LMAO.... I have already but it was to expose her to what NOT to do. Sick sense of humour on my part (I know) but I told her "that song was out and popular when Princess Diana died..so see where stuff like that leads?"

Replying to your other post in a sec.
@Kismet this may help Danielle. This is a tutorial on Jazz Guitar by one of the alltime best. Joe Pass.

You are welcome, we play at Lally's but we play when we want too/same as the club. We don't need to play there and we usually setup when the tourists are NOT on the Island.

lol tourist time we get the invariable 19 yr old pack of "men" who think they are all chuck Norris, Voltaire and cassanova rolled into a kabab. So Sunday arvo Jazz is not on then. We have bouncers who can throw them to Sydney in one swing but its more about the vibe .

Ahh so it's like Orchid Ave when they hit the Island? A lot of chest bumping wank-stains strutting what they think they have?😤 I wouldn't want to waste Jazz on them either to be frank.

I have some friends who Live In BW the churchills (yes serious) lol

I don't know them but they may live in different area. I live in a bit of a wanky area behind Harbs.

I have found some great stuff for Danielle in terms of playing styles from people like Joe Pass, I wont post them here because they are professional players vids and would bore the sox of a snapping turtle in summer.

It may be easier if when she needs to know about stuff just pm me and I will helf if I can. I am thinking that, just like z one day Ill say "yanno I contributed there" .

I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your interest and also your assistance, so I will just say thank you. :) The banter you have been having with @Ayr has me wondering just who you are if truth be told. I am intrigued now and it has more to do with you clearly knowing your stuff. Thank you as well and I have passed the guitar work on to Dani. Needless to say, her eyes lit up and she's upstairs right now watching. BTW, her electric guitar is a Les Paul 120...something? 😳

Music makes the world a better place. If it didn't no one would play. Think about that![//quote]

I agree. It always tends to bring people together mostly in a positive way and crosses language barriers. Nothing else does that.

I am accredited on fucknowshowmanyrecords and sometimes I listen to my own stuff but largely I dig other peoples. I remember hangin out with the riptides as a kind of wise person (I was a wise as travis) and watching them rise and fall. Aned even the other night I was looking for a song to really punch a guitar and took ram jam.

When I first saw spideees do that song, I was amazed. Rare to trump an original. Spiderbait nailed that shit to the wall. So sometimes my young chargers come up trumps, sometimes it wasn't meant to be.

I wonder if you have heard of a local GC band called "DOGTAGS"? They do some shithot covers that trump the originals. Some of the guys in the band hold a weekend long jam session on their property up at Mt Nathan once a year - anyone welcome just to get up and do their thing...it's awesome.

Now I am stoned (hindu kush) Yr girl will be ok. She is waaay bigger than "I wanna be a rock star"

Yeah she's about the music and the element of fame is not even part of her makeup. She's doing x-factor to be heard. In reality she doesn't care if she's "chosen"; merely a personal challenge.

I asked a friend (literally phoned a friend) in relation to yr daughter ...she said "lock her in a closet till shes 20 keep her away from boys they vacuum all the talent out of her" lol

LOL! Thank your friend but honestly, she'd prefer to have her head in a book, than giving head to some twat.

BTW she is learning White Rabbit at the moment as she loves the lyrics. Even thinking about doing that as a"maybe for the audition she uploads. It suits her voice and it's doubtful anyone else would be doing it.

Oh also, wanted to know if you know the people who own/run BigNote Productions in Burleigh? I ask as they have a NZ link and have worked with a lot of people you probably have.

@Kismet
As far as the Guitar goes , yep it’s a Gibbo 200 and given that you went to Billy Hydes you would have had good advice. I’d say it is probably a 200 LITE in a sunburst or cherry flame. The ol’ Les paul is a great Base axe and quality instrument. I hold some amazing Guitars in my music room and get criticized for having so many but I do use 50% of mine and they have been collected over a long period of time. Given that in, I am not a snob, I play what I like but I have seen people belt hellcool stuff out of the most unlikely of instruments. Billy Bragg is a great example. Seasick Steve is another.

As far as her playing (Guitar) the number one thing to nurture is the hardest to master. It is kindov a mythical thing which becomes innate over time. Many people have tried to name it with such words as ; Feel, Flow, Touch or in my case “phrasing”. You and husband (from your involvement in vocals with Gershwin etc) may know it as parsing. It is a combination of a feel for the music you are playing where your mind is ahead of your fingers. (or voice)

I’ll try and explain it the way I have in the past to people. If you take off on a wave and you bottom turn up into the critical section (the curl/hook) you are in the power pocket of the wave. That pocket is moving so if you want to stay critical you have to adjust your line and manoeuvre to reunite with that (pocket) further down the wave. Sometimes that will involve turning back into the spent part of the wave to slow yourself so that the pocket can catch you (cutback) and sometimes you need to increase speed to catch it (highline). It is all about looking down the wall and forecasting what it will do.

