Priya acknowledged the joke went too far, Sam won't. Enjoyed seeing him and Sandra standing in the nominee line.
Even though I thought Aisha overreacted and is heavily spoiled, I do agree that Sam deserved to be nommed. He has arrogance to him that reminded me of a foul, heartless prick in my high school years. I'm pretty sure that this kid has grown up to be in the likes of Sam.

I'm surprised at the reaction towards Aisha.

I don't believe it was that bad, but I do believe that Aisha has every right to be upset.

It's much like Lisa's reaction to David. The comments were not for her to hear, they weren't directed towards her. However, she had every right to be upset.

The only difference, is that Lisa made a huge thing about it, bitched about David to everyone else, then threw his apology back in his face.

Aisha, kept it to herself, didn't make a big deal, admitted that she was overreacting (which is COMPLETELY fine) and accepted Sam's apology.

I thought the joke was borderline. I can see why someone would feel violated after that. You have to remember that Aisha isn't very close with Sam at all.

You also need to realise that emotions and logic don't always have a relationship linked to eachother. It's perfectly normal for Aisha to feel upset by that.

Maybe I'm mean but this shot of her in the bath was hilarious. I agree the massaging was too rough but this shot - LOL.

Again you said exactly what I think.

Aisha handled her self and the situation, with maturity and intelligence.

Yes, and afterwards it felt as though she and the fellow housemates were discussing a rape ... all of that stuff she said about wanting to say no but feeling unable to .... ergh. And did she mention something about "shutting down" when it was being done to her, or words to that effect?

It would have been completely different if it was done as part of a joke like in previous years but it clearly wasn't. Sam was angry and malicious. He put her in a situation to PUNISH her for how she has acted during the task, and he deliberately chose the situation because she would be stuck there for an hour or be forced to admit defeat, which would have made her look weak in the eyes of some people.

She was slapped, treated roughly and made to look stupid for an entire hour, all while being half naked and wet and covered in goop, not as a joke but as a punishment. I didn't like it one bit.

Someone, long time no see. Good to see you post again after a long hiatus. :)

And yes the way she related the events did somewhat resemble how victims of rape describe how they felt during an assault. Not sure is she was being overly dramatic or whether there was substance in her claims given the lack of footage to make up our minds.

Does it matter if there is substance?

It's the way she feels, if she felt that way, and someone like Sandra thought nothing of it, it doesn't invalidate her feelings.

I don't think what was done to her was as bad as rape, and I do agree that her reactions resembled very much like a rape victim (but on a very very very very very lower scale) and I don't see anything wrong with that.

The underlining and thing that is common with both events, she felt personally violated.

Innocent until proven guilty. Many women claim to have been raped only for police detective work to uncover and disprove a litany of lies. There always 2 sides to every story and I'd just prefer to see footage to judge for myself, is all.

It's all irrelevant though.

Aisha herself said that yeah, it was a joke, she's not lying about what happened.

Even though she acknowledges it's a joke, it doesn't invalidate her feelings.

Anyone who done a sexual harrassment course learns that it is all about perception rather than intent. Ultimately, these contestants are in a workplace. An unusual one granted, but that doesn't make the producers immune from responsibility and duty of care. I'm actually really surprised Big Brother didn't put a stop to this shit when it became visually clear that Aisha was uncomfortable in the situation she was placed in.

Many women?
I'm pretty sure the agreed upon percentage is somewhere in the vicinity of 2 - 8% and it's very much still a debated issue. It's certainly not as high as some people would like us to believe and doesn't really warrant comments like "many women claim to have been raped..." especially when you consider that researchers believe over 70% of rapes go unreported in the first place.

I agree. It was fairly obvious that Aisha was feeling intimidated and dominated. Even putting aside the physical acts of aggression, (the smack on the back of the head that she mentioned, the rough massaging etc,) both Sam and Priya put her into a position that they shouldn't have. If it's obvious to us how uncomfortable she is then it should have been obvious to them. And I agree. BB should have stopped them. Aisha is their employee.

As @davidftw said, it's all about perception. Just going back to the turkey slap incident (yes, I know it isn't comparable in action but I want to make a point). At the time that was all supposedly a big joke. At the time Camilla was laughing. It wasn't until afterwards when BB went batshit that she thought about it and realised that she truly had been assaulted. Everyone perceives things differently. Had anyone ever done that to me, I would never have laughed. I would never have thought that was funny and I daresay most of you wouldn't have either.

We are all also forgetting the consideration of the task. Aisha would also have had on her mind that if she complained or stopped them and made them look like the less than perfect staff, she may have been responsible for the whole house failing the task. I wouldn't underestimate the pressure that put on her decision to not stop them at the time either.

Apparently Sam thinks if you do not have any damage that you can see it is all good, so rape is good too? Aisha is someone I like which surprised me but she lost a lot of brownie points yesterday.
Aisha did not say no. she said nothing. Travis know she will throw you under the boss in a heartbeat. Very hard to witness. I have just watched yesterday's show and I have not had such a dislike for someone as I have for Sam for a very long time.nooo.gif

That's fair enough, 'several' would've been a better choice of word.

But the gist of my post still remains that regardless of the accusation (rape, murder, theft, etc..) and whether it involves a man or woman as the alleged perpetrator, the accused has to always be considered innocent until proven guilty and not the other way around.

One innocent individual who is immediately presumed guilty (based on nothing more than the word of an accuser) but is later cleared of not doing anything wrong is 1 too many IMHO.

Anyway in this instance I think it's fair to assume that Sam did over step the mark considering Priya felt guilty by merely being an accomplice to what Sam 'inflicted' on Aisha.

It's all irrelevant though.

I was only questioning the severity of the incident, how 'rough' Sam got with her and not whether it happened at all.

she has problems with lawson now and once again goes to travis about it just like it was with sam. the massage was solely on sam and priya but her lack of action made it look bad for everyone involved. it was not dealt with well. locking herself in the toilet crying nonstop and refusing to speak to anyone for some time made it dramatic. theres starting to be a trend that if she doesnt get her way, shes going to throw tantrums getting sympathy from others mainly travis. if he does gets involved, he gets attacked for interfering. she is hard to please. she wants all housemates to be nice to her while avoiding any confrontation.

The proof he went over the top was the footage we saw. FFS why bring rape and supposed false allegations of rape into this discussion? False allegations of rape happen no more than false allegations any other crime.

I feel like I'd react the same way Aisha is. She's probably sickened by the Cat/Lawson situation and feels helpless considering she's been cheated on before. I don't blame her at all. I also hate the word "sook", lol.

Why? I think it's a lovely word, I blurt it out all the time any chance I get. Sook, sook, sook, sook. :p

It's because of True Blood's Sookie, isn't it?

The way I see it. Aisha was justified in her reaction, after being been handled with such force (we saw I small part of it). She should have stopped them when she felt uncomfortable. She is aware of where she went wrong. She didn't want any fuss. She would have been happy having her cry alone in the toilet, but she was not left alone. From then on it went in a direction that she didn't want, but too many people were involved and couldn't been stopped.

When I saw Sam's massage and the pleasure he took at being more and more rough, I cringed. Sam was expressing his frustration about the task. To me it was horrible to watch.

They clearly didn't show the part when Sam and Priya both double fisted her bare asshole and tore it apart because she was that traumatised that's what had to have happened.
it's a PG show. BB had to edit that part out. are you spewing they don't have a live feed this year?
