I am trying to do this at the moment. we went to the state to look at the suburbs we were looking at in our price range. was a good plan to because some of the areas were not places I would feel comfortable living. we have not really actively contacted agents yet as we are a bit weary of them, but have got a referral for a conveyencer and pre-approval sorted.

Don't know if this is the right or wrong things to be doing, but it is hard to know how to start!

Suppose it depends on where you are looking. I think that there are people here from most states in OZ, that can give feedback ..... Except maybe ACT and NT? Ask the Question for the area and maybe it might narrow it down ?

From past experience, I'd take a trip down there to start with the gauge what area you want to live in, taking into consideration transport, shops, amenities, noise etc. We had a bad experience with a real estate agent once so make sure you pick one that's local to the area you're looking in, and probably one who also has a lot of property advertised. You have to make sure you tell them everything you're looking for and set an absolute limit otherwise they'll find one thing you're after and then nudge you up on the price. Once it's narrowed down to 2 or 3 then it's worth taking another trip to compare but you shouldn't be having to travel there all the time. In the end we changed our minds but I know lots of people who have done that successfully.

On a more serious note, I am fortunate to know you, to share in your real life and I love you. You inspire me when it comes to best practice nursing, you live a life of bursting with laughter, sodomy and adventure (and I get to share that while I live a boring white bread life) and you are always looking for ways to learn and grow. You have made many friendships in here, both fair-weathered and true and I feel blessed to have you as my GBFF.

Never turn a minority group into a majority group. When this place flourished the majority loved you, now there is only the minority left and that is okay. Take comfort in their disdain and thank the God of Forum you have real life friends and a reality to fall back on.
