LOL Sex noises, that's awkward as hell.
But recorders or instruments are the worst, I used to live next door to a kid that was learning the drums and he would go through the loops and then completely lose his shit when he got it wrong.
What made it worst was that I played drums in school so I was just as frustrated!

I can imagine. Listening to my sister as a child doing her piano practice was horrid as I was so used to Mum playing the piano beautifully. For me over the years it's listening to people read aloud, whether it be scripture, poems, things out of the paper or dialogue in plays, and getting the inflections, context and flow incorrect, not to mention pronunciations.

when my boys started learning musical instruments around the same time I phoned my parents in NZ and apologised for all that I had put them through with my music lessons, orchestra and jazz band recitals, practicing etc ...
just as I never encouraged the boys to play cricket ... I also never suggested violin or any string instrument that would require constant tuning as a possibility ...
bad bad mother that I am ....

we lived in a semi for a few years and on other side was a family with 4 children - 3 teenagers and a toddler. when toddler wasnt crying or screaming the teenagers were fighting and slamming doors ... mother would play piano late at night ... particularly annoying if you had to turn tv volume up just to hear what you were watching ... but sometimes quite soothing and relaxing

Yeah violin....it only ever sounds amazing when someone very talented is playing it.
I wonder if half the time it isn't properly tuned either!

My parents live next door to someone who plays piano hours at a time, it's almost creepy much they play!

I am an apartment dweller but I live on the top floor. I hear a squeaky door in next door's bedroom from time to time but that's not a bother. Downstairs I can hear the tv and the toilet flushing. Slamming doors, either the main door downstairs and across the hall are what annoy me most. I used to have a neighbour who I could hear vomit when he was drunk and yes, I've heard many sounds of sex from my building and once from the building next door mid morning.
You have the right to ask your upstairs neighbour to keep the volume down on all activities. She may not know she's being heard. You can also get in touch with the body corporate or agent or landlord if she doesn't comply. One of the flats in my building is owned by the Department of Human Services and I have had to get in touch with the body corporate about the current tenants and their lack of keys and all of the other tenants in the building being buzzed at all hours to let them in. Unfortunately, the pitfalls of communal living leave a dark spot on the joys of inner city living. Mind you, hearing sex noises always makes me laugh.

Yup the joys of apartment life I guess. I lived in a different building previously and aside from the hallway constantly smelling of curry I never experienced any problems, but the layout of my current building and the units within is quite different and not so soundproof.

It did occur to me that this woman is blissfully unaware of how noisy she is, to be honest I've never considered that anything I do might be heard by my neighbors, so I did mention it though in a (hopefully) polite way but it's still going on. Not the sex noises though, no way could I bring that up. She was telling me about her recent separation from her husband, well she is definitely moving on from him, pretty much every night too.

I'm going to kill that recorder kid though I swear. She was singing Adele songs really loudly and really badly this morning too.

You should tell her or better still, leave a note in her letterbox or under her door. She'll be mortified possibly but being told sooner better than later is preferable. What is it about the recorder? Vile instrument, well played or not.

Yeah good idea, it will do everyone a favour in the long run. Maybe she can at least start having sex at a normal hour so it doesn't wake me up!

I remember my sister and I both learning recorder at school, so mean of the school to inflict that on parents! It's actually the worst, why is it still a thing?!

Probably because it is relatively inexpensive for the school to buy compared to violins? I too learnt the recorder in primary school lol.

I also learnt violin and flute in primary school, I think they forced a different one on us each year but recorder was easily the worst. I also played a fife I believe it was called, basically a flute made out of plastic and not much different from a recorder. Fun times, well not so much for my poor parents.

That's a tenuous bow to play.

Nothing tenuous about worship!

Cool. We only learnt the recorder at my primary school. Plus singing of course.
