It seems like Katie was made out to be a thief for hiding cans of drink - but is that really stealing? What if housemates are allocated a certain amount of food/drink and she simply wanted to hide her share of drinks just in case someone else drinks it.

Plus I'm sure many other housemates have put food off to the side......

But the way the boys found the cans was pretty sus... like Katie just put the cans in her luggage and next minute Travis makes a bee line to where they were hidden exactly.

Like did they watch her hide them? And why look at her luggage specifically?

I wouldn't call it stealing. It's just greed and selfishness. So food and drinks is available to all housemates and sometimes it's not perfectly rationed and divided equally. Gemma says Dion eats enough for four people.

And some people have no issue with saving some food and drink for later. There's two sides to the coin: you either save food for yourself or people are going to eat it all. I believe Lisa when she said most people do it in some kind of way. Or willing to eat food that's been hidden away.

It was clearly known that you don't stash food or drinks that is from the communal stash.

It doesn't seem like a one-off incident either, e.g. they were asking her if she was the one that was stealing the tim tams.

I think they were probably looking for it for a while, and BB just showed footage of when they finally found it in the suitcases.

why not then be upfront and say "I'm saving a can of soft drink for later - hope that's ok with everyone?"
noone would be able to object because they were having theirs at the time and it would look to be a fair thing

it gets very stressed over such small things but hiding stuff makes it look dodgy ...

as for hiding it in suitcase and the guys going straight to it seeming suss - there aren't that many places they can call their own - their bed and their suitcase ... and maybe they have a small locker/drawers ....all of which would be the obvious places to start looking

i think the TimTams was a bunch of the girls sharing them and chatting in a bedroom when one or more were upset over something ... but couldn't really say because BB DOESN'T GIVE US ENOUGH TO GO ON!!!!! (not yelling at you Tahan - at production - NOT THAT THEY CARE!!!)

communal food should still be shared reasonably between them ... and since they probably get 1 can of softdrink per person it would be reasonable to think one is yours - and then should be your decision to drink it straight away or maybe have it later ... I hate the thought of food being thrown in and them all pouncing on it and consuming immediately because someone else might take it ... becomes a "feeding time at the zoo" situation ...

I agree but the problem is, they deliberately took it and stashed it.

Why not just bring it up to the rest of the group?

the thing is no one seemed pissed at them for doing it, they just thought it was funny to steal them back and drink them....bit of fun...the girls then made a big deal out of their drinks being stolen. Lighten up girls.

I just think it was blown out of proportion because of the situation they are in. With limited access to the food you actually like then finding out someone is hiding food, I'd get annoyed too. I think Katie should have just said I want to put this aside for later as I don't feel like having it now.

I think the way both Katie and Lisa reacted to the situation made them look more guilty of wrong-doing than not. They seemed less concerned that drinks which were "rightfully theirs" were taken from them...and more worried about deflecting the negative attention by spouting concern about money being taken, privacy being breached and being talked about behind their backs. Most importantly, if they really felt that they didn't do anything wrong...then why were they so pissed that Lawson brought up the issue in front of "a crowd"? If the drinks were theirs to hide, then why care who knows about it?

If Katie had of said that it was hers and she was going to put it aside for later then that'd be fine, but taking it and hiding it just causes problems because whether it's just a game or not, people will start to do the same and just say "oh it's just a game"

If the other HMs were pissed over food/drink being stashed/eaten by individuals or select people, maybe they should have brought this up at a family dinner. BTW Cat, if your going to instigate something....at least own it.

She did own it.

She didn't own it, her version was like she passively said it. From Priya's recount, when she said not to do it, Cat was the one piping up to do it...inciting the other buffoons. Don't go and cry because u were called out on it.....that's not owning it.

She shouldn't have stashed it, she should've asked if it was okay that she put something aside for herself for later and left it in the kitchen.

Going through people's belongings is worse, however. Of course Travis (THE LIAR) LIED about it.

stealing/stashing food has been a tradition of BB households.
It should all be taken in stride.

I think housemates are too precious these days.
Food/sleep deprivation? no way for these holiday makers

I think though, Katie was more worried about her money being taken than anything.
