My partner is a smoker. I gave up up 9 years ago, and for me the smell of a smoker has never been offensive.

I have no problem with people being smokers or coffee drinkers. I just hate that combo of smokers breath and coffee breath. Mind you, it comes mainly from very heavy imbibers of both. One of the cleaners at work has that, combined with that odd greasy unwashed clothes and hair smell.
