Episode Day 33 (10/10/2014) Daily Show

Did she say this on the show, about the marriage breakdown after a year? I read an article in The Border Mail which said she was married for 7 years... Have you seen it?
7 years probably got flipped into 7 months in translation.

Even worse. So she was married from 23?! And yet refuses to talk about why they split up to protect him or herself yet is engaged in an emotional and at least a bit physical relationship from what we've seen so far (although I suspect there's more) with a guy who started his relationship maybe around the same time she did unless she chose to get married within a year or two?

Surely we can ditch the 23 yo's have no clue what they're doing now excuse because this one was married from the same age.

And then there's Tully only 2 years older than Lawson and it seems Cat when she got married... yet she didn't get the sympathy Lawson is at all. Yet it was Lawson's own mother who told him - before the age of 19 - that he self destructs relationships. What have you done before that age to make your mum say that?

I can't think of a word, (but one of you wordy people maybe can help me out?), but it diminishes the act of cheating like one should be grateful that that happens to them and nothing more.

Trivialises or minimises?

Cat was totally feeling as though she had to try and justify her actions, it was kind of amusing to watch.

I loved Priya's point about Cat. She said something along the lines of Cat not wanting to discuss the details of her marriage/divorce out of respect for her ex as he is not in the house to defend himself, yet she hasn't afforded the same respect to Lawson's girlfriend.

On another note I found it totally bizarre listening to Sandra be all high and mighty about morals. Her bit about how if you like someone you should have the decency to wait until you are on the outside and see what happens was very telling.
I find it mindboggling she can sit there and involve herself in these conversations when it was pretty obvious she was distraught Sam didn't invite her to the sanctuary the other week and then basically confessed her love for him after having a minor tanty. "YOU WILL ALWAYS BE SOMEONE ELSES"
So much creepy. I don't like Sandra much anymore.

it's possible they were together for 7 years but for some reason the marriage didn't work out

On the stigma attached to divorce:

I hate telling people I was only married for a year. You find yourself trying to justify it just to meet people’s expectations. I know what I had and I know why it ended, and it ended for reasons that it had to. I’m not ashamed of it, but telling people can be embarrassing.

On online dating:
I once went on a date with a guy that I met on a millionaire matchmaker website and it was the worst experience of my life … I got home that night and took my profile off straight away.

Thanks V. I was sure I'd seen outside of here where she had acknowledged that she'd only been married for a year.

So ignoring my post from above, she was married for a year or maybe even 7 months. Which is fine. Shit happens. There's obviously a story there and I'm sure we'll hear more it when one of the trash mags get a hold of them.

But again let's go back to why your own mum would tell you before you were 19 that you were sabotaging relationships? Based on the timeline his relationships would've been with Candice, his family and his friends. What are you doing to make your mother say that?! I say we find Marcus as I suspect he'll have the answers to that.

Perhaps he had a string of high school girlfriends. Or maybe he fell out with mates. I thought his comment about disappointing his gf's family was interesting. Regardless, he is not unlike many 20something blokes who are afraid of committment and dream of sowing their oats in all four corners of the globe... Tosser.

Kate Law... That's a hoot ey! Must be her married name as the twin has a different maiden name.

Thank you and great post!

I agree with all of it. I forgot about Sandra's response but you're right what a strange thing to say and tbh just as disrespectful really given her affections to Sam.

Yeah Sandra said something about waiting to be outside the house if you have feelings, and possibly waiting 6 months for things to settle down.
Maybe that's her game plan? Sam hasn't been dating his GF that long, so maybe Sandra thinks he will miss her once they are out of the house, and Sam's relationship will eventually runs it's course?

Meh, like hell it will.
It's funny how people put specific rules and timelines on these things too. What is with that?

Maybe Sandra thinks it will have all blown over by then (and her 15 minutes of fame will be over), so if her and Sam hook up , she will not be seen as a home-wrecker?
I think if Sam was single they would have already hooked up...they do seem to genuinely like each other.

Cat only gets a nomination point for talking about nominations? Bring on the strike! Rules are rules... I'm glad BB is enforcing it but the punishment is weak.

I notice Nine has fixed up the Monday Big Bang Theory promo that said there was an eviction afterwards :p

yeah she should have lost one from her 5 nomination points as well, so only has 4 left to use.

As you know... I am soberly challenged at the moment. I am also listening to "Because I Got High" by Afroman. So I haven't seen tonight's episode... and I won't until I am in a fit state.
I will say (maybe not well worded)... what matters more... who finds out they belong with whom... or what they get seen as? Is there a ring on any finger right now?

I would be fine with this if I thought it was anything more than a way to get air time and if Lawson hadn't been so mean about a long term girlfriend, saying that they broke up and then got back together because she was upset.
It's just wrong to treat someone you care about like this when they can't talk to you.

Believe me... I'm not saying it's "right". I just feel like everything in this part of human interaction is a "grey area", where unless you are one of the people involved, you just can't truly have any idea... nor impose your rules about what is right or wrong.

yeah he should have been stronger and not gotten back together with Candice just because she wanted to.. it's possible they broke up the week before lockdown because he wanted his freedom while on BB but since he was still with her entering BB, he had to remain faithful. although now we know why he was so quick to flirt and hang out with Cat, if his relationship of 5 yrs was rocky.

He wasn't even that quick really. And it's pretty normal to not realise you're in the wrong situation, until a better prospect presents itself (even if that one isn't ultimately the right one either).

Cat was the one to originally have her sights set on Lawson, and Sandra with Sam when they were discussing having crushes on taken guys, around the time that Tim entered the house? so maybe it took him longer to realise he really liked Cat but it's harder from him to show it because of his GF....

Sounds like he was pretty darn close to being a free agent before he entered the house.