It is the same with music when you play ( especially Improvised Jazz). If I am playing along in a fairly standard Chord pattern and the Bassist decides to “take off” I have to try and figure where he possibly is going so I can adjust/ enhance and also allow for drums keys etc. In some cases, there are visual signs like my Bassist always winks if he is going to drop into a minor to try and telegraph it but usually it is all by ear. This is why (now I am old) I am enjoying playing Jazz, I prefer other styles as my standard listening fare but playing Jazz is soooooo much fun and challenging. As a side note I hate Jazz clubs, went to one in Melbourne full of hipsters with berets and saying “man” a lot. (OS Is Different)

As far as “White Rabbit” goes, go for it but
“remember what the dormouse said……..free your head”

Sent you a pm so as not to keep rambling….cheers.

The festival was over and the boys were all planning for a fall
The cabaret was quiet except for the drilling in the wall
The curfew had been lifted and the gambling wheel shut down
Anyone with any sense had already left town
He was standing in the doorway looking like the Jack of Hearts.
He moved across the mirrored room "Set it up for everyone" he said
Then everyone commenced to do what they were doin' before he turned their heads
Then he walked up to a stranger and he asked him with a grin
"Could you kindly tell me friend what time the show begins ?"
Then he moved into the corner face down like the Jack of Hearts.
Backstage the girls were playing five card stud by the stairs
Lily had two queens she was hoping for a third to match her pair
Outside the streets were filling up, the window was open wide
A gentle breeze was blowing, you could feel it from inside
Lily called another bet and drew up the Jack of Hearts.
Big Jim was no one's fool, he owned the town's only diamond mine
He made his usual entrance looking so dandy and so fine
With his bodyguards and silver cane and every hair in place
He took whatever he wanted to and he laid it all to waste
But his bodyguards and silver cane were no match for the Jack of Hearts.
Rosemary combed her hair and took a carriage into town
She slipped in through the side door looking like a queen without a crown
She fluttered her false eyelashes and whispered in his ear
"Sorry darling, that I'm late", but he didn't seem to hear
He was staring into space over at the Jack of Hearts.
"I know I've seen that face somewhere" Big Jim was thinking to himself
"Maybe down in Mexico or a picture up on somebody's shelf"
But then the crowd began to stamp their feet and the house lights did dim
And in the darkness of the room there was only Jim and him
Staring at the butterfly who just drew the Jack of Hearts.
Lily was a princess she was fair-skinned and precious as a child
She did whatever she had to do she had that certain flash every time she smiled
She'd come away from a broken home had lots of strange affairs
With men in every walk of life which took her everywhere
But she'd never met anyone quite like the Jack of Hearts.
The hanging judge came in unnoticed and was being wined and dined
The drilling in the wall kept up but no one seemed to pay it any mind
It was known all around that Lily had Jim's ring
And nothing would ever come between Lily and the king
No nothing ever would except maybe the Jack of Hearts.
Rosemary started drinking hard and seeing her reflection in the knife
She was tired of the attention tired of playing the role of Big Jim's wife
She had done a lot of bad things even once tried suicide
Was looking to do just one good deed before she died
She was gazing to the future riding on the Jack of Hearts.
Lily took her dress off and buried it away
"Has your luck run out?" she laughed at him.
"Well I guess you must have known it would someday
Be careful not to touch the wall there's a brand new coat of paint
I'm glad to see you're still alive you're looking like a saint"
Down the hallway footsteps were coming for the Jack of Hearts.
The backstage manager was pacing all around by his chair
"There's something funny going on" he said " I can just feel it in the air"
He went to get the hanging judge but the hanging judge was drunk
As the leading actor hurried by in the costume of a monk
There was no actor anywhere better than the Jack of Hearts.
No one knew the circumstance, but they say it happened pretty quick
The door to the dressing room burst open a Colt revolver clicked
And big Jim was standing there you couldn't say surprised
Rosemary right beside him studying her eyes
She was with big Jim but she was leaning to the Jack of Hearts.
Two doors down the boys finally made it through the wall
And cleaned out the bank safe it's said that they got off with quite a haul
In the darkness by the riverbed they waited on the ground
For one more member who had business back in town
But they couldn't go no further without the Jack of Hearts.
The next day was hanging day the sky was overcast and black
Big Jim lay covered up killed by a penknife in the back
And Rosemary on the gallows she didn't even blink
The hanging judge was sober he hadn't had a drink
The only person on the scene missing was the Jack of Hearts.
The cabaret was empty now a sign said. "Closed for repair"
Lily had already taken all of the dye out of her hair
She was thinking about her father who she very rarely saw
Thinking about Rosemary and thinking about the law
But most of all she was thinking about the Jack of Hearts.
