads area. Ive been in the palliative care sector for 16 odd years, never had to face it from the other side! Thanks for being a friend . If I liked girls in that way, I would pick Irene, dont care for Madge
Always here for you, Gracie.

And great drunk gay choice. The mere thought of Madge's vadge is frightening!!

Good Moanin OT freaks and fabulouso's!

We have our Top 10 work Christmas Awards today! Funny stuff like who most needs an iron, who is most likely to be late due to being stuck in "traffic", who can be heard in the morgue, lips that pop, selfie paparazzi award and so on.

I am dressed up like Santa's little helper. Should be a fun day if we have no exploding iliostomy bags, or rapid patient declines :)

Have a great day!!

The Top 10 awards are NO match for the Anti-Gretel AWARDS 2015 and ABSOLUTELY NO WHERE NEAR the prestigious Speccy Awards by @Consuela

Sounds like s fun day. I had to laugh at Frank. So naughty. We are dog sitting my sons friends dog at our place. He's a very jumpy lab, will not listen, and is like a bull in a china shop. He is insane. Poor Rosie, she's the total opposite, and just doesn't know how to handle him.

On the world scale, the Guardian says that 3 weeks of illegal forest burning in Indonesia released Germany's annual CO2 output. In Brazil, it's believed half of all deforestation is illegal, but now performed to avoid satellite detection. If illegal burning can't be stopped, paying carbon credits for it will never be resolved. Trying to project, model or forecast 2100 temperatures based on not actually knowing current outputs is unscientific, and will be sneakily written off in fineprint.

In Australia, I can't find bush carbon figures by square metre. If you know of CO2 tables for forest types I would definitely study them. My property has 80 to near 100 metre tall forest, but equally they are big enough to survive fires and not be reduced to the ground. All the scientists in the world could not accurately predict CO2 output for a bushfire on my property alone to within 100 tonnes of Carbon.

If the carbon price is $20 per tonne and dense old growth forest weighs 5 tonnes (?, but yeah, it can and more) per square metre, that's $1 million per hectare. That weight might be on the dense side, but bushfires are regularly on the 3000-7000 hectare size. Who would pay $2-7 billion for a regular garden variety bushfire when the insurance payout for one that size recently was only $60 million. To be accurate, you'd need 100 people monitoring carbon output rather than fighting fires. I would looove any pointers to public information on current or historical CFA greenhouse emission reports and future greenhouse payment planning.

Did you see the 3 hour wait today to exit Castle Hill shopping centre:eek:. Madness!

I just read about it today, omg!!! I felt so frustrated just reading about it. I ended up going to chatswood last night at around 9pm and I got annoyed because there was a like to get out of about 10 minutes, obviously I couldn't handle 3 hours! Thankfully there were nearly no crowds at the shops though, do recommend night time xmas shopping.

Bloody hell, my grandparents gave me $1000 for christmas and Hanukkah combined, generous right? Well it's almost all gone already. Annoying. But I guess I'm still at least ahead versus if they hadn't given it to me. Frustrating though that money can go that quickly.

Merry Christmas to you as well.

What's everyone's plans for Chrissy?

I'm going down the coast, leaving tomorrow at 5:30am and I have close tonight! Suitcase packed. Just have to buy a few things before work. So excited, beach on boxing day, hopefully I can get some sun tanning time in while I'm down there.
I plan on drinking a lot, sister had 8 coronas in the fridge for me.

Hope you've got lots of things planned for 2016!
Still come back and visit though ok?

Good luck with everything. I'll have fingers crossed that you get your dream job!

Take care! xxx

See you in a few weeks :p
Little Jordy Angrypants!

I am so happy your new year is brimming with opportunity. I have had a soft spot for you ever since you joined kicking and screaming in every thread.

You are strong in spirit and you dance to the beat of your own drum, and I admire that.

yep night time is the way to go - earlier this week I did mad dash to mall - Myer open to 10pm ... most others were shutting around 7pm when I got there but KMart 24/7 and I think DJ's probably was open late as well as the supermarkets and the grog shop
got in and out without waiting anywhere and no crowds :)

Noooo doubt u would study them. But. Sorry. Not gonna get into a tit for tat argument on this for a bunch of reasons (no longer paid for this/have other priorities/witty and his argumentative- pseudo-legalistic attitude is generally exhausting) and not going to say 100% ANYTHING but when I WAS working in this field several years ago (Copenhagen not Paris) these things were then being discussed and studied. I (still) have a cold. Contact the CSIRO or BOM for more info. Or countless other academic/research organisations.

That was me being positively conversational :p

No sadly not on myself, just some boring bills and the like as well as some Christmas presents. Maybe I'll say that the presents don't count and still leaves a few hundred for me go spend on myself... yes, good plan.

I remember ages ago there was 24 hour shopping at Bondi junction during Christmas, I loved going there at 2am and basically having Westfield to myself. I wonder if they are doing that again? Thankfully I'm all done now but I'd be waiting until late at night if I needed anything else.

Listen I don't want to upset you but...

Your awards are the most unAnti Gretel like choices I have ever seen!!

Where is the tits you most want to see choice? Where is the most likely to take a selfie while having sex choice? Where is the most likely to be a 41 year old virgin choice? Where is the who would be most likely to stab a grown man if they chatted to their children online choice? Where is the dramatic "I am leaving this forum... For 38 minutes" choice? Where is the who has a third nipple choice? (That's Jessy if you are wondering), Where is the mass liker award choice? Where is the mass passive aggressive liker award choice? Where is the most likely to respond to a post 10 hours on, despite being in the forum all day choice? Where is the my reality is better than your reality choice? Where the most likely to be found sobbing while fucking an Inigo sock puppet choice? Where is the who is most likely to have an undiagnosed mental illness choice? Where is the looks for the best in every spiteful poster choice? Where is the ultimate Grammar Nazi choice? Where is the who would publicly share a screen shot of a private PM to cause hurt and shame to the other person choice? And the big one- where is my ULTIMATE CUNT/BULLY AWARD?!?! Come on, man! Use that fucked up imagination of yours!!

Worst Award Choices Ever!!!
